Television Recommend me a TV Show (more TV reviews now)

4 episodes into The Night Agent season 3. It's an easy watch and definitely an improvement on season 2. They've introduced a few new characters to freshen things up. Isabel's character is great. Huge improvement on Rose, who seemed to lack a purpose in season 2.

Netflix should have canned TNA & kept making more of The Recruit.

Agreed. I couldnt get last the first few episodes of TNA. Felt cheesy AF.
Not seen The Recruit. Night Agent certainly has it's flaws. Twice in the last two episodes, people have left their work desk without locking their laptop, allowing the main character to find what he needs  but I like that it's an easy bingewatch after a long week of work. David Lyon's character has also added some much needed wit to the often dry dialogue.

Just watching The Chi, great programme!

It has the production feel of the Wire. You learn to really like characters only for them to die. It's well written and with strong performances throughout. If you like the Wire, give it a go

Heard of this a while back. We loved the wire so will take a look.

Second season of The Rehearsal is incredible television. When you think about how much went into it, to pull it off, it's kinda mind-blowing. He's a strange fella, Nathan Fielder, but when it hits the right notes, it's absolutely incredible.

The Sully episode, and the final episode, are genius.
He went to one of the best colleges in Canada, and got really good grades, after all (B's and C's)!

This for me is the best thing netflix has done, if i had to pick.

Shame 1899 was cancelled - that was really good too.
Both of those were great. I also liked Archive 81. Not sure if they made or merely bought Black Butterflies, which was amazing, and also The 7 Lives Of Lea, also very good. Bodies, which I think they made and would thematically fit in with these others, was a real slog to get through, and I honestly hated it.

About to rewatch Five Days at Memorial, an amazing miniseries about the only hospital open during the aftermath of Katrina in New Orleans. Highly recommended.

Great series, prompted me to watch a documentary on netflix about Katrina, so tragic and sad for those involved.

Seen Treme? HBO series about New Orleans, shortly after Katrina. I absolutely loved it.

I never watched Treme. Downloaded it after hearing about it on here on release but somehow never got round to watching it. Maybe time to try again.

Dark Winds is back and pretty damn good again.

How to get to Heaven from Belfast is good without hitting the heights of Derry Girls but it isn't meant to be as comedic - worth a watch. 2 episodes to go so lets see if they stick the landing.

It's one of them: is this shite or am i just not getting it (for me anyway).

Edit, never mind I thought you and the others meant Carnivàle. Aired twenty odd years ago on HBO. Found myself watching all of it and not sure if i even liked it but also disappointed that it was canceled or whatever.

On Heaven from Belfast, that's on my next list.

Under Salt Marsh is what I'm going to watch first. Some kind of murder mystery set in Wales I think.

I gave up on both after 2 episodes each

Fantastic. The quantity of shows now is immense -- the quality is not there though. People will disagree but I just think there's a lot of shite and then your few standouts.

Anyone watch Berlin Station before?
I love me some spy shows and it seems interesting.
Yes.
Liked it better than most 'spy' shows. Although it gets a bit worse season after season it's still quite watchable.
It's not a James Bond wannabe, it's closer in spirit to The Agency but with a few more action sequences.

Still only a few episodes into The Leftovers. I don't know what their deal is yet but the people wearing white really, really, really fecking annoy me.

And why do they all smoke? By season 2, I stopped caring and gave up on the show.
From google search.

Here is the breakdown of why they adopted these behaviors:

Why They Wear White
  • Separation from the "Old World": The G.R. believes that the world ended on October 14, 2011 (the day of the departure). White clothing separates them from the "old" life and symbolizes that they no longer participate in society.
  • Uniformity and Anonymity: The white clothes signify that they have given up their individual identities to become part of a collective, dedicated to a single, shared purpose.
  • "We Watch So They Remember": Their presence in white is intended to be an unnerving, constant visual reminder to those still trying to "move on" that their loved ones are gone and not coming back.

Why They Started Smoking
  • "We Smoke to Proclaim Our Faith": The G.R. smokes not for enjoyment, but as a proclamation of their faith in the new, broken world.
  • Defiance of Health/Future: Because they believe the world already ended, they do not care about the long-term health effects of smoking. It signifies that they have no future and no fear of death.
  • "Stop Wasting Your Breath": The smoke is a literal representation of their slogan. They believe talking is useless; smoking is an act of consuming their remaining time, refusing to waste breath on trivial communication, and instead acting as a "living reminder".
  • Self-Destruction and Grief: Smoking serves as a physical manifestation of their inner, unbearable grief and nihilism.

The Vow of Silence
In addition to wearing white and smoking, members take a vow of silence. They believe that language is a relic of the "Old World" and that speech is a "waste of breath," preferring to use written notes to communicate, which emphasizes their dedication to action rather than dialogue.

The Guilty Remnant is essentially a group of people who cannot cope with the randomness of the tragedy and have chosen to live in a perpetual state of mourning, forcing others to share in that misery.

A lot of people find season one a hard watch cause it’s so grim. It’s well worth sticking with. Season two takes quite a different tone.

Just to state. Each is grand.

Heaven from Belfast.

Problem with that is it's not worth 8 episodes. 6 would have been better.

On the Welsh drama, seemed decent enough all round.

Neither is spectacular but given the dross you have to navigate through each is watchable.
