@ubergorp

I've been wondering something similar to smallcaine and lo and behold.

Is there any criteria for being stripped of ITK status? 'This person's good info was around 30% for a while but man he or she hasn't been above 10% correct in ages....' Do you guys have an internal system in place by which an ITK can be relegated to KFC status, for example.
There's no explicitly defined internal system for this, more of a play it by ear sort of thing, mainly due to the fact there's no concrete metric to measure against, e.g. something could be true but not reported, or something could be only partially true, or something could be false but coincidentally shit rags conjure up the same rumour.

Worth mentioning, we try to hold on to newcomers' info until they get a few things right as an extra layer of verification, so in theory we should never have to resort to that option.

We have stopped posting certain sources' bits of info previously, though, due to the exact reasons that @SmallCaine mentioned. This was when we were settling in and figuring stuff out still, and we haven't had to do it since, mainly due to the fact that its much quieter for us when the window's closed. This is only our second summer window, and we're still always learning and trying to improve things!

I did respond to @SmallCaine's comment in an edit here, if you're interested.

Also, I'd just like to say thanks for being nice. I enjoy answering questions about this sort of thing without feeling the need to get my heckles raised and go on the defensive.

Hmm, BILD reports lower initial upfront fee rising to 120 million euros over a few years. Media cycle heats up at the beginning of August. Not that the muppetiers have been saying this for more than a month...

So the muppetiers are capable of noticing patterns? Cool. What’s next? Algebra? Foreign languages?

Thanks for the candid reply. I can imagine what kind of hoops you guys have to jump through.

Sometime after Sancho is completed, would it be possible to have the ITKs explain their ultra-confidence in the deal being done per the July 27th post? Obviously not asking for an explanation in enough detail to expose them (i.e. 'On the 21st, Dortmund filed a certain preliminary legal document that only happens when the selling club absolutely intends to sell')

Sancho is a go according to ITK 1. I think they got pounds to Euro mixed up but this transfer has first Muppetiers seal.

Still awaiting Romano's Here We Go before the excitement can reach fever pitch. Once we have that then the muppet focus will turn to a CB and back up AM whilst the other tier 1's deliver the Sancho confirmation.

At least they can read well and intepret meaning out of sentences, so its levels above you mate.

 I assume being foreign they don't understand this is just how our media works. It's a cycle of clickbaiting nothing deeper.

Anyways, what new updates can you bring us from the Muppetiers? I assume they'll have something juicy.

That's called stating the obvious. It is rare that the whole transfer fee is paid in one go for a huge signing unless a release clause is being activated a la Neymar, or the selling club digs their heels in like we did with Ronaldo. From the off, Dortmund said they would be happy as long as they'd get the full 120 million eventually and that any deal would be done before August 10th.

“Media cycle”. It was obvious we were going to wait until the end of the season to work on transfers. Dortmund have been saying for a while now they want it done by August 10th. If that’s the barrier for being ITK, I could be one.

XiSimon seems to be the most trustworthy of the "ITKs". The info from the rest should be processed with a truckload of salt. Not to say that some of the "info" is entertaining.

No they didn't say that. It wasn't stated until recently in the media that installments would be ok.

Yes, we'll certainly try to do a post-transfer writeup of everything, and maybe reveal a few things we've been asked not to aswell.

Looks like one of them is saying 78m pounds for Sancho has gone past his/her desk. 35m earmarked for later.

Cool. Cheers.
Something like that. Reminder that part of that 78m could be for agent fee/signing bonus too. It's a good example of why it's so difficult to tell exactly how accurate they are.

Nearly all transfers are done in instalments. It’s not an inside scoop to say that.
Hindsight is 20/20. They have been consistent on this point for more than a month when according to the media, talks hadn't even started between the two clubs yet. 120 million euro transfers don't just occur in one week like how the media would portray it (went from just started talks to already having installments detailed in a span of a week? that stuff takes time). I saw plenty of posts on here at the time worrying that we wouldn't have the funds to go for Sancho or he might go to Chelsea or some other club.

Some of the info is spookily correct. Not bad, better than most journos then I guess.

Also Maguire's transfer did not happen in installments, United had to pay the entire transfer fee up front. It could have been entirely plausible for Dortmund to say, "we don't want to lose Sancho, therefore we are going to make it harder for you and demand the entire fee up front".

The media has also touted other clubs being potentially interested in Sancho too. You aren't adding anything informative to this conversation mate.

Even though I don't take the reddit ITKs too seriously, their info over the last month have been quite accurate.

They've been ahead of the curve the entire way; saying that Inter were looking to loan-with-option-to-buy/purchase outright about a week before it broke in the mainstream journo twittersphere.
Yeah I've been keeping tabs on them. Like what they are offering.

No more plausible than Dortmund asking for £250m. Payment up front is incredibly unusual, and Dortmund would know that we simply don't have the money in the bank to entertain such a thing.

But if we were to go off the media, weren't Dortmund saying a month ago that they fully expected Sancho to remain a Dortmund player? They also have went out the way to say that they don't need the extra funds and that they will be fine regardless of Covid. So why wouldn't it be plausible for Dortmund to demand the entire transfer fee up front if this were the case? Unless the media was being played by both sides to get the negotiations over the line.

I don't know what kind of system they use for verification but pretty surprised tbf.

It could still be blind luck/guessing given the small sample space but good going so far.

Sanchez to Inter is permanent after all. Sorry for getting that one wrong then it seems. Was told Inter wanted to wait to pay the fee a year for FFP sake, seems they've changed mind to exploit the FFP changes instead.

ITK 4 admitting he was wrong on details regarding the Sanchez transfer. No backtracking or deleting of info. ITK 3 gets +1 for credibility.

'They' did, hey? Do you also coalesce all the posts of supposed ITKs in the same manner?

Correct. Dortmund said that. Quite literally, Hans-Joachim Watzke said that, outlets just reported on it. In fact, from what I remember, most still believed Sancho would move on. Example. This isn't the first time Dortmund have done that. They're known for it. You take everything the higher ups say with a pince of salt.

The same reason why they didn't demand £250m. You can apply the exact same logic to that. So why didn't they demand £250m?

Don't conflate reporting on what someone has said, to offering insight into what is happening behind closed doors.

The bolded makes literally zero sense, in fact the whole point of bringing these reports up is to say that the media will always be behind the curve as clubs will always want to manage expectations/put out propaganda. You can't have it both ways, where you cite the media to discredit the ITKs but then say that what is put out by journalists can also be deception.

EDIT: When I said "they" I was referring to Dortmund, not the media.
