Ralf is doing something that should have been done years ago. He is exposing everyone, the players are coming out of this in a very bad light.

It is clear that we have players that don't want to play for the club, players that are vibes only and players that are not good enough.

I read somewhere that after the Liverpool game Ralf said he spoke in the dressing room, then Bruno spoke too.

I feel Bruno is the only real leader we have in the dressing room, yet he is the player that the fan base has turned on.

So Ralf has come out and categorically said he doesn’t think the players have a bad attitude and doesn’t think they’re selfish. Bit of a kick in the bollocks for the people who’ve been worshipping him for apparently calling out those nasty no good bad apples.

There were reports coming out that the higher ups were getting a bit annoyed by his keep coming out and putting the club, the players and even the Board down (personally I found him to be bang on about a lot of it). I just wonder if hes been pulled aside somewhat and been asked to reign it in a bit?

Damned if you do, damned if you dont.
If he agreed with that notion publicly then hes slammed for downing tools. If he politically deflects that being an issue then its taken as bible.

"Possibly myself" he knows he has no guarantees about his influence next year. All he's doing is posturing and putting himself out there to be involved.

Each press conference of his is a chance for him to sell himself. He keeps talking about working with ETH but what will most likely happen is he will be working with Murtough and Fletcher, I don't see him having any real contact with ETH. I think he's aware of this but he is purposely overstating his importance.

I think RR is just not that good of a coach. His blind faith in Rashford, the Ronaldo temper tantrum after getting subbed left unpunished, Maguire keeps playing, no young players from the academy, thinking Lingard can help, no winter signing. The last thing probably shows his CEO perspective, he's much better there.

So you happy with Fletcher, the guy even without a coaching badge, as technical director and seemingly doing whatever he wants, from first team training to shouting from bench. Grow up with teh constant moaning. The club is rotten from the top, Ralf is calling it as he sees it. He is clearly not a great manager but his CV showed that. Why he isnt technical director is the more relevant question.

He's slightly more sure of his role next year it seems. From a sense of wanting football people involved in football decisions, its good having him on board. His CV as a manager is not good enough for this club, but as a builder, he is supposed to be elite. Let's see how it goes.

He's doing what he needs to do, saying it out loud so he can be involved.

The fact he realises you sign players to fit a profile of how you want to play and require in that position is an improvement. You can have a database filled with data on every player on the planet but if you don’t actually know the qualities needed for that position to implement a way of playing how can you find players?

Part of this is also hiring a manager and giving him the power and longevity to mold a team by implementing a playing style and buying players for that style. The setup before always limited a managers power. From what we're hearing now, ten hag has asked for assurances and the club has given him these assurances. Suddenly the medium is now looking good for a manager and set up for start a proper turn around.

Interesting how he mentions the scouting department when the two most senior ones have gone now, whilst he’s been seen talking to Paul Mitchell (a recruitment specialist) who is heavily linked with us.

I don’t think the set-up limited manager power at all. I’d argue it gave them far too much say in signings. Maybe not in removing players though.

He’s quite clearly, and rightly, saying that if we were a team challenging in all fronts, with a great culture and high motivation then there is no way we’d have seven out injured: guaranteed 5 of those would suddenly be fit to play. The same goes in any job or walk of life. Sickness levels increase amongst those who are unmotivated or looking to move on, it’s a fact. Those who are highly motivated in their role, well paid, and happy with their trajectory rarely have time off. Footballers in this regard are no different, especially our lot. A handful threw the towel in a while ago. It’s isn’t the fault of the medical team looking after them, you can’t ultimately drag a horse to water: you can, however, move the problem elsewhere which is what we’ll do in the summer.

There’s a difference between sickness and physical injury caused by playing a sport. Liverpool were top of the league at Christmas last season and still had a massive injury crisis where they lost nearly all their centre halves so clearly playing for a good team in a good environment doesn’t make you immune from injuries. I highly doubt Maguire has a niggle in his knee because he’s playing for a shite team.

Some of the comments in here towards this intelligent, articulate man who has offered an extremely accurate critique of the club and very useful ideas on how to move forward are an absolute joke.

Did this amateur really say the squad should vote for the captain?

Get. Him. OUT.
Did this armchair keyboard idiot really post this? He said its common in Germany, to have 4-5 senior players act as squad reps. What is so wrong with that? After all its all going so well at MUFC we dont need to think about new ideas....

Most are children that hang around message boards all day waiting for wwe to come on on a night.

Your comment is spot on, it’s mainly because he hasn’t lived up to this genegenpressing hype and got us challenging again within a few months. With the mess of a structure when he came in it was never going to happen. Now there are movements and comings and goings and hopefully a little clarity on his future, the real work can start now and he can be scrutinised fairly once his proper work comes in (if he has any meaningful job at all).

You missed out the part where he said not all managers do this. So it isn't common in Germany at all. Reading comprehension not your strongest attribute then?

It reeks of amateurism and lack of control over the squad.

The manager picks the fecking captain. End of story.

Not true. They even said in the interview that Guardiola lets the players pick the captain. So is he an amateur with lack of control?

Clearly implying some of our lads use excuses to get out of work.

Good news.

Puts the blame on everyone, including himself and the staff not just the players
I'd expect nothing less from him. He's always come across as an honest guy. I never saw this as a Mourinho situation, where he was trying to distance himself from the failure on the pitch.

Sorry, but to a point, I disagree. It’s amazing how many ‘niggles’ are found by players when they don’t want to play. Similarly they’ll play through the pain barrier when they are highly motivated to do so. Of course, for sure, there are those injuries like Shaw’s, which you can’t fabricate.

“Playing through the pain barrier” is an archaic concept that thankfully less coaches seem to demand. Playing through pain is the reason Rashford looks physically shot, if you watch clips of him 2 years ago he was so much quicker than he is now.

The back and forth in the Caf on the football management structure of the club is hilarious.

Post SAF, We literally handed the keys to Moyes, LvG and Mourinho in succession, to have full authority over transfers. Maybe not money spent, but on the players they wanted. At that time everyone here was complaining about how antiquated we were in the football side of the operation — we have threads on the Caf that were 100s of pages long about hiring a DoF and how we shouldn’t give carte blanche to a manager for transfers.

Ole didn’t have full control over transfers according to most reporting, just veto power. Then Ole gets saddled with Maguire, AWB, DvB, Telles, etc. Note this is not a defense of Ole, just stating facts, calm down Ole haters. Ole proceeds to place 6th, 3rd and 2nd in the PL, but no trophies. After the Ole collapse of 2021, the knives come out and Ole is blamed by a large portion of the fan base for making poor transfer decisions.

Then Ralf comes in and everyone rejoices because we’ll finally have a philosophy married with transfer strategy married with tactics on the pitch by the manager.

Now, we are hiring a new manager who is somewhat unproven at the PL level and we literally have the Caf falling over itself to give ETH full control over transfers, the same damn thing we did with Moyes, LvG and Jose.

WTF… I’m not even criticizing the Caf, I’m just trying to point out how duplicitous the Caf is… Honestly, the reason we are shit is because we have very poor leadership at the top. The Glazers need to get out or to grow a pair of balls, hire a top class DoF and get the structure right so we can move forward.

Absolutely. Looks like someone at the club finally asked him why he has blamed everyone and everything but himself.
