Schmeichel's Cartwheel
Correctly predicted Italy to win Euro 2020
The majority I’ve seen have said fair play
“We are good here thank you, we have our Russian billionaire who took us over when we were the Blue Spurs, bought us our trophies & history, so feck everyone else who isn’t as fortunate as us”Redcafe would be the same (critical) if roles were reversed (with Liverpool fans). It's disingenuous pretending otherwise.
Personally, I understand United fans ire against their club owners but to suggest rival fans from other big six clubs join in to protest changes in management? Well no not for me. We have the best club owner and administration (Bruce Buck and Marina Granovskia) in the world and I wouldn't swap them for any other.
We did our fair share in protesting the I'll adviced ESL move and the club quickly responded by pulling out.
We have our men's first team in the FA Cup final, one foot towards a CL final and the women's first team in a CL final and close to winning the league. We are good here thank you.
Take a look at the official Liverpool FC website. The forum on there discussing the protest is 99% hammering United fans. The odd poster defending us is immediately shouted down. People in glass houses and all that...Plenty of Liverpool (and other oppo fans) are supportive of yesterdays protests.
Of course you can go to somewhere like RAWK and cherry pick some shitty comments but let's be honest, I could select a load of comments from various Man United fans on here and paint a picture on a Chelsea site that you're against the protests.
Think the biggest impact on the club was SAF retiring. The Glazers were just basking in his glory and it has gone downhill since. The fact they are not really interested in football means they don't have a clue how to put it right. If you are honest , the first part of that sentence is true, a lot of United supporters , especially the younger ones., are indeed just jealous of City running away with the title and probably the CL. I said it earlier if United had won rather than lost 3 of the first 4 games of the season, and had 9 more points before the Liverpool match there would have been NO demonstrations at all.
And the hypocrisy about the ESL , with United ignoring the threats of the FA and Football League to enter the European Cup in 1956 is clear.
Its true the Glazers have employed typical debt management to buy United, but this argument is now almost 20 years old, its got hairs on it. Its also true that Woodward and a succession of managers have spent millions on poor transfers and wages. Indeed a good argument could be made United would have been a lot better spending say 10% on refurb of OT over that time, but that would not exactly have gone down well either with some elements of the fans.
The Glazers are far from ideal, neither is the financing structure. But in its history United have had worse owners that didn't stop the Club being successful.
I really think this should get repeated more often. Effective protest requires discipline, and a few morons shouldn't just be excused - they'll be the ones that given the naysayers an avenue to dismiss the whole movement. This is why people protesting need to not act like clowns throwing flares and damaging property. It's way too easy for the narrative to be distorted.
I think the larger message is harder to condemn, but it gets overshadowed by the actions of a small minority.
Christ, these fan channels talk more sense than the majority of pundits and journalist in sport. This is heartening.
They seem to understand it better than some of the United posters on here.Christ, these fan channels talk more sense than the majority of pundits and journalist in sport.
I don't get why fans would go to all that trouble to participate in the protests to then jeopardise the whole thing by lobbing flares, attacking police and destroying property etc. Just imagine how powerful the message would have been if an angry but peaceful protest had succeeded in calling off the biggest club game in English football, particularly to the US audiences who on the whole don't really understand football anyway.I really think this should get repeated more often. Effective protest requires discipline, and a few morons shouldn't just be excused - they'll be the ones that given the naysayers an avenue to dismiss the whole movement.
No we dont sorry to say. For years we've been on the end of extremely negative reporting about ruining the league and sportswashing. We've seen our owners put money into the area, the stadium, the club, and the team but all we've heard is hatred. (I actually think its been more about upsetting the applecart of the PL and european football).Tbf to Chelsea and City fans, if not for their owners they would be midtable and championship teams. So they don't have anything to protest against the owners.
Can't imagine why that is. Billionaire owners come in, spend funds no one else can, make enormous losses, increasing overall costs for the non-billionaire clubs. This forces clubs wanting to compete with clubs like PSG/City to over-stretch themselves, and now are facing genuine existential financial threat. No we dont sorry to say. Insane - I had a look at RAWK and it was the same idiotic vitriol at United fans (as they're the civilized ones, don't you know, they got Gillet and Hicks to go by just writing poetry online) and calling for three points to be awarded to LFC. Phucking small time cretins.I've had a look this morning on forums of rival clubs to see the reaction to yesterday's protest. I hoped that the fans of the other 'Greedy Six' clubs would be behind the protests and support the fight against the leeches that are trying to ruin our game.
The condemnation by other fans (especially Liverpool) is unbelievable. Their faux outrage at the few idiots who went too far yesterday with the throwing of flares and bottles is laughable. Have they coveniently forgotten the 'welcome' they gave to the City and Real Madrid team coaches as they arrived at Anfield.
Liverpool fans lambasting the behaviour of United fans, you couldn't make it up.
edit: moderator removed the uncalled for naughty bit at the end
In short, is the correct answer.Plenty of Liverpool (and other oppo fans) are supportive of yesterdays protests.
Of course you can go to somewhere like RAWK and cherry pick some shitty comments but let's be honest, I could select a load of comments from various Man United fans on here and paint a picture on a Chelsea site that you're against the protests.
I was pleasantly surprised.Christ, these fan channels talk more sense than the majority of pundits and journalist in sport.
Or would we? Football is enjoyable when there's competition. Or how would you like us to play a League 2 level opponent every week and get a meaningless trophy at end of season? We would want them to have terrible owners and ruin their clubs too.
If it were up to me, I'd just give them the 3 points. Their "all conquering best team in the world" obviously need it more than us. Absolutely pathetic.Insane - I had a look at RAWK and it was the same idiotic vitriol at United fans (as they're the civilized ones, don't you know, they got Gillet and Hicks to go by just writing poetry online) and calling for three points to be awarded to LFC. I've not looked at RAWK but I'm struggling to believe that this is your average Liverpool fan's position. I really thought, on average, this is one area we could agree on. I'm hugely disappointed if this is a true representation of their fanbase.Insane - I had a look at RAWK and it was the same idiotic vitriol at United fans (as they're the civilized ones, don't you know, they got Gillet and Hicks to go by just writing poetry online) and calling for three points to be awarded to LFC. just had a look and its 2 pages of Souness - where were the protest when they were winning? Also one said throwing bottles isnt how you conduct yourselfI've not looked at RAWK but I'm struggling to believe that this is your average Liverpool fan's position. They have a clue though. They hired what they perceived to be the best man for the job. Without a hindsight lvg is a good option, so does mourinho considering where we were back then.Think the biggest impact on the club was SAF retiring. The Glazers were just basking in his glory and it has gone downhill since. The fact they are not really interested in football means they don't have a clue how to put it right.
This. There's multiple facets of yesterday protest. You can agree and support the cause and at the same time disagreeing with the vandalism. It turned from a protest into hooliganism when the bottles started flying. Football fans just can't help behaving like scum. I was fine the the protest and agree with it but I hope the club get punished for the violence.
The english game is in a mess? How so? It's never been better than it is now. Your management might be in a “mess” but not the league. And it's that kind of attitude that sees the English game in a mess. I'm alright jack cause of our billionaire owner whilst other clubs go under like Bury.
Nice one.
Well we did get the sugar daddy who's been good to us. Let me see who I'd rather have own my team...Roman ,FSG or the Glazers? Wow that's a tough one!“We are good here thank you, we have our Russian billionaire who took us over when we were the Blue Spurs, bought us our trophies & history, so feck everyone else who isn’t as fortunate as us”
Remember, pre takeover you were level with Newcastle & Leeds, two sides who have collapsed in stature. Could easily have been Chelsea without your sugar daddy.
Nail on hammer right here! It's funny some fans on here pretending this is a league thing all the fans of the “big clubs” should join in protesting United’s poor management. Those same people are the ones who go on tirades pissing on the likes of City, PSG, Chelsea etc owners who are actually investing in their teams and communities...building world class training facilities, infrastructure and academies....just because they have cobbwebs in the closets the Western media don't hesitate to bring to light. But the American leeches are saintly who got their wealth through no neferious activities at all. They are angelic leeches! No we dont sorry to say. For years we've been on the end of extremely negative reporting about ruining the league and sportswashing. All that time we've seen corporate america sucking money out of the game and for us the question is who would you rather have in charge, and for us it is a no brainer sorry to say.
Having said that I have a lot of respect for Utd bringing this to a head, it is the only way things will change, for me the yanks have to go. kowtowing to american markets is completely the wrong way for football to go, they'll bleed it dry and move on to another cash cow.
Jesus. Can anyone be so far out of touch with reality than you. Do you have any idea how many clubs have gone under recently? Or do you only care about yourself and Chelsea? The english game is in a mess? How so? It's never been better than it is now. Your management might be in a “mess” but not the league.
For your "world class academy" youve produced feck all really since Roman came in.Nail on hammer right here! Also it's hard to pinpoint what these United protestors really want. They don't want to be run like a profit oriented business anymore, they also don't want Arab/Asian investment and of course absolutely despise ‘Sugar Daddies’ so unless there is some benevolent entity out there who loves United so much it'll let them spend whatever they want on transfers etc without taking anything out but at the same time not so much as to not qualify as a ‘Sugar daddy’....I don't know what all this is about.
Tbf they have no reason to protest against their owners. Why would they, without their owners, they are maybe close to Newcastle and Sunderland. For us, Glazers are shit for the club taking out shit loads of money, for them club is still in league/not midtable because of their owners.Jesus. Can anyone be so far out of touch with reality than you. Do you have any idea how many clubs have gone under recently? Or do you only care about yourself and Chelsea?
