When has keeping hold of a player done us any favours? Forget stock brokers, perhaps learn from the numerous mistakes this club has made in recent years and sell early.
Last summer we’d have gotten three quid and a packet of monster munch for Antony. A successful loan spell means we’ll probably get a good fee this summer.

Missed 2 sitters today and took 6 shots, probably one of his best league games for us this season.

Imagine having a good CF today who knows how to score...

Players like Manucho and Dong were cheap punts who were never expected to do much and didn't play much for the first team anyway. Not exactly a comparable situation.

Precisely, none of them were bought as anything other than a hopeful surprise as we already had quality options. Hojlund was purchased for insane money and has been given untold minutes. I really hope we are behind the days of decision making that signed Hojlund for such sums and gave him such status in the squad.

I know. He’s probably the worst striker we’ve paid a real transfer fee for. That isn’t really his fault, but it does determine how he is viewed.

I just hope that the club conducts a review of how we ended up buying the likes of Højlund, Antony, and Onana. All of them should have been discarded as ideas in the early phases of scouting them - or at least we should have put hard caps on how much we’d be willing to spend.

What happened to this guy? He wasn't exactly world class last season but he was levels above what he's managed this year.

He really wasn't outside of that month were he scored in every game. The same problems were present in his game, but because he was young and a new signing a lot of his issues were blamed on others. He was a little better last year, but the reality is that he has been one of the worst players on the pitch in about 80% of his matches for the club.

Another horror show performance. Missed a sitter, he was easily displaced from the ball, defenders must love him. This numpty is going to cost us the cup unless the midfielders and defenders have their striking boots on.

I actually saw the bookies giving 10/1 on Hojlund to score any time, and it wasn’t a promotional offer either. Says it all.

To send him out on loan we'd need to bring in 2 centre forwards, because we need to have a back up striker (unless we're planning on using Obi as the back up striker but I'm not sure he's ready for that).

So, realistically, are we capable of bringing in 2 decent, experienced centre forwards in the summer? I'd have my doubts, so I think due to lack of numbers he'll still probably be here next season as the back up striker.

His forward movement is horrible. I only watched the first half but he had plenty of opportunities to be slipped in but kept running away from the ball making it impossible for a pass. Only once did he run across the back line and he was slipped in straight away.

He only has his self to blame for lack of opportunities.

This is definitely something we need to learn as a club, the main issue though is that we need to sell for a price that doesn't register as a loss for PSR. I don't know the exact figures, but I doubt any offers we'd get for Hojlund would be enough for us to break even, which means he's likely to stay with us a bit longer.

Playing with him is like playing with 10.5 men all the time. The players don't trust him to get on some balls so they don't pass to him in certain positions. It slows our game, makes us look worse than we really are. He is a big reason for our shape and poor play.

Called it last season, not good enough and never will be. Geneiunely the worst No.9 that I have seen play for this club.

Remember when the TV commentators always used to say "there's a player in there somewhere"?

Not heard that soundbite much recently...

Sympathy for him because being put as United's starting No.9 at 20 with very little experience or goals is just nuts in hindsight. Completely mad. I also think he can still have a good career.

But as we did at the end of last season, we need to drop him and go for a false 9.

Starting him against Spurs would be based on hope and nothing else at this stage.

Okay, and that was two years ago? What has he learned with the 80-odd games of experience since then? Clearly there was nothing there all along.

I haven’t gone back to double check the exact quote when Berrada mentioned every player has 2 years to prove yourself at club…

Rasmus is really going to test that approach this summer.

His movement and positioning is quite possibly the worst I’ve ever seen from a number 9. And today he managed to make me dislike him even more by lying down prone on the ground after being disposed following a wrestle, only for us to win back the ball and carry on attacking whilst this useless prick carries on lying down.

No one can say he's not been given a fair chance.

Getting rid in the summer has to be a priorty.

So true. He has had a full season where he has shown nothing. And beyond Zirkzee, he has had no competition and for the most part been free on injury.

There isn't one redeeming feature to his game. Hold up is awful, no arial presence, touch terrible, decision making non existent and he puts himself into positions where he can't score goals.

Amorim has given him a fair crack. I really think we would be better going into the final without a striker. Play a false 9 or put an extra body in midfield.

Would Van De Ven and Romero be too concerned about playing against Hojlund? They could probably just leave him unmarked and he would still do nothing.

Ruined his career by signing for United unfortunately. We had no business buying him and only him and giving him no time to adapt and learn. Just shoulder the entire attacking burden of a giant club already at its absolute worst. No one would’ve had a chance in his position and now he’s the whipping boy, as if the disjointed attack that doesn’t work anywhere else on the pitch is entirely down to him. Shame, thought he could’ve been great with the right development.
You don't need to make excuses for him. He's just not very good sadly. The biggest mistake the club made was misprofiling a striker who was never worth signing (unfortunately this is a theme at this club)

He might become good in like 5 years after a lot of development at a lower level but right now he's honestly one of the worst strikers I've seen in a while. If anything his actually regressed since we signed him.

Bit generous, are you counting Bruno as 1.5?

He's just not very good is he, I struggle to see him getting any better. We signed him for his potential but his technical and physical flaws just seem too big be a United striker.

Becoming another in a long list of very poor signings.

Just hope there's a buyer next month. Is it just me that hope he was indeed injured last night and we can have someone plays as false 9 against Spurs? Probably will have more impacts then him keep losing the ariel battles.

Delap (30m) is his direct replacement i think.
Because? he will become better all of sudden?
Because he isnt ready for PL football yet he needs to take a step down while keep having the taste of british football. Unless the club didnt think he would improve and ready to take 50m loss right now, better roll the dice in this last attempt to save his united career.

Hoping for a player to be injured? Take a look at what you are writing. Højlund had a stinker of a game yesterday. He was really bad. Nothing to defend there. Could write that about a lot of players after that game though. It was horrible.

I think his mentality is going through Rashford/Lingard a few years ago:

1. A United fan living his dream playing for the club - tried as hard as he could

2. as time goes on, his fascination of playing for the boyhood club worn out, and his lack of fight exposed

this season I would categorise him as a lazy player

He has stopped pressing has he?

It's bad when he went down holding his shoulder and all I could think was this injury may be a blessing for the cup final.

Any striker going through a bad spell is not a pretty sight. When that said striker doesn't have anything resembling a talent for the top level in addition to that, then it turns into a horror movie.

He needs to be dropped for the final , I don’t care what he puts up there. Mainoo dropping off a little and playing as a false 9 , Garnacho hanging off the last defender anything is better than watching another 90mins of the worst striker we’ve had at the club

Why does he keep starting? Surely playing someone like Mount as false 9 would be more effective. Or give Obi a couple of games.

He’s terrible man, signs were there last season but to he’s been an utter travesty this year. He plays like he’s injured. Maybe he is who knows
