I cannot wait for this and that big terrifying bastard!

I was kinda hoping for resident evil 8 coming first though.

I played the shit out of this back on the PS1. Probably more than RE2 even. If it's anywhere near as good as REmake 2, I'm in. I hope it's like in the original game where you could take out Nemesis and be rid of him for a while.

Do we know anything about 8 yet? I enjoyed 7 bar the last segment of the game.

The re2 remake was amazing. I'm a wimp when it comes to scary things but kinda love em at the same time

Not much info other than they want to make it or are making it.

I loved 7, but you’re right about the last section. I remember getting to the final battle. I made a coffee and got ready for a long fight. One shot and it was over. Brilliant.

STAAAAARS.

Mr. X was bad enough, this prick chasing you around will be something else.
I don't know if they can use the same mechanics and still give him his rocket launch. Don't know if they can keep the ability to take him out for a while either or if he will be a bit of a Mr X reskin.

The master of unlocking is back.

They're all a bit daft tbf. Great game though.
Oh yeah, game was amazing, but the whole story was just plain daft.

Nothing quite as good as killing a tree either, which was ahead of its time (I assume that this was an allegory to warn us against losing sight of humanities purpose to create zombie dogs instead of us wasting time trying to prevent global warming and save fecking dolphins. Bunch of rubber skinned cnuts).

Fun fact, Resident Evil 4 was started and remade a few times and was more of an accident how great it was than planned.

All the cut bits and ideas were what became the first Evil Within game.

Also I've bought it every single time it was released, bar the switch. GCN, PS2, wii, PC and PS4 HD. Like a mug.

I thought it became Devil May Cry?

One of the scrapped version's engine turned into it, at least that was said at the time, but I'm talking about the resi style ideas and bits and pieces he wanted to cram in.

Like the opening part of EW was literally ripped from a scrapped part of RE4.
Ah my bad!

Yeah I really wanted to like it, from what I remember I really struggled to get to grip with the controls, and the shooting mechanics were terrible.

Apparently they made a fair few improvements with TEW2 so may go back to them at some point.

I've replayed all the old resident evil games lately from 1-4 (and code x) and I don't know whether it was just fatigue but RE4 was the only one I didn't finish. I just wasn't feeling it. Still had some great moments up to the point i played.

I liked the analogy that RE4 is to resident evil what Aliens is to Alien. The shift from horror to action shouldn't work in theory, but it does surprisingly well.

I have a love/hate thing with RE4, love it as a game, hate it as it's success spawned horrible sequels after that.

RE4 was a nice one off thing, but classic RE is where it's at.

I'm in the minority that didn't love RE4. It was decent, but not what I wanted from an RE game.

I vaguely remember previews before it came out showing pictures of Leon in what I think was a mansion with a torch facing wraith like enemies.

It's my favourite, with 7 on VR pushing it close.

However, it's not the same as the originals, so it's very fair for people to rate any of them higher. It's nearly like how I see Skyrim. Almost an entirely different genre and decent in it's own right but nowhere near, not even close, to Morrowind levels as an RPG. That doesn't diminish it as a game, just different at heart to the already great series (though not as drastic as RE4 and even worse the seriously inferior 5/6 games).

5 was great fun if you had a friend to play through it with.

It was ok co-op. A big let down on 4 though.

No point going into 6. I mean I know what they were thinking, cash, but boy...what were they thinking?
6 was just a clusterfeck, they didn't know what to do. I thought the mercenaries on that game was great fun though, again if you had a friend to play with. Sort of glad 6 happened though as it forced them to reset the series with 7, which was a largely a very good game, and hopefully lays the foundations for the next few iterations.

Also maybe I'm being dumb but 4 wasn't a co-op game was it? 5 you had two players (FECK SHEVA) the entire game?

You can see the beginnings of what 5 and 6 became as far back as 0 but Jesus Christ did they shit the bed. I'd actually like them to go back and remove 5 unwards from canon. Leave 4, 7 and Code Veronica as side adventures and pick up after 3 with Jill, Claire, Billy, Rebecca or Barry. No more Chris or Leon for a while.

It was great. Rescue the President's daughter from a Spanish royalty midget who wants to create a country of zombies (if I remember it right).
Pretty much yeah. It’s in games pass. I’ve been playing through it again recently
