That touch he took was terrible, he needed to keep it over to the left of his body to give the defender no chance of recovering. He's not going to last here.He is just severely lacking in confidence at the moment, there is a good striker in there. We need to back him up, he will come good once he gets his confidence back.
So did Jesse Lingard at one pointYes, there is. Maybe it's hard for some to remember today, but he had a stretch for us when he was scoring every game. He has shown that he can perform well.
You're basing your defence for him over a 6 game period.Yes, there is. Maybe it's hard for some to remember today, but he had a stretch for us when he was scoring every game. He has shown that he can perform well.
The second chance was a good block, so no complaints.
The first chance he was way too casual.
My biggest annoyance came with the Bruno chance at the end. Originally I thought it was Rasmus running in - but saw it was Collyer. Looking at the replays, Hojlund stood there flat footed, around the penalty spot. As a striker he really needs to be more active and anticipating better. Even if the ball doesn’t drop to you, at least make an effort and make it difficult for them.
I’d agree - he’s definitely lacking there.Yep. He has zero anticipation and instinct.
So did Amr Zaki. Remember him?Yes, there is. Maybe it's hard for some to remember today, but he had a stretch for us when he was scoring every game. He has shown that he can perform well.
Where was he for the last second chance?
Was begging for a tap in after Raya's save and he was nowhere. Not even close.
His football instincts are non existent. Watch him for the build up of that chance, its absolutely appalling.
That really is inexcusable. Thought he looked alright last year but I struggle to see any strengths in his game now.https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/XLqoAqDI4Z
Didn't notice until I saw your post. I am more sympathetic to him than most but this is inexcusable. Not like he was tired. Just unacceptable.
A 6 or 7 game purple patch doesn't mean that is someone's default level when we have a much larger sample size. Even when he scored a few plenty of people still said at best he was a poor man's lukaku and his all round game was nowhere near top levelYes, there is. Maybe it's hard for some to remember today, but he had a stretch for us when he was scoring every game. He has shown that he can perform well.
Just watched this and if you just watch Hojlund's movement it's absolutely maddening. Doesn't bother anticipating a ball into the box, when it's pinging around and could be anyone's he just . . . stands there. The second chance was a good block, so no complaints.

This is what irked me so much. Five yards from their centre backs but allowing them to get their head up and play easy passes while he jogged around near them giving pretend effort. His head has gone. Before at least you could tell he was trying but today he didn't challenge, didn't press and the non-shot was just the final straw. His form and confidence is just grim.

That's not just confidence that's desire. He thinks players should be putting the ball on a plate for him, he's not making his own fortune. I have had some sympathy for Rasmus this season, sometimes his frustration with his teammates has been understandable, but it's a two way street - if he doesn't bother making the runs or anticipate anything then we might as well play Chido Obi every match from now on. Obi was a real handful against Fulham too.
Nonsense like this has been said about so many crap players and managers since Fergie left. People will point out small periods where player/manager wasn't completely crap, as if that makes up for the other 90% where they stunk the place outYes, there is. Maybe it's hard for some to remember today, but he had a stretch for us when he was scoring every game. He has shown that he can perform well.

Does anyone think, once he gets that goal, they will start flowing?
No. I think everyone here WANTS to be wrong, but he's played 23 games for us in the Premier League and scored two goals. We can't keep blaming every other footballer in the team. At some point you have to ask is that good enough for a number 9 at Manchester United.Does anyone think, once he gets that goal, they will start flowing?
I mean we shouldnt insult our players like this but I can’t argue with your post.He is pure crap
Unfortunately this is much more than lacking in confidenceHe is just severely lacking in confidence at the moment, there is a good striker in there. We need to back him up, he will come good once he gets his confidence back.
Is it a full moon tonight? He is just severely lacking in confidence at the moment, there is a good striker in there. We need to back him up, he will come good once he gets his confidence back.
He looked decent in the EL since it is his level. He lacks so many basic qualities to be a top PL player. Our scouts are terrible.Even with his goals last season there were very few games he looked like an above average PL striker in the making. His goal total ended up being quite good for a first season but his actual footballing performances were a long way off what were needed. This is not a discussion purely from this season, his limitations were obvious last year as well.
He has played 80 games for Utd now, how many has he really looked a good footballer out of that lot? Is it even 10? He has been terrible/anonymous in the majority of his games
Wouldn't be a bad idea to loan him out to the Eredivisie or Bundesliga.
If he finds form, he comes back; if he does alright, he moves on.
But if he continues in this run of form then there will be no one coming in for him.
I thought the same, striker 101 is to cut across the defender and you either get space to shoot or get clippedWhen Casemiro put him through he just had to take the snap shot. If he couldn't, at the very least he should get his body in front of Rice and get clattered for a penalty.
I like him but I'm not going to keep excusing him. Low confidence or not.
