This is a very poor PL but I think they need to soon be very concerned about Champions League qualification. Arsenal, City, Spurs, Newcastle, United, Bournemouth along with Liverpool will all have designs upon a CL finish, and it looks far from certain for them.
They’ve been in the final of this competition the past two seasons. They had lost 5 of their last 6 games before tonight (6 out of 7 now) and they spent £500 million during the summer.
So yes, yes they absolutely should be that bothered about the league cup.

Liverpool do this though. That's why it annoys me the likes of Salah and VVD getting compared to players like Rooney, Vidic who went year after year winning titles not letting their standards drop. Serial multiple title winners, similar to City players recently.
If you look throughout PL history the only times the reigning Champions have lost 4 times in a row are Leicester in 16/17, which was expected as they fluked a title; City last season, who dipped after winning 4 titles in a row that has never been done before; then the other two times are the only two times Liverpool have been champions. They also followed up a near quadruple season in 21/22 with a really poor 22/23 season. This is what they do, hopefully it lasts all season. I don't see any quick fix, their squad is an unbalanced mess.
