I don’t think Hojlund or Zirkzee are similar to Sesko in play style so the system is compromised when they come in (assuming we get Sesko)

- Fast: Zirkzee is slow
- Technical: Hojlund is clumsy

I actually think it would be better to sell them both and bring in a more suitable/similar backup striker - not sure who though

With Sesko probably going to Newcastle, we have another season of this guy leading the line. Better hope something clicks for him now.

It's not even a debate. If the ball hits you last before it goes into the goal, it's your goal whether you intended to make contact with it or not.

It's sadly why the Zirkzee 'goal' was ruled out last season away at Brighton.
Forgot about that  that was the moment we knew we were in for another shit show of a season.

All well and good he wants to stay and fight for his place but end of day club don't want him, no choice at moment as we dont have another CF to pick apart from academy kid. He isnt going to be a starter and with one game a week he won't be the number 9 in starting line up every week if new CF comes in.

RBL are really good in identifying talents, especially strikers. If they want him maybe he is not that bad as many of us say. If they take him they will probably sell him with a lot of profits in a couple of years.
I definitely don't think Hojlund's as bad as he looked last season. I don't see the value in keeping him in the event we sign Sesko though, I'd only keep if we moved for a more experienced option alongside him. Having two players of the same age profile competing with each other feels a bit pointless.

If its a straight loan then that would be a good move for all parties, we've seen how pacy players do against high defensive lines in the BL, it'd be a good 'shop window'.

Good on him.
Why? We will sign Sesko and he’s going to be sat on the bench. It would be a great move for his career to go there and develop. He plays well in European games, but can’t transform that into premier league games.

“Rasmus, we need your help. We can’t have another season like last season. We need players in to be competitive. You can help by going to RB getting amongst the goals and developing your build up play too. We will then bring you back from loan and you’ll compete for a place in the team”

Why would he? has a much better platform to perform now. The pressure would be off he won’t be the lone striker that we expect goals from.

In a world where people stink up a fuss and try to actively leave clubs while holding them to ransom, or clubs trying to hold players to ransom and forcing them to leave, I suppose it's nice sometimes so see a player that is determined to try and achieve something at the club he supports.

Loyalty is only nice and welcome when you profit from it

Well he wasn’t the lone striker last season when Zirkzee came. Why do you think Sesko is going to make a difference? It’s clear that he’s not suited to the prem and he needs to develop his game somewhere else. His performances in the prem compared to Europe show that.

He won’t get much game time, I think Amorim will pick Zirkzee as second choice if he has a choice. .

He’s not going there because his arrogance thinks it’s a step down for him. If Real Madrid came for him, he would be on the first plane to Madrid.

Someone close to him needs to tell him that he needs to go somewhere where he can develop his game and get his confidence back.

Player who scored 4 premier league goals last season goes out of his way to say to the press he’s going nowhere when links of a replacement are inbound — good on him

He’s got some nerve. If I underperformed to the degree that he did last season at my job I’d expect to be let go. It’s one thing to want to stay, but anyone with some awareness would know that after that - there’s every chance that the club has no confidence in him and want him out. What does it serve a player to insist to stay when your employer doesn’t actually want you anymore?

I don’t believe in refusing to allow players to leave who want to leave a club, and I also don’t think players should insist on staying where they are not wanted. Once the trust/agreement is gone between both parties - the only step is to either convince the other party so that both parties are once again aligned, or it becomes a question of numbers.

I hope he at least talks to them and sees what they have to say. If he decides after that it’s not for him then that’s his call.

Basically what I’m saying is I hope he gives them a chance to change his mind!

That's the thing, nobody at the club told him he had to go or he wasn't wanted. Romano has repeated several times that the club had never sent him any signal that he had to leave.
Why would he want to leave? He's started most games last season and you haven't brought a new striker. Even if you do, he'd still be #2 which means plenty of playing time. I dont see why he'd want to leave unless he's openly pushed out the door.

They are consequences for only having a few touches every match and only a shot once in a blue moon for an entire season.

Unfortunately he might need to be the extra piece that sweetens the deal for Sesko.

For 30m Everton, Villa, Fulham etc should get in there
Fulham have Muniz and Jiminez. Both had double the goals that Hojlund had in the league last year. Everton have Beto, who scored 8 league goals and have just signed Barry for £27m.

Nobody in the league is touching him for £30m.

Jan-Aage Fjörtoft again? For real?

Still think we need to add one striker to Hojlund, not replace him with one. Probably in the minority, but I'm not ready to give up on him just yet.

This is a player who, in the two premier league seasons he has been at this club, has averaged just over 1.5~ shots per 90 minutes. He is the very bottom percentile in the premier league at getting shots away. That to me, very much suggests it’s not a “he’s a young player learning”, or a “Man Utd’s system isn’t working” or “the players aren’t finding him” — it’s a Ramsus Hojlund fundamental flaw that he cannot excel in this league. It may be too fast, too strong, I don’t know. But a player who has played 62 premier league matches and cannot get more than 1 and a half shots a game is just not going to succeed here.

For his own sake, he should move to a club like Leipzig who have history of improving forwards and get some confidence back in his game.

Obviously the whole conversation is moot if the club don’t want him to leave. They can’t sell him to Leipzig without actually wanting to, so if that isn’t the case then what we’re talking about here is basically him forcing his way out. I doubt that’s the case.

If he hasn’t been communicated to yet, I’m sure he will be at some point. We’ll see what happens then.

I have watched approximately 185 minutes of this sport. One half of a Chelsea match last year, and one and a half of Manchester United's summer series matches this year. I'm not sure what I'm looking for in a player or style, but I enjoyed watching Hojlund. Of the players on this team, and based on what I've read of this thread, is Hojlund not that great of a player?

We should tell him he is behind Chido. Maybe that could change his mind.

Doubt Ratcliffe and Co are as sentimental as fans. They'll happily get rid of Hojlund if a decent offer comes in. It's obvious he's got no future here

About the bolded part, if that's the case it should have been done as soon as the season ended. What's the point of waiting until there's only one month left in the window.

To me it's pretty clear that the club counts on him whether they manage to recruit a striker or not. You only have 2 strikers (Rasmus and Zirkzee), even if you start just one, you need at least 3 for the season (even though I think Mbeumo is great at the 9 and will probably play there a lot if no ST signs). I understand why fans want him gone but when you look at the club's activity this summer, I dont think they plan to get rid of him.
