Eesh. Crazy how selling players never goes smoothly for us. The only way we seem to get them across the line is by torpedoing their value, à la Garnacho.
Honestly think we got just about what Garnacho is worth. Not like he is pulling up trees for Chelsea.

With Højlund, Antony, Rashford, etc. the fault lies with the fees and wages we fork out for mediocrity. Always rough selling a player cleanly when you have to take a major loss or the player has to accept lower wages.

This… isn’t true. He was goalless and playing poorly in his last 11 games running before the game against Chelsea. Funny how quiet you were in the last two months because of that, eh.

He has 6 league goals in Serie A. He’s hardly pulling up trees. He’s the exact same player, new league or not. A very bottom percentile shooter (like, barely more than one per 90) who hasn’t the nous, instinct, or quality to get more away a game.

The comparison to Lukaku is a funny one. A much derided player on here, yet Hojlund would be lucky to be a quarter of the player.
I wasn´t comparing Rasmus and Romelu, just stating that Romelu is getting sh.. on as well despite having scored around 400 career goals. Lukaku is totally underrated, even though he is somewhat past his peak at this point. Højlund, Sesko & Zirkzee are still at the beginning of their careers.

Rasmus went 7 and not 11 games without scoring after the brace against Cremonese on the 28th of december. If you do a bit of context, Napoli has lost form due to the injuries of KdB and David Neres, the two most important players providing the support to Højlund. Rasmus struggles without support, and that influences his goal tally. It is not rocket science.

If I am quiet or not is pretty simple. I comment on what I see and I try not to be judgemental. I haven´t been able to see a lot of Napoli games in the last month or so, but I saw the Chelsea game and the 2-2 game against Inter, where he was really good.

Still the same deficiencies in his game. Fingers crossed they make the UCL and we get our €45m. I’d much rather give Sesko a chance to develop and see if he’s able to push on.

Completely agree. If he was a better player then another club would have come in and offered more, surely. He doesn’t really start for Chelsea. Forty million quid seems like a decent price for United.

Is it possible they might fail to qualify for next season’s CL? Because then they have no obligation to sign Hojlund. Which could be a real headache for us.
Definitely with Spalletti at Juve and Gasperini at Roma. If I had to guess their exact position it would be 5th. Which could or could not be enough. No more European matches helps though.

Irrespective of Hojlund’s talent or lack thereof, and from the injuries to KdB and Neres, people just need to take a look at the number of goals scored overall in Serie A. This season is one the lowest scoring so far.
Add to that the cultural factor where tactics and keeping solid are still very much a thing in Italy, and you realize that no strikers will be pulling insane numbers there.
If he were to score 2 goals today, he’d be the 2nd top scorer in Italy with 8 goals

I think Seško is overrated here. He’s tall yet never looks physically imposing. And I’ve seen nothing to suggest his technical ability is any better than that of Højlund.

From what I’ve seen, Seško might have the smarter movement out of these two, but not sure he has the determination and composure to make anything out of it. Højlund is very fast and a decent finisher, so it’s not outlandish to suggest he has more potential than Seško.

He has yet to do much but he has demonstrated a clear ability to do things that Hojlund cannot. For one he actually takes shots and competes in the air. He is far superior physically and his touch, although he has had his own moments of first time passes to the opposition too often.

Yes. He was bad last season, but he is looking sharp since joining Napoli. Sesko has not really arrived yet despite the recent progress.
Would you? Sure am glad you aren't the one making these decisions.

As it was when I wrote it, yes. I would have preferred Rasmus. I am really glad that Sesko has arrived though, and I have never said anything to belittle his talent. On the contrary. I was one of those arguing to give him time to settle. He seems to have done that. Kudos. Rasmus is still having a great season despite Napolis injury problems and I think he would have been good for us as well. And btw. You cannot wind me up by dragging old posts up weeks later. I am not three years old.

Rasmus' great season is 9 serie a goals in 1921 minutes while sesko has 8 in 1133. So has been more profilific over minutes played in a much tougher league

When do you think he'll arrive?
Sesko has been really effective in the last couple of weeks, and I am happy for him. Why would I deny the obvious? I hope Sesko will continue to score goals for us and outdo all strikers in the history of the club. And btw. Read the post right before yours.

The comparison shouldn't be with Sesko but with Zirkzee who should have got the boot. Hojlund would have been a good backup to Sesko.

Napoli 8 points clear of 5th. Looks like his transfer is going to happen. :)
