Really good thing the people in charge didn't listen to OGS... we got Zirkzee, Mount, Antony, Højlund and Sancho instead.

Haaland and Bellingham were never coming here even if we tried hard to go for them. Also anyone with eyes could see they had talent, so it's the OGS fluff is hilarious

How the hell that city and others get bargain price while United always the big fish price

Dont understand how City get some of these prices. I still think its a strange one, not a typical Pep signing but maybe he wants something different, especially with Grealish on his way out. Would have loved to see this player at United but dont think he fits Amorim's system.
Don't think it's City getting some super discount price, it's just that Cherki was a good deal for a team that could accomodate him this summer.

He has one year left, wants to leave to take the next step, they had a gentleman agreement with the club and a deal with Dortmund for €23M in january that fell through when their coach veto'd the deal last second. Lyon is in financial trouble so when City called they tried to extract a little bit more and Cherki was cool with them doing so.
He was available for cheap for the past few months but only City moved for him.

Not really sure what that means. Newcastle moan about the oil tax, City generally seem to get away without it. They move quickly as well.

Lyon are in deep financial trouble. They will sell other players soon but Cherki was clearly the one to get. At that price should have went in to make him rotate with Saka/Odegaard.
Malick Fofana looked a player against us. I expect him to be looked at by clubs for sure.

Don't care about OGS and not crying about him losing his job. It's about not getting those players on the list and instead getting worse players for more money.

Didn’t we think that with Donnie van der Beek?

It’s not a release clause they are paying, if he flops they will take a hit.

that is a bad example. Have you seen both play? even if Cherki cant take the physicality of the league his technique is light years ahead of Donnies.

Also add the fact that City generally sell better than us anyway, they will sell him within a year if he doesn't work. VDB lasted 4 years at United, he didn't go on loan until his second year.

I would always take City's reported fees with giant pinch of salt. With the money City have and the fact there is no chance at team in Europe or Saudi wouldn't have beaten 35mil for this talent even on 1 year left on his deal.

Quite a bargain for him. Hope it’s true about his bad attitude. Pep doesn’t like players like that

Because that price doesn't include all the backhanders they'll be getting from City/Abu Dhabi

Indeed.

City are making some great deals so far this summer. Reijnders, Aït-Nouri and Cherki for the price of Wirtz is really good business.

Not true at all, the opposite actually, his teammates and both his coaches have praised his attitude and leadership all season.

Nothing to see here, everybody in france knew he had a gentleman agreement for €23M with OL, Dortmund triggered it in january but eventually reneged on the deal, PSG also moved for him while Dortmund was considering. If another club had moved earlier than City for him, they could have gotten him at that price. Since it was City, Lyon tried to get a little more, which they managed to do apparently, because they really really need it. Nothing shady about this deal, just City were quicker to move than anybody else and able to quickly convince the player to join and I actually think they paid a City tax.

OGS first recommended Haaland when he was 16, cherki at 15, Bellingham at 17/18

So around £35m package. Basically around what a top talent in the championship costs. Some deal for city.

Must of just been the negativity when we was interested then. Always praise when it’s other teams

Why is Ole getting credit for Cherki? He was going to be a youth signing, which has nothing to do with the manager.

€35m with €6m is is an amazing deal for Cherki, who will be 22 at the start of the season.

Why would we pay double for Mbeumo, who is 4 years older, double the cost and who potentially has a lower ceiling than Cherki?

It's probably because of the past, he used to be immature and selfish but he started at 15 and was hailed as the next french wonderkid, so this reputation has stuck to him a little bit for people who dont follow OL or the french league, but he has matured a lot and hasnt been like that for a couple seasons.

In that case I find it odd we weren't interested at the lower price. But I dont think he fits Amorim's system. Will see how Pep uses him, his record with flair wingers is mixed to say the least.

Haaland was never coming here because Roy Keane ended his dad's career.
Why do people still believe this myth?

Roy Keane did not end his dad's career, he might have tried but in that respect he failed miserably, Haaland's left knee was the injury that finished his career, Kean's tackle was o0n his right thigh

Because there is no proof yet that Cherki will adapt to the high intensity of the PL.
I noticed in our games vs Lyon he got caught on the ball a lot.
Granted he scored, but we were a shambles defensively.
He may do well for them, but we all thought Grealish would too.
