Please god, be true.
That is such a non update though. We have known that he may leave this summer since the season ended but it is still contingent on Ruben getting a replacement and somebody offering us a deal worth taking.
Please god, be true.
He probably asked someone at the club if they'd be open to selling Hojlund and that person went "ehhhh...probably".Quite a vague update from Ornstein.
I guess he said this on a podcast or something. He didn't tweet it, so im taking this as more speculative.

Must be confident we'll land another 9 then
Seems Atalanta just sold Retegui to the Saudi PL for a decent sum. Have they already lined up a replacement or is there any chance they might be interested in taking Hojlund back?
Yeah, they’re forwards and attackers always seem to thrive - though they’ve lost Gasperini, so not sure how big an impact that’ll have on themHe’d be good for them- they’ve always been an attacking team, and he’s shown he can do more in Serie A than in the Prem. Could bump up his value.
They also have Scamacca coming back from injury and he did well for them before the ACL so they might not feel they need a replacement. If they did take him back it would almost certainly be a loan offer at this stage but that isn't the worst news as a strong season in Serie A might well boost his value in the way Ekitike restored his value after leaving PSG and joining Frankfurt.Yeah, they’re forwards and attackers always seem to thrive - though they’ve lost Gasperini, so not sure how big an impact that’ll have on them
Yeah all their values are shot, loans might be the only offers we get. They also have Scamacca coming back from injury and he did well for them before the ACL so they might not feel they need a replacement. Feel like we need to get real about Obi's current level. He can go regardless for me, far rather picking from Mbeumo, Amad/Bruno/Mainoo, Cuhna as the front three, or have Zirkzee and Obi as our strikers if not.
And we take Ederson?Seems Atalanta just sold Retegui to the Saudi PL for a decent sum. Have they already lined up a replacement or is there any chance they might be interested in taking Hojlund back?

Well to be fair he was 19 and predominantly coming off the bench playing as a wide forward with another striker. I do think he would score at minimum 15+ league goals for a decent Serie A side but he fits certain tactics better than others and is certainly not suited to play as a lone striker or in a target man role.He scored 9 goals in a free scoring Atalanta team. This one would be a bit different and I reckon he would struggle
That would be a very good swap for us!And we take Ederson?

Well yeah, and then much less. How so? He scored more league goals in his first PL season than he did in Serie A...
Yeah completely agreeHe might have a good career, but I can’t see it being here. Last season was so spectacularly awful, doesn’t feel like he can come back from it.
You make a valid point, so what about if we can't find a club interested in signing him this summer?I'm genuinely tired of seeing so many posters in different threads naively want to keep him. ''Allow him to play backup to a more senior striker and take the weight off of him''
He's been so bad despite numerous chances and untold patience. It's actually criminal people want to waste more time on him. He doesn't get shots off and he doesn't contribute anything to general play. He might turn it around and go on to have a good career but we're not a charity. There just has to be consequences of having two seasons being a starter at Manchester Utd and performing so poorly. Would any other title aspiring club tolerate such mediocrity? Come on...
Well we're stuck with him then! You make a valid point, so what about if we can't find a club interested in signing him this summer?
I'd imagine less likely since they've loaned Ferguson with option to buy.Roma Press are suggesting that Dovbyk could be on the move before the window closes with a couple of PL clubs said to be circling and if that happens they want Rasmus to replace him. It is Italian club media so not terribly reliable but the fact that Gasperini is now the head coach at Roma does make it plausible due to their time at Atalanta together.
The Ferguson deal was for depth rather than to replace Dobvyk though, he was just replacing Shomurodov in their squad, he has some potential but has been a non factor for two seasons now due to injuries and loss of form and so he is more of a punt to back up their first choice. If Dobvyk goes then they will be looking for a starting striker and if you want to go back to when Atalanta were putting the screws to us on the Hojlund deal there were plenty of comments from Gasperini about how he saw Hojlund as a future superstar and a great talent so it is not a stretch that he would want to sign him for Roma, especially as we are probably going to be willing to offer any buyer very favourable terms.I'd imagine less likely since they've loaned Ferguson with option to buy.
What about Chido? It's unfortunate how he's been derided. Young player has tough season in a campaign where the entire team collapsed. Still think he will be a top player and won't mind him Sesko and zirkzee battling it out.
Nowhere near ready for the first team in my opinionWhat about Chido?
Yes but having 3 strikers in front of him will severely limit his chances of minutes to develop.Nowhere near ready for the first team in my opinion
Hojlund will leave when we sign someone I think. He will be told that he’s now surplus to requirements. Probably on loan with option to buy.Yes but having 3 strikers in front of him will severely limit his chances of minutes to develop.
