Was always incredibly unfair to bring him in without an experienced first team striker to mentor him.
I’d 100% keep him around but get that experienced head in as the number 1 striker and allow Højlund to learn his trade and develop without that insane pressure.

This is fair. Imagine bringing in such a young striker to lead a struggling manchester united team. The pressure is too much especially given the money we paid (not his fault but it’s a fact). He has been very poor this season, very frustrating. But bringing in an experienced striker to lead the line with Hojlund rotating and developing would be the ideal situation. This is why a discussion to go for Delap is scary

Agreed, feels like doubling up on a mistake and fecking up both players.

He's been so bad for us that on the days where he's a 5 out of 10 such as yesterday, we've been conditioned into thinking it's a "good performance".

He's so far short of the standard required of a United centre forward. Probably the only thing keeping him at the club next year is the monumental loss we'd take on him if we tried to sell him.

His attitude seems bang on to me. He just needs, as many other players at the club the past decade have needed, to learn well in a coherent system. We need Osimhen this summer a proper centre forward finished article for Rasmus to learn from and act as understudy to.

Managed to sneak in a few other prem matches over the weekend, what stands out most to me is that all other teams are able to go long as an option - or sometimes as a strategy - and we just can't with Hojlund. Despite being an absolute unit, he's utterly useless at bringing down long passes up to him. Every other team manage to do this many times each match, with much 'smaller' players.

It's a huge issue which has impacts all the way back to the keeper - because the defense rightly believe that the only way to progress is through risky passes in our own final third because the outlet simply isn't available.

I swear Rasmus is really fast - why can't someone teach him to try being a Rashford forward for a while, just for variety? Stick on the back shoulder and make runs in behind. It seems so obvious.

He was every bit as bad as he's been all season. It was just that yesterday he managed to score one right at the end.

It was still a poor performance. He's so little threat , centre backs must love being up against him.

It was quite a nice finish for the goal so fair play for that. But let's not pretend it was an overall good display. Fingers crossed it gives him a boost and he plays well on Thursday but I wouldn't be too confident of that.

He has a high top speed but poor acceleration so yes, he's fast but he's not football fast.

Needs to be sold in summer especially with interest from Serie A. Really underperformed this season.

I think Delap is more versatile than Rasmus and he can play off the 10 positions too as a presser. I'd be more worried about Garnacho leaving than Rasmus as things stand but I'm prepared for anything this summer. We can't really get any worse and Rasmus unfortunately as much I want him to succeed is a major factor in that.

Wasn't good but credit for the goal in the right position and finished well. Much needed and hopefully will get a few more this season especially this week.

However needs to be sold once the season ends and we never again go through this with one striker who performs as poorly

He might go on and be a prolific striker, he might be a Gyokers in Brighton moment, but the problem is that United can not afford that platform for him at the moment, nor they can wait for him to get to that stage, if ever. Separation is the next logical step.

Wasn’t good enough again unfortunately. It was a rare moment where he happened to be in the right place at the right time, and put it past the keeper. A combination that rarely aligns.

Who actually wants to keep him, other than as back-up simply because we can’t take the FFP hit from selling him at a huge loss?
We don't need him as backup because of couple of things.
1) His price will drop even more
2) He offers nothing.
3) We will have Zirkzee and Obi as backups. There is no need to have 3 backup strikers.

Our major problem all these years was sticking with flops way too long. He had two seasons to prove himself, he failed. Time to let him go while we can get something for him.

Really need him to show up. It speaks volumes that we are going into a huge tie with most plans plotting how we can win, and nobody seems to consider that perhaps our striker might score a goal for us. I’ve read of hopes of a Maguire goal, a Bruno pen or long-range strike, and I’m thinking ‘hellloooo. We have a centre forward in the team too’. I think most fans would be pleasantly surprised if the goals came from him. If there was ever a time to do something this season, he’s entering into that stage now over what we hope are 3 crucial games.

Also, I think people will be surprised that Cunha will feature a lot as a 9 next season. He knows the role very well, and if we sign a centre forward, we will still have Zirkzee and Cunha, in addition to Obi who can all provide backup.

Let’s hope Rashmus can continue his red hot form of scoring a goal the other day and propel us into a commanding 2-1 first leg loss.

Ras, you must show up tonight. Make darting runs into space, anticipate where the play will unfold, be there first and take your chance when it presents itself. That's all I ask.

Athletic Club 0:3 Man Utd New
Might not have got the goal but I thought he was outstanding.

Scoring isn't there, but I think his holdup play has been quite good for some weeks now.

Did everything but score tonight, got us the penalty for the second and his battling kept us the ball to get the little flick from Ugarte to Bruno for the third. Thought he did really well all things considered

Didn't score, but really got under their skins.got them a man down. Moved us up the field at times by hold up and winning frees. A bit better. Keep going for rest of tournament. If you get us into CL all is forgiven, cause you'll probably help our funds to replace you ;)

Played well tonight apart from the goal not falling for him. It’s been a better week for him.

We need to unfortunately bin this guy off. It's over.
Practically got us 2 of the goals and helped us dominate the game and this is the response? This forum is unreal at times, can't even give praise when its deserved

That was pretty good, well played Rasmus. That game maybe makes even more of a case for him being a more effective player for a team on the continent rather than in the PL but gotta to give him the credit where it's due.
