It's sad to see how far Ricky Gervais has fallen. It makes it even worse that he sits on social media all day blocking anyone who has anything negative to say about his shows.
Its been a very slow decline for me. I was done with him when I saw Politics and that's over 20 years.
His post on social media defending the new show from people he claimed were 'offended' was tone deaf and made him look an awful gobshite.

The Ricky Gervais Show and An Idiot Abroad were great. Derek was shite, Afterlife was average. I've watched his Netflix stand-ups and didn't think they were as bad as others have said, but definitely nothing more than background noise whilst I'm cooking or doomscrolling. He does have a habit of repeating the same tropes in all of his work.

Alice in Boderland was decent, only got through the 1st season so need to go back and finish it but I enjoyed what I saw of it. Kind of similar to Squid Game too.
Dark and Money Heist are both excellent. Much better than Squid Game imo, definitely better than Squid Game after the first season.
Dog Man, new Taiwanese drama series is quite good. About a young band whose front man who time travels to see his future self after his marriage fell apart. Taiwan has some really good dramas.
Finished Banshee recently, decent show but a bit ridiculous at times.
Started the last of us and the Ellie character isn’t half as bad/annoying as I’ve read in all the reviews.
Deutschland 83/86/89 is one of my favourite shows. Might have to give it a rewatch.
Also rewatching Letterkenny, which is just top tier comedy.
Finished Banshee recently, decent show but a bit ridiculous at times.
Started the last of us and the Ellie character isn’t half as bad/annoying as I’ve read in all the reviews.

I've only seen season 1 but Ellie was really good. Haven't seen season 2 but a lot of the hate is simply because the actor doesn't look like the Ellie from the video game and they are non binary which pisses off the gamers for some reason

Just finished watching 2 seasons of A man on the inside (Netflix).

It's a gentle comedy rather than laugh out loud. The first season had It's harder moments as it dealt with dementia, the second season is more frothy and lighter.
It won't change your world but it's a diverting 30 minutes per episode if you feel like a change from the world sliding into AI / Trump apocalypse.

Sat through it this evening as we are short on things to watch at the moment. It was terrible; the odd laugh but for the most part just regurgitated themes from After Life (so says my wife) and the odious character from Derek.
there is literally nothing to be offended by in alley cats anyway? Like I know it’s his schtick to just pull the ‘u offended’ card now but if anything it’s just overly sentimental, faux intelligent, depressing and just a bit cringe rather than offensive. It’s shit but it’s at least better than afterlife which was all those things ramped up even more.
Final proof that Cleese’s mind has completley gone. What a shame.

Isn't that just celebrity twitter in a nutshell? It would be a bit weird if tv directors wasted hours a day getting in disputes online with people who criticised their work.
No idea but he’s been doing it for years. There’s no reason to retweet praise. You can reply to it and say thanks but retweeting just stinks of ego or trying to project that your stuff is better than it is.
He’s just doing his bit for marketing/publicity of the show.
What's Gomorrah like?
Michael Schur of Office/Parks/Good Place/B99 fame has a new show out in November with Amy Poehler and Hugh Laurie called Dig. Hopefully it’s good.
Mose Schrute producing, writing and directing shows is a fascinating thing to imagine.
It’s great. Watch it with subtitles not the English dubbed version.

Are all seasons of Oz (1997) good or does the show get worse in the latter seasons?
I would say it does get worse but in more of a jumping the shark way. There’s a storyline that’s really dumb but once that’s done it’s decent again I think.
Incredible, you'll find yourself wanting a stupid Neapolitan gangster haircut by the end.
You should watch Gomorrah first, but then there's a decent spin off film called L'Immortale about (probably) the best character in the series...and a new 'Origins' series out this year that is set back in the 70's.
Suburra is another similar Italian series that focuses on the mafia in Rome.
Alley Cats is probably the best thing on TV!

Has anyone else watched the Argentinian show El Marginal? Its set in a notorious prison and the characters are amazing, its brutally violent, great drama and vrry funny in parts. It ran for 5 seasons up to 2022. Give it a go, its really good.
I got round to watching the first series of Ludwig, with the second series starting this month. I really enjoyed it, but I thought the premise - quirky genius helps the police solve murder-of-the-week mysteries while investigating the disappearance of a family member - is extremely similar to High Potential, although the tone of the show is much closer to cosy crime series like Only Murders in the Building or Jonathan Creek.
The best parts of the show are David Mitchell’s character interacting with his sister in law and nephew and his fellow detectives. I thought the actual murder mysteries weren’t nearly as clever as they’re supposed to be. They’re aiming for Jonathan Creek-style locked room mysteries but the solution is often quite dumb, I thought, and the show usually just tells us David Mitchell is a genius rather than showing us he is.
I still thought it was really entertaining though, and look forward to the new series.

I just finished S2. It was fine until the finale. Which was a tad odd.

Matroesjka's is in Flemish/English. It's almost 20 years old but it was fantastic when it came out. Don't know if the typical humour has aged well.
