RAWK Goes Into Lockdown 25/26 Shieldless Edition - £500m down the drain, the champions have dropped points again!

Predicted they'd struggle this year after Isak signed, I also feel like this will set them back years after their spend.

Genuinely baffling how they sign Ekitike then still sign Isak.

I wonder what will give at the end of the season, I kind of feel like Salah will be forced out which is really sad for all he's done.

Should have walked at the end of the season.

Early days but it seems like Ekitike fits their football much better than Isak. All of Isak's good work was in a side that gave him a chance to use his legs and run. Unclear with Pool if that'll be possible as they'll be camped around the box most of the time.

Ekitike's link up looked class early on and I thought they had something going between Gakpo, Wirtz and Ekitike on the left albeit at the expense of Salah.

Maybe you're right -- he's trying too hard to fit Salah in and get him firing with all of these guys. It'll be interesting if he goes back to GW1 tactics basically and drops Salah for a game in favor of a Frimpong.

Looks like this year could be "their year" again. The drop-off couldn't come at a more perfect timing according to our olde' Scouse boom bust chart:

Hello there old friend.

Where’s the videos of that bald scouser having a meltdown on his watchalong?

That seems kinda made up / cherry picked. They had some chances but 3xG? Understat's model has it at 2.61xG - 2.53xG. Similar with markstats (2.86 xG - 2.67 xG)

We'll wait for fbref I guess?
Any touch by Salah around the box adds 0.25 to their xG. I honestly don't see very often with Pool where they get their xG from, especially this season.

Great. Now I want to die
such a uniquely 'Liverpool' video. Why are they like that? Plus the constant mawkishness and 'echoes in eternity' banners/poetry. It's like they live in a world where the word cringe was never invented.

My favourite bit is when it pans to the right at the start and the kid in the shorts is just stood grinning thinking, as if this lot are doing this shit.

Keep this serious shit out of here.

Yeah, I noticed a couple of awful banners as the teams were coming out, really cringey stuff.

NIFN scooping up New
Thanks, at least something..

1, here comes the 2, to the 3, to the 4
And we’ve lost another game, can’t take anymore
Two MFs on the pitch, Slot’s messing on the floor
Oh my, good Lord

Amorim’s now got a double win in the league
At Anfield, with the worst United team in history
No more parties downtown, help this team
Everybody at the club’s needing fixing

Pain. Just pain. Probably gonna be the last poem. Pulling out all of the superstitions to get us out of this rut we’re in. Change the sub icon, the tactics, the threads. We’re gonna reformat.
Its too many players brought in ine one transfer period and slot can't just make them click together.
Salah is prime example. He feels lost.
...
Our team sheet is full of egos. We don’t have enough players willing to do the dirty work. Salah is a prime example.
I love that man to bits but him not passing to Wirtz or Isak yesterday was criminal. He clearly isnt adapting well to not being “the man” anymore.
Van Dijk for me has also been a bit off. His defending against Chelsea and M.United were lazy in my opinion for the goals.
Lastly, Gakpo must have Slots nudes or something. It astonishes me how he constantly starts. Ekitike and Wirtz have both looked better on the left than Gakpo with Isak in the middle.
Gakpo was desperately unlucky and IMO one of our best players yesterday. He's doing the "dirty work" and getting stuck in. he could've had 4 or 5 yesterday. that sitter he missed was awful but so was Salah's. I agree with everything else you said, especially with Salah's ego. he's so used to the team playing through him. I'd sell him in Jan and cash in for him
..
This is not an overreaction but it took us so long to escape the Banter era but it is so easy to fall back into it. I'm not saying it is right now but if this form continues, and there are no signs that show it won't, then we are in freefall.
It's very difficult to climb back once a team drops off. We have seen this with all top teams. So the next few weeks would be crucial to our overall future. Once other teams loses their fear and start smelling blood, it will become more difficult to win games.
the team has no juice. absolutely miserable to watch this year.
It’s not just 4 defeats in a row though, the performances have been mostly awful since the turn of the year. There is no playing style, no identity.
We spent a lot of money and he still hasn’t figured out how to use Wirtz. He constantly starts underperforming players like Macca and Gakpo, while Chiesa is left to rot on bench. Losing to this United side at home is terrible.
...
I know some people are already saying Diogo’s passing has fecked with their heads because of how tragic it was and it’s really affecting the way they play, and I get it, they are human just like us, but I also think the way Slot has set up these players isn’t helping as well. I don’t know but from I’m seeing the team isn’t being managed well right now. He has basically set them up with the same playstyle for the entire season so far, and for the last 2 games we’ve basically started the same exact players.
One theory I have is that Slot has toned down his ruthless coaching from last season due to Jota's passing, and this relatively more relaxed and compassionate approach doesn't put as much pressure on the players to perform at ridiculously high levels. Not winning has become acceptable now.
I have much sympathy for Jota, his brother and family and those Liverpool players who were affected by his tragic passing. But for heaven’s sake, 4 months have gone by since that tragedy. I am not saying we should forget Jota. His memory will live on. But it is time to move on. Players, esp Salah, need to regain their focus and sense of purpose. They are paid absurdly high salaries to deliver excellent performances
I see where you're coming from - but I suspect losing a colleague is not something one can easily "move on" from completely after merely 4 months. Yes, they are professionals and should have steel mentalities, but I don't think losing a teammate is something "normal" in the footballing world that all pros should be expected to adapt to quickly.
...
just don’t understand ekitike, wirtz, frimpong, and chiesa on the bench… as soon as they came on, there was life in the team.
Well feck me for looking forward to this match i guess
...
How bad was Konate again.
he wasn't though. Virgil was poor today
...
Has anyone seen a replay of their keeper picking up the ball after putting it down? I haven't seen it mentioned since which makes me wonder if my eyes deceived me
ever seen a player get bowled over from behind and then a free awarded because the opposition tripped over him after he was put on the ground.
...
I swear it looks like a Sunday league game out there. The CBs slowly walk the ball up to the opposition, try to play a through ball and lose it… every single time.

0-1 against Man Utd at Anfield and ZERO urgency is insane.
perfectly worded. I feel like comparison to klopp's prime Liv just gives me a heartache
...
Allison saves one or both of those today
...
When’s the next international break mehnnn
Three weeks
...
We really can’t afford to lose either of the Frankfurt or Brentford games but after the recent performances I really don’t have high expectations
I fully expect to lose both unless Slot makes some genuine adjustments
Ekitike must start every game, i dont care what we paid for Isak. He made an impact as soon as he came on and was by far the best attacker today.
...
Well the 500 back and sideways passes probably put everyone to sleep. Crowd was up for it after the equalizer but the 2nd goal killed the energy completely
Anfield might as well be a library with how it’s been since last year. Could hear a pin drop there.
...
Anybody know when Isak is going to be available to play?
Bruh… we’re already cooked, why cooking us more?
...
can somebody tell the bald fraud to start chiesa already feck
calling your OWN manager a bald fraud is insane work. feck off
...
Ah the United mate:

My mate is a United fan and even said they were really lucky to win today. Yet online the whole discourse is different.
I expected these kinds of comments to be made tomorrow, that's how it goes usually. Regardless of the funny timing, we lost against United at Anfield
...
Salah's worst seasons always seems to come just after he's signed a new contract
Salah should've been given a 1 year contract extension instead of 2. Club didnt bother to succession plan either.
Isak and Wirtz are the succession plan. You don't just buy a right winger to replace him, football doesn't work that way.
...
Next week is going to show if Slot is actually willing to adapt because we play Brentford who are going to play the exact same way as Palace and United it’s going to be a low block with constant long ball.
So far he’s shown absolutely no willingness to adapt to it yet City and Arsenal face the exact same thing and don’t struggle anywhere near as much
Have you heard his press conference? He seems to be happy with how we played, except the chances missed. I guarantee no changes will be made
...
can't believe we let Reuben "Fiddling with my little tactics board against League 2 Grimsby Town" Amorim beat us. At fecking Anfield.
He schooled slot with that pathetic utd squad. Imagine what he can do with a real squad.
...
I know it is hard for a lot of you tribal footy noobs but the fact is we now how have our own bald fraud.
...
Arne Slot had two weeks to think through our defeats against Palace and Chelsea and put forth a plan for how to improve, and then started the exact same 11 with the same naive tactic. Highly disappointed by the manager here
Two weeks of time after losing 3 games in a row and not having played a good solid game for god knows how long and this is the result of what he can conjure up.
...
Maybe I'm being over emotional here because we just lost to that shite team and given that shite manager his first b2b wins but Slots on fraud watch now
Also this United team firmly outplayed Arsenal for 90 minutes staight, they prob finish 6th or 7th they arent awful
saw someone mention how we built a £500m team around gakpo and it made me chuckle
Icing on the cake is some PRICK in AU7 stuck chewing gum to the back of my jeans on the way out without me noticing and its stuck in that, my new training top and mates car seat. Scummy twats.
Everything else aside, I think we’re being dishonest with ourselves. Hearing Slot’s and VVD’s post match takes is like a summary. Don’t tell us what we saw; we’ve already seen how badly you played. Tell us what is going on. Tell us what you prepared for, what you expected your opponent to do, why it did not turn out the way you wanted to.
Last year Slot was so open and honest about the outcomes.
Looking at the games coming up, and based on our performance this whole season and morale right now, we may legit lose 8-9 games in a row
If our performance does not improve in the coming weeks, this will be the biggest test for Michael Edwards. Will he show his ruthlessness or not?
God you lot saying "Slot out" are utter and complete bitches. No composure at all, total headloss. You're embrassing to the fanbase.

fecking couch potatoes telling professionals they aint good enough is a feckin laugh.
This is the season we should have been having last year with a new manager, it's just been delayed.
Holly Molly I have to admit I miss Jurgen very much
Since fergie retired, Man Utd and Liverpool have played each other 30 times: 10 wins each, 10 draws

Make that make sense. Absolutely embarrassing from us.
I miss the times when Slot was touted as Paisley 2.0 after Klopp (Second coming of Shankly) passed the torch to him
Came into my office this morning to find Cantona, Beckham, Neville, and Ronaldo taped over my family photos. These are not the times I used to pray for.

Liverpool returning to a Banter club is what I have been praying for. I literally do not know if my Dipper mate would be able to survive going back to that. He has been absolutely insufferable since around 2019. A return to that will likely break him, as like most Dippers he got completely carried away by the last 5-6 years of success. And no, he will get zero sympathy as whilst he is my mate he is also a Dipper so needs to learn the hard way.

Not related to a specific post but in general, it’s funny how xG is suddenly a meaningful stat again, I wonder why.

First Andy Carroll, and now Isak. Liverpool aren't off to a great track record getting strikers from Newcastle.

Thanks, at least something..

That comment about 10 wins, 10 draws and 10 losses each since Fergie retired is surprising. It's felt way more one sided than that but I guess that's because some (a lot) of those losses have been absolute horror shows.

Yup, the big ones i remember are the Europa loses when LvG was there. The 4-2 loss which gave them the confidence and get 4th back in 2020-21 season, the 5-0 at OT, the 4-0 reverse fixture in 21-22 season. The 7-0 in 22-23, the 0-3 last season.
