Bissouma not even a yellow card but Rolando got a yellow for a tame mis-timed tackle...

The quality of reffing and VAR in this country has gone past the point of mediocre.

Poor refereeing yes, but VAR doesn’t stop for yellow card events.

They didn’t say it did. It’s a refereeing thread as much as VAR and their post covered both.

Looked like the BHA player chested it and his arm/wrist redirected in, should have been ruled against.

Is there a rule/judgment on if a clearance from short distance strikes a player in the chest which then caroms off the arm it's not intentional?

Don't think there was a single angle we saw that showed it clearly touched his arm.

Ronaldo booking was really obviously just the referee wanting it for his trophy collection.

Penalty and second yellow / Red card yesterday were both very soft to ridiculous decisions. Referee obviously had a hard on for Spurs?

The penalty is a coming together. Don't see any movement towards Son for the red card, what's he meant to do, dive out of the way?

Now let's compare to the Villa Liverpool game which had zero yellow cards at all in it...?

This makes no fecking sense. Clattenburg essentially admitting to not following the law and going with whatever decision he feels like. No wonder there’s so many inconsistencies with decisions. Also thank feck that cnuts no longer officiating in the PL.

Not even the first time. He said he should have sent 2-3 Spurs players off in a match against Chelsea while Spurs were competing for the league during the Leicester season but didn't because "it would make headlines". Basically confirming that a Liverpool or City player would need to use a chainsaw to get sent off currently.

Second yellow definitely wasn't soft - Holding just ran towards Son and blocked him off, it's a definite yellow.

The penalty is soft in the sense that it happens all the time (like holding at a corner) and often isn't givin - but i think it is a foul (Cedric again made a movement towards Son), think Neville said it on comms but he totally timed it wrong, and made the challenge on Son when he was in mid-air, instead of just before he jumped.

It’s an absolute disgrace. The officiating in the country needs looked at from top to bottom, it’s clearly not up to standard. Same shite every week and there never seems to be any consequences for it.

Son should've been off for his elbow. VAR should definitely be looking at things like that.
Hes a good player but he's a little shitbag.
Every team should make a point of slamming him at least once every game.

If Holding milks Son's attempted elbow, it's a red card 100%. The alternate angle on the penalty shows that Cedric doesn't even touch Son before he has already lost his balance and on the way down.
Holding's red is the easiest decision of the season, brainless attempt to be hard in the most important game after barely 30mn. It's a shame because he helped a lot getting us results throughout the season. He single handedly made sure we would not get anything out of the game.

Just watched it again several times, Son just runs in to him as he isn't looking where he's going, rather at the ball, that isn't a foul, he doesn't have to get out of the way. He doesn't move in to him, it's the other way around.

Running in to a defender because you're not looking in front of you is a yellow now?

How did Liverpool not get a single yellow in 210 minutes across the last two games ?

I wouldn't take anything serious from that man. One of worst referees and that don't say little with the standard of them all.

The fact that it took VAR to award a penalty to city shows how incompetent referees are or how they ignore the laws of the game for game management reasons or whatever it is. I’m thinking that the reason Taylor didn’t give it right away is because he didn’t want to be the one to potentially decide the title race (which he wouldn’t be anyway, it’d be the player making the idiotic tackle who’s done that) with a late penalty for City.

Chelsea should have sued the fecker to be honest. He endangered highly valued assets plus the FA actually fined Chelsea for failing to control their players. Cnut of the highest order this guy.

Not a foul according to the best referees in the world. Just a coming together of the arm and the shirt. Totally legal.

What makes the shirt pull worse is that Holgate was penalised for shirt pulling a couple of minutes earlier. It’s beyond poor refereeing.

It has to be a "special foul" for it to be a penalty.

That's why you'll never have these clowns mic'ed up. We'll all see what actual spoofers they are.

Not that I'm complaining in any way shape or form (I'm really not) but the injury time at the Etihad yesterday was an absolute joke  .

4 minutes, ball was probably in play for about 30 seconds... blows up pretty much bang on time! Again, very happy he did, but yeh - ridiculous.

Anyway - season over, Refs are still shite, VAR is still really shite, offsides have at least become better this year, More of the same next year I guess?

If semi-automated offsides works at the WC, they will probably be in the PL the season after.
For next season they need to reform/reword again the handball rule and radically revamp the way the ref goes to the monitor. No more waiting 2min standing looking at the sky before being told "yeah we have no clue, come have a look". If it's anything related to a pen/red card, he should just go straight away and have a look.

VAR very average refs. And that's why it's been brought in, and this season the worst has been C. Pawson .
