Rashford | Villa don’t have priority | sell price is set at 40m

I thought maybe he was depressed.

But if he thinks he's getting in that PSG team ahead of Kvara or Doue he's delusional
He shouldn’t even be in the Villa side ahead of Watkins or Asensio. Not complaining though, I hope he scores a few more and gets a move

Are people actually suggesting he was crap? He did his job as the outlet and played a key role in their goal. You people just love to hate.

He wasn’t crap but he didn’t exactly play a “key role” in the goal. He passed to someone, who passed to someone else.

He was an option on the break but never really opened his legs up and did anything, apart from one time when he took a man on. It was a pretty standard latter day Rashford performance tbh.

Okay..

He was actually good to very good in the first half. In the second half it was the Rashford we’ve seen at United all season. Dribbling up blind alleys and losing the ball.

Unai started him over watkins for a reason and I thought he did enough to justify it. The real question is how does his summer play out? He doesn't get into this psg side, no matter what the papers say. Hopefully he's content to stay at Villa.

Decent first half — held the ball up well, linked play nicely, and played a key role in the goal.

Faded in the second half, though, much like the rest of the Villa side.
Feel like these types of goal involvements can mask a lot. Received ball, head up, played most obvious ball on.

Can be spun into a big positive. Basically just not screwing the simple pass up.

Because Watkins had an issue with his knee and wasn’t fit enough to start, according to the commentators.

Yes, it was definitely fitness related. Watkins would start if he was fully fit. Whether Rashford would have started on the wing is another question, but I don’t think he would have done away at PSG.

I saw his passes in the build up to the goal described as "sensational" and it wasnt. A nice, simple pass, well executed. That's it. The ball by Tielemans is brilliant, and one i don't think anyone in our team  would play.

But the overplaying of what Rashford does definitely plays a role in the underplaying some of our fans do. Because it's constantly used to have a dig at us, it's obviously going to get our backs up.

Without knowing what the PSG players are on, I'd harbour a guess Rashford was the highest paid player on the pitch and he looked nothing like that.

It’s interesting you say that, as I feel like we (United) often find ourselves in those situations, only to end up making a mess of it - despite your suggestion that it was an easy task. The reality is, he did what was needed, they scored from it, and he played a crucial role in that.

I actually reckon there’s a good chance tonight is the only time this season he wasn’t the highest player on the pitch!

Don’t disagree, but I don’t think it’s impressive or indicative of anything in times of Rashford extreme reporting. It’s not worthy of praise for anyone other than a kid making their debut for me.

Hard to imagine many scouts watching tonight’s game and coming away with the conclusion Rashy was the player to buy in the summer.

At the very least, one of the highest. But who at PSG is on those type of wages nowadays?

He wasn’t though. He played well and I’d imagine if he goes United are going to pay him off like they did with McTommy to subsidise his wage for the duration of his United contract. Some of our fans really need to give their heads a wobble, just negative bile after negative bile. I don’t want Rashford at the club and I’m genuinely happy he’s enjoying playing again. Much like many fans who appear to be unhappy supporting the club, they should move on or change something within themselves.

I’m no fan of Rashford, but that kind of simple, quick passing is something we’ve been badly missing for years.

It is clear that some people are watching him play and waiting for an opportunity to criticise him. He has warranted plenty of criticism at times, but there is also a lot of toxicity from some United fans that almost seem to enjoy slating him.

Let's be fair his contribution to Villas goal was a quick smart pass to Tielemans who then executed the perfect pass for Rogers. Otherwise it was a typical frustrating utd performance we've seen so many times. He looks sharp for 30 mins then can't be arsed. His body language in the 2nd half was abysmal. There is just zero workrate in the lad. Stealing a wage is my honest opinion. Ta think he was my favourite player for a long time at OT. Something radically wrong with the lad. Lost his passion for the game. You name it!

Dembele and Kvara for sure, possibly Marquinhos(though hs wasn't on the pitch) and you have to consider Rashford might have had to take a pay cut to join Villa

Villa stupid to play Rashford upfront. He can only play forward (left) well.

We'd still be topping it up?

I think injuries have done in his stamina levels. He seems incapable of keeping it up for 90 mins. Not convinced Villa will buy him, or anyone else at 40m

He's not had that many injuries. Hi biggest injury break was his shoulder / back if I am not wrong. A 27 year old who cannot play 90 mins is quite concerning considering how many posts he puts on his socials about his fitness and gymwork.

We need Rashford to have a blinder in the second leg so someone buys him.

It is quite concerning, almost like he’s trying to save that “explosiveness” that he used to be known for. However I see very little evidence that there’s much left in the tank. It’s really head scratching

There isn't... he has lost some of his pace which means now on the counter where he could go past players with aggressive running, he cannot anymore.

So what you are seeing now, he is slowing he ball down, trying to beat players with skill but keeps running into defenders.

I didn't get to watch the first half but the second half he was pretty poor.

He has got a big dilemma this summer.

He will return to Utd. He won’t want that but nor does the club.

He wants to leave and will be angling for some form of payoff as he will have to reduce salary.

He has to get a move otherwise he doesn’t go to the World cup.

Who blinks first?

ok fine, assisted an assist
This is the argument I have with non United fan over Scholes - the amount of times Scholes played the pass for the next player to assist. Doesn't get enough respect from non United fans IMO.

But yeah, it was a lovely pass by Rashford! Deserves credit for helping to make the goal.

The bottleneck won't be the transfer fee but the wages. Villa might pay 40m for him, but they certainly won't pay him anywhere north of 200k a week and disrupt their wage structure (their highest right now is 150k based on a quick search).

His performances don't seem to be eye catching enough for the likes of big wage suitors like Barca or PSG for a permanent transfer, either. So in order to play anywhere, he will have to end up going on loan once more because we won't pay him 300k when the manager won't give him minutes.

Which means that unless he has a phenomenal end to his loan, United will end up paying his wages for another season, and not be able to sign replacements.

It is in our best interest that Marcus single handedly pulls Villa back into the tie and gets them through. A hattrick would be nice.

He did ok last night. There were some Villa players who played worse and won’t be judged as harshly as Rashford. Rio’s words were “he is playing like a man possessed” …. I assume he means possessed by Antony Martial but hey ho!

Did Rio really say that?

Goodness. Possessed with the spirit of a moderately in form Danny Welbeck maybe.
