While I don't disagree Hojlund has been poor this season and not overly impressive last season, I think it's a risk to let him go this summer if we're only looking at Delap to come in. We'll potentially be left in exactly the same position as we have been this season with one recognised striker. Yes we've Chido coming through but he should be number 3 next season where he can get game time, hopefully with less pressure on his shoulders.

Rasmus has had it hard here given he came in as a young lad without huge experience and has pretty much been asked to lead the line for us on his own, I wonder what it might do for him to have Delap competing with him where he can be taken out the firing line a little.

I'm not excusing his lack of output and ability shown this season but he's young, raw and could yet do decent things. A decent offer would change the thinking but there are many problems we need to offload (Rashford, Antony, Sancho, Malacia, Mount, Shaw and Onana for starters) before Hojlund.

Yep, I would be open to giving him another season playing 2nd choice, because rn he has no market value.

Much easier to sell Garnacho than Hojlund.

Or we just loan him out to a German or Italian club, where he hopefully can score a few goals and raise his value?

We have Chido and Zirkzee (who I mainly would plan as a 10 or backup CF) to cover

Zirkzee isn't a striker. We'll need another one.

I think he's bulked up too much and completely less mobile this season and awkward, bit like when Torres when to Chelsea. If he cuts a bit of the muscle might be back playing okay again.
The muscle doesn't suit his qualities whatsoever and has seemed to slow his acceleration, ball control, movement, basically everything. He wasn't as bad as this last season.

Ah, the old "he's bulked up too much and lost speed" Caf argument.

Well yeah, there’s a reason for that.

We’ve spent too long giving players that aren’t good enough chance after chance, and it never changes anything. Hoijund has been here two seasons now, he’s not good enough and he’s never going to be good enough.

All the talk when Berada came in was about he gives players a maximum of two years, and if they aren’t up to it after that, his philosophy is to move them on. Well it’s time to prove himself now.

We've a bit of a track record though, so hardly a 'caf' argument. Lukaku's inter transformation from being quite rotund to ripped again is well known for example.

I think it's fair to say Hojlund looks bigger/heavier than when he arrived but he certainly does not seem faster or stronger for it. He looked gassed after 15mins or so vs Lyon even though he played ok that game, there's definitely some question marks to be asked of his conditioning.

Rasmus didn’t have a bad first season, and the expectation would be to have built on that this year. Clearly that’s not happened.

With the focus on Rashford. Antony and Sancho moving on - might be too much to ship him out as well.

Wouldn’t be adverse to a loan next season.

What about signing Welbeck or Vardy on a free then? Taking a similar role as Johnny Evans, but in attack. Would still be more useful than Ras

Depending on the wage and injury record that would be a decent shout imo.

Just checked that he's got a contract until 2026. But Vardy would also be an option
Nearly 36 y/o Welbeck would be rough but reckon he'd still offer more than what we have atm. Wouldn't touch Vardy with a barge pole.

I don't think it is too much, because a) those 3 guys aren't at the club anyway and b) I can't see how any replacement would be worse than Hojlund.
If we get 2 just decent players instead of these 4, it would clearly be progress.

Why so he can join Mount and Shaw on the physio table? Looks to be getting barely any game time at West Ham too.
Might be worth a punt. Loan with an option to buy type deal. If it works we get him cheap, if not we only covered his wages for a year.

Zirkzee is a striker. In our system it is his primary position and position where Amorim sees him.

Sure, he is not natural goalscorer and he can also play no10 position but up top is his primary position.

Hojlund has bulked up...gotten bigger & stronger...

So, explain why exactly this was the thought process when he still flops to the ground at the mere shadow of a defender...

He lacks far too many traits and will likely never develop into anything more than a bench option. Best solution would be sell him as soon as he manages to score a few goals and that may come whilst away on loan.

2 seasons is plenty of time to give a player the opportunity to prove he's premier League quality and it's beyond doubt now that Højlund isn't and probably won't be.
That's not to say he won't go on to have a good career somewhere else but I think a loan to Italy would give us the best chance to get a decent fee and for him to get a good permanent move.
I can't bare the thought of him being around the squad next year, he offers absolutely nothing.

I thought the Wolves game was one of the better games he has played for us recently.

Held the ball really wall. He was 1 inch away from scoring a goal with his slide. And he created a nice chance for himself when he did a clever turn and sprinted towards goal.

But not surprised at the barrage of criticism given the lack of goals
"Nearly scored" excuse can be used always and for every player. That is not even excuse, it is complete bollocks.
About that turn; turn was great but after that he first failed to pass to Mainoo which was easy and obvious pass. After that defender easily blocked him. So, he did one thing right and two wrong in that play.

I am shocked how standards about United striker/player dropped. We are in the stage where he basically needs to control the ball and try to make a shot (so, do basic thing for footballer player) and people come to say that he was decent.

I'm still oddly hopeful he can come good and start scoring a few from now until the end of the season. Just when we really need it. He has it in him. If he could just relax and fully show his game.

A big if, but if we were to make the Europa final I think he's got a goal written for him. Especially if it's Spurs

Then you know there’s going to be a horde of fans saying he should be given a chance next season, even if he scores a deflected goal from 2 yards out and the opposition goalkeeper essentially throughballs him for it in the final.

Ten Hag last year in the FA Cup final all over again

I'm sure there will be very few people saying this.

Bournemouth 1:1 Man Utd New
I'm hoping that goal gives him confidence because like him or not, we need him for the Europa

He scored a couple goals at the beginning of the season and it didn't do much for his confidence.

He's just a bad footballer

Very glad he nicked a goal. Here's hoping it gives him a little bit of confidence for Thursday.

Maybe, but i'd rather have some faith and belief in him until we see what happens at the end of the season, cause he's still a United player, and as I said - we need him for Europa as Zirkzee is injured and Chido isn't registered.
