I just can’t see him accepting a move, sadly. I think he’ll dig his heels in and say he isn’t moving.

Good source too, I expect him to leave this summer given the brief.

He will be snapped up at 30m.

Guessing this confirms we're getting Sesko and we are going for one more position.

I like how Omar said you have 2 seasons to perform and we are being ruthless.

Even if the club had already signed a true talisman, this makes no sense. In this market, £30m is nothing.

Unless he can be part of the package to Leipzig, don’t take such a massive bath on his valuation.
It is something. It makes Sesko "only" costs 45m from our books and most of that is probably in installment too. We will demand 30m up front. Cash flow is everything for us these days.

Surely the club is not briefing this. 30m. Sell at his absolute lowest value. Daft wouldn't be strong enough a word.

While it's a big PSR hit, £30M is still too much for him, I dont see which clubs can invest this kind of money on a reclamation project like Højlund with dubious resale value. And there are way too many better options in that price range or cheaper. Also he doesnt seem like the kind of guy who'd go to Saudi Arabia at this point of his career.

“Something” is not good financial prudence. It’s like taking your jewelry to a pawn shop to then run into the Ferrari dealership to buy something you can’t afford.

If you’re going to sell Rasmus, at least wait until you buy Sesko and then sell him to Newcastle or another desperate club for twice that amount. Or keep him for another year. If none of this can be done due to money gymnastics, then we’re out of our depth.

Pretty much any top league will take a punt, Milan, Inter maybe even Napoli.

He isn't a bad punt, or a newly promoted team. 30m is not a lot for a 22 y/o striker

It's not getting caught into sunk cost fallacy.

No, it's not about whether we eventually sell or not. It's about not selling a young player at his absolute lowest value when keeping him in a more functional squad or loaning him into a better environment will almost certainly increase his value.

Maybe Napoli yea, Inter is pretty much set in attack. Atlético Madrid as a depth option. Too expensive for Milan and most french/german clubs.
Same problem with Antony, flopping at Utd kills his resale value which is important for the tier of clubs who coudl be interested in him.

We need to improve the squad though, and keeping us won't do us too many favours.

Not everything needs to happen immediately. I also hold the view that last season was not a true reflection of his value as a player.

Hold up play....

I don't even rate Højlund but I can't stand these compilations.

That clip contains 10 involvements and some of them aren't even particularly bad. He has 95 appearances for us. If he averages 30 involvements per appearance (probably not too far from the truth) then that clip consists of 0.35% of his involvements.

Correct.

Just when I think this club is moving in the right direction, they do something so absurd that makes you rethink everything.

I hope this is all bollocks.

It will never be ‘absurd’ or any other similar abjective for Manchester United to sell Rasmus Hojlund. He has absolutely no business here, try as he might - he’s well out of his depth and we cannot go into next season with him. He went to such a low last season that he cannot be trusted again.

I agree with the talent around him not being great, but he did nothing to show was able to do the basics.

Let's remind ourselves what we have in Hojlund. Last 80 shots....

To be fair to him, there also weren't a lot of quality chances (which he is also probably partly to blame for). What was his xG last season?

So the briefing has started. It’s best if he moves and rebuilds his career somewhere else. I wasn’t too fussed whether it was him or Zirkzee, but one of them has to leave in the summer.

I think that's very largely down to him. We aren't a side that creates lots of chances but I think his lack of instincts, positioning and really inconsistent touch are a huge reason that he doesn't get many chances.

Garnacho, Amad, Bruno and even Obi when he's played manage to find more opportunities than him regularly.

For me the biggest issue isn't even his goals from last season because it was a shitty season anyway.
The issue is he can't / doesn't know how to use his strength.

If he doesn't want to go, then we can't force him, but would he really stay if we explicitly told him we want him to go?

30m seems a smudge on the low side, I'd be hoping for a meaningful resale clause.

It is. But we are not very good at selling and nobody in the top end clubs is paying £30m. Chelsea just managed to sell Broja for £20m and he scored a grand total of 0 goals in his last two seasons.

Correct.

When they start reporting it, it looks like a briefing. They are maybe setting down a marker in negotiations with Leipzig, Hojlund is 30m of whatever figure you set for Sesko.

I think it's completely misguided.

Going to Leipzig would be good for him. I understand his desire to stay at his dream club, but if he has another season similar to the last one, his value will only further deteriorate. He's been here for two years now and besides the little purple patch, he has hardly shown anything to suggest, that he has the quality to succeed at this level.
Nonetheless he is entitled to refuse a transfer and try to fight for his place. I just hope his agent/advisors know what they're doing and don't set him up for failure, by having him sit on the bench for the next few years. He really needs to play, if he wants to improve.

It might be a loss but we have to make these bold decisions and offload as many players as possible to move forward

He lacks of technique in his general play. He is poor in aerial duel. He is physically not suitable for PL, keeps getting bullied and outmuscled by PL defenders. He’s not a fox in the box either. I also think the fact that he has small amount of shooting attempt is because of his movement/positioning in the box and his shooting technique but this is something he can develop. I’m not too sure if he has the talent to develop his aerial duel, his general technique, and his general hold up play. The only asset he has is his pace. There are too many weaknesses in him and with those weaknesses I don’t think he has the aspects to be world class or even PL top striker. I think if we can sell him for £30m then we should do. It’s actually no brainer to take £30m considering that he has too many weaknesses to play in PL.

Perfect briefing. Wake up call to Hojlund that he’ll get banished like the fab 4 if he tries to stay.

RB also gotta hurry if they’re serious about swapping him with Sesko otherwise I’m sure a few other clubs will definitely go for him as well at a 30m price point.
RB might’ve been assuming they’ll bring that price further down in swap negotiations but United have now taken their advantage away of getting first dibs on Hojlund.

It’s honestly like some of you want us to be awful forever, he’s not good enough, he’s never going to be good enough. If we got £30m I’d snap your hand off, like do people realistically think that’s on the low side? Who on earth is going to pay more than that for him

If he says he wants to stay tell him he’ll essentially get no minutes this year and that Sesko, Zirkzee and Obi are all ahead of him in the pecking order and he’ll change his tune quick enough

Time to start being ruthless and getting players out the door before their value drops to nothing, not holding on to them on the chance that they have a good loan or cause “there’s a player in there” when there so clearly isn’t,

It's not even a PSR hit.

Who? Why aren't we perusing them? Seems a no brainier for £30m to upgrade.
