Cape Fear (Apple)
A show version of a remake of a movie of a novel adaptation. My favorites in Javier Bardem and Amy Adams replace de Niro and Jessica Lange, respectively, but there is no one that can replace Nick Nolte. Could've done without the explicitness at the start but it has promise.
If they can make Silo fun again Apple will be on a heater.
Another show screwed up by fecking supernatural bullshit...
I watched the 1991 Scorcese film again the other night with De Niro, Nolte and Lange followed by the original from 1962 with Mitchum and Peck. Both good films, the 1991 version pays homage to the original as Mitchum and Peck play supporting roles.
Not too sure if the TV remake will stretch the storyline into ten episodes but from the first three episodes I'm loving Bardem ham it up as Max Cady, oh and Juliette Lewis turns up in the TV show paying homage to her character as the daghter in the 1991 movie.
Just a stupid, unnecessary plot line. The main character is an alien, so is it really that far-fetched?
I've not actually seen it so i've got no skin in the game, I accidentally majorly spoiled myself when googling it....Just a stupid, unnecessary plot line.
The former for me.I've not actually seen it so i've got no skin in the game, I accidentally majorly spoiled myself when googling it....
Was the alien reveal completely out of leftfield or had there been hints?
But not jarring enough to put you off continuing? Tbf, the original synopsis for the first season was 'genre-bending noir', so I assume they are going to focus on a different genre in each season? Maybe season 2 is just leaning further into sci-fi after the big reveal...The former for me.
It was out of left field. I guess we will see in S2 if it works.Just a stupid, unnecessary plot line.
Very good program although I thought the final season was weaker than the rest. Well worth a watch. No actually but I see Matthew Rhys is in it and I’m a fan of his work
Ever seen The Americans?
Don't remember that scene, but the show as a whole is excellent & worth continuing.I was enjoying that until E10 of S1 when it got really stupid and all cold war espionage logic flew out the window in favour of some melodramatic incoherent nonsense.
The whole season had been about not letting emotions rule your decisions because they're spies and its life or death. Then they just let Gregory wander off in the hope that he gets killed by cop and doesn't give up the whole operation and put their kids into care. Literally the stupidest plot decision I've seen in quite a while and what was the pay off? A slow motion death scene of this bit-part played-out love interest?
The Elizabeth of the previous 9 episodes would have shot him herself without a second thought.
I'm not sure I want to continue watching if the writers are going to indulge in this kind of shit.

It's excellent and only gets better.Well if you don't remember it then I'll probably forget about it too and hopefully that means they don't indulge in anymore of that.
For me it was a serious misstep and from a writing and character development point of view was totally inconsistent with what went before.
Watched the first season so lets see how they go with the second. Great cast in this.New season of The Agency starts tomorrow.
Good start to S2.Watched the first season so lets see how they go with the second. Great cast in this.
Christ almighty, what a great show...
Take a pass then. You'll be the one missing out.maybe it is but that trailer does nothing for me. It makes it look like a very small town america-centric drama and football does nothing for me. High school kids playing sports shouldn't be taken so seriously as far in concerned.

Binged the lot in two days. Season 2 is as good as season 1, in my opinion. Fassbender is fantastic, and the supporting cast is also top notch, as you said.Watched the first season so lets see how they go with the second. Great cast in this.
Talking about the Agency? (Too lazy to scroll up)Binged the lot in two days. Season 2 is as good as season 1, in my opinion. Fassbender is fantastic, and the supporting cast is also top notch, as you said.
Yup.Talking about the Agency? (Too lazy to scroll up)
Ah yes, great show. Have to start S2 soon. Good to read it's good again.Yup.

It is that, but it's done exceptionally well. There are also moments in it that critique the way high school football is taken so seriously in towns like this. But to be fair, it IS a very big deal to some people. Getting a scholarship to a college is absolutely life changing for some high schoolers and their families
I have no interest in American football either but the show makes it seem exciting and interesting somehow
Although Australian getting a sporting scholarship to a quality US Uni was life changing for my son in all aspects of life, sporting, social and academic. A different, non-money sport but still very important for him.Getting a scholarship to a college is absolutely life changing for some high schoolers and their families
In Texas they have high schools with 15K to 20K seat stadiums.Ok fair enough. I only became aware that college football was massive relatively recently. I didn't realise that it was also such a big deal in high school.
