Hasenhüttl is not very likely. He is possible as he fits the overall style, but Rangnick signed Nagelsmann as a replacement for Hasenhüttl (and then had to take over as an interim as Hasenhüttl wanted to leave immediately because of this), so I think it is clear that Rangnick does not see him as absolute top class.

I cant help but feel that we, as fans, have had a huge part to play in this appointment. Let's be honest, the guys at utd have no idea who he is, just like most of us. As soon as he was linked with us a couple of weeks ago, the same 2m clip started going viral on Twitter (him talking about pressing). Suddenly the guy is trending on Twitter every few days! After Watford, it went out of control.

With Solskjaer as interim, i loved it but in my heart really wanted it to just be a 6 month thing as i knew it wouldn't last long-term. With Ralf, I'll be much more open to keeping him on if things do go really well as I want the club to integrate his style and methods.

I know some people at the club don't know what they are doing but lets not fool ourselves.
Murtough went to Leipzig and had a chat with Ragnik, to see the way Leipzig were run, United knew that they are the club with the most advanced coaching set up, we have also taken advice from him in the past.
We have seen a shift, from Woodward when he was hiring managers, buying players, it was over the gaff. Since we introduced to Fletcher and Murtough, there has clearly been a shift, things don't happen overnight.
We have been run badly, we have taken steps in the right direction, this is a result of that.

I liked Jose (still do, actually) but there were loads of reasons why appointing him when we did was an idiotic idea.
If we even communicated with PSG about Poch then the reports aren't exactly off. I'm also excited about Ten Haag but the certainty is out of hand. People are so in love with the ceiling potential they are making his prospects to succeed here a slam dunk worth the risk. It very well might but most barely watch Ajax and the few that do can't even know enough to guarantee it will translate. He's that green as a prospect. This is also the same community that thought Ole was better for us than the likes of Tuchel and Nagelsmann. We can be very prone to tunnel vision.
If we dont get Ten Haag Poch is still a cracking manager and actually seems to want to be at the club. Poch's resume only looks inferior on its face because he has actually managed in highly competitive leagues. This is a win-win for us.

Okay, I have been monitoring this forum to understand the fans and their understanding of the appointment.
Firstly, everyone who is moaning that "we missed on Poch, now our season is doomed due to interim who will definitely leave the role at the end of the season"... please, think 2 steps ahead. This season is not doomed, this season is the beginning of an era. Ralf has an amazing opportunity to see the team in-depth and be as hands-on as he wants to. He can start revamping the club from the bottom to the top. First bottom (first team, maybe juniors and reserves too), then top (board, scouting, staff hiring, coaching etc). This club is going under serious, serious changes. This guy knows what he is doing, he has a CV which has results and oozes with integrity. Now, he built RB clubs with an okay budget, but imagine him using his whole skillset in a club like United, where he is promised lots of freedom. He is so motivated, so eager to show the world that he is that guy who, given such an opportunity in a club that calibre, is the right choice and has a huge possibility to rise into ultimate, top tier football icons (suht as Cruyff in Barcelona) if he makes United as an ultra-elite powerhouse.
Secondly, everyone who is questioning his managerial ability and that he has been managing 2 years in last 10... so what? He has been very close to football during the last 10 years and haven't had the necessity to manage. He knows his skillset and his efficiency is better leading the club not managing it. He is the one who created Tuchel, Klopp, Nagelsmann and Hasenhüttl - almost anyone of these names are this forum's darlings. Now you have THE man in charge. It's like the teacher comes to teach us, the one who is behind the principles, the philosophy. This just greatest way to learn and the rightest person to put in charge. You cannot miss. And now he has the possibility to go toe-to-toe with his disciples. Premier League is now something truly special.
People who are worried about our season - please don't. Ralf knows what he is doing. He is playing the long-term game. Please forget the nepotism, some nostalgic moment that "Ronaldo arrived, we must win the title this year, why didn't we appoint Zidane?" etc. Sorry, but club is bigger than the player. It's Ronaldo's job to prove Ralf that he is a true team player and if he wants to score goals, then they will find a way. Ronaldo is smart, so is Ralf. I expect him to become a) true team player who is pressing and doing all the work on the field, otherwise he'd be binned b) the super sub of super subs. Imagine your opponents when Ralf is forcing United to press and just suffocate the opponents, 70th minute and it's 1:0 to United. You take a look at the bench and see that Ronaldo is coming in. Mentally it's brutal. I'd just start crying I guess. He will bring the fear factor back to United.
About our managerial appointment - I am quite sure that Pochettino is not coming. I feel that now we have Ralf calling the shots, he wants to do it the proper way. The usual suspects (ten Hag, Hasenhüttl, Nagelsmann) are on the list, but we cannot undermine the possibility that comes a semi-stranger whose experience has been winning a Bundesliga 2 or whatever, but he is ultra-promising and he has some edge which others don't have or where other clubs don't have the audacity to execute that type of appointment. I am so happy that we are moving towards modern football club structure where manager becomes a head coach, is focused only on first-team football and performs there 10/10.

Honigstein made a good point on the Ornstein podcast (which should really be called steinandstein) that he’ll be taking over at the worst possible time to implement new ideas. Matches are coming so thick and fast between now and new year it won’t be possible to do much hard work in training as they’ll be in recovery mode between games. Just loads of video analysis. Which some players respond to and others don’t get at all.
