The top 2 were nailed on but I'm surprised CR7 got third - he never made a big enough overall impact on the side for me to be top 3.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.

I wonder if the intervening period might have made a difference to the standings. Certainly, Messi's World Cup might have brought him closer to Pele points-wise. Ronaldo's recent behaviour will have done him no favours if this is ever revisited, and unfair as it may be holding his declining years against him, you could argue that they've only amplified flaws in his overall game and attitude that were already there to some degree.

I think you're right on both counts. Messi would be closer to Pele and CR7 would be lower. I do think that is unfair on CR7's actual performances - I don't rate his peak as high as some do but his later antics and his decline shouldn't detract from his peak.

Absolutely. Messi would be more or less equal with Pelé, Cristiano would probably drop down below Cruyff (probably not lower but I wouldn’t be too surprised!) and Mbappé would rise up into the 20’s.

Think all of this is spot on.

He's a weird case, as in many ways he's been totally imperious and abnormally productive, but at the same time I felt there was some kind of trade off involved. I never really liked the balance between individual and team focus in his game, despite admiring the brilliant stuff he could do.

The rankings might be changed in some orders for sure, and yes CR7 points will be dropped a bit( or even a lot, who knows) if we vote on this again. Anyway, he deserves at the top5 for sure.
