Gaming Resident Evil 9: Requiem

Chatgpt doesn't have human eyes nor reactions...jokes aside mate, try it just on or even off. You should do that in every game BTW, it's not a one size fits all solution.

Assuming you use the same lead for all games and haven't had this before, chances are it's the engine and most likely the DLSS/FSR settings more than anything. I'm out tonight, but if you have no luck remind me tomorrow and I'll plug mine in and try to duplicate it and fix for you.

Edit: I've just clicked you said tv too, check if it has a gaming response time setting, and if so change that around too. Even on my 165hz monitor I've had to mess with response times for the recent RE games.
This helped me. Needed to speed up camera acceleration

Makes sense. He says it's not a complete fix though, so try the things I suggested too if it feels off still.

Because even on mouse, it was weirdly floaty for me until I messed with reflex and dlss. Like I say, with reflex paticularly, that should be on a game by game basis.ì

BTW if you can, run path tracing. Still not perfect implementation, but it really elevates the game (and helps with the usual shadowing/lighting issues the engine has).

Finished it. A very good 8 out of 10 that was so near to being a classic but hit some wrong notes.

what on earth was the point of bringing back a Wesker clone? Also, Nemesis, really? No one liked that boss battle in 3 and I pray to god that when I play this on insanity that fight isn’t as hard as I fear it will be. I need to see the other ending but the hope ending was kinda bullshit in a lot of ways.

Still, it’s only RE. Just enjoy the ride. The Grace sections were far more interesting than Leon’s, though those were good too.

I've finished RE: 9 and I loved it. Might fire up a review.

Main takeaways are-

I loved the blend between the Clare and Leon's levels. They both work in their own way. The whole game hinged on this and they pulled it off.

This game is a real stunner.

The bosses are crap.

I'm watching a Let's Play.

Why the feck would an FBI analyst take a gun on scene but not have any bullets?

Edit: Oh she actually did, my bad. :D

I'm finding her sections so difficult due to lack of weapons and her useless melee attack. It's giving me proper anxiety. I'm just there begging for it to go back to Leon

You have to remember she's an analyst who mainly works with computers. She's meant to be shit in all aspects of killing zombies. Make sure you can get crafting stuff as soon as possible, and gathering scrap. Makes her sections so much easier.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I understand why it's like that. I'm just admitting that I'm a giant pussy

This is why I think her sections are better-there is a real survival element to it.

Definitely, fully agreed. Then it's so satisfying to deal with the bigger cnuts stalking Grace when playing as Leon.

Ive liked it a lot so far. It's been longer than i expected. Sure im pretty much near the end. Gorgeous graphics but certainly the jack of trades and master of none. I've enjoyed more than village and re4 remake though.

I am so used to auto save and I died after a couple of hours progression and lost everything :(

9 bullets, I'd be lucky to hit with 1 of those 9. :D
Oh...don't I know it!

And even on the one you hit, Hobs would soon be along to steal anything the body dropped

That initial sequence before she goes into the starting building was very impressive graphically. The alleyway in particular looked incredibly photorealistic.
It's decent. Still behind the likes of AW2 and Cyberpunk overall, but they kind of are learning about the benefits of Path Tracing. The standard Raytracing needs more work though. It's passable on console in controlled environments, but you run it at full native resolution and the flaws are very obvious.

The whole industry seems to have stalled when it comes to lighting/shadowing though. Arc Raiders, for example, is an absolute nightmare for lighting transitions between scenes but it's not the only one.

Yeah after that it does go downhill a bit with its visuals (not massively but just the environments). I still maintain it has a washed out look at times thats hard to get right in the settings for the base PS5.

Starting a new game + tonight and I’m going to play with the cameras reversed -Third person Grace, first person Leon.

Not ready for insanity mode yet.

No you are right about the look, it isn't quite right on anything other than Max PC and even then the colouring is weird at times. The textures and lighting are always weird with their engine.

I've still not got far, but I'm definitely thinking this needs a much more difficult mode. I see MissMikkaa is playing that mode right now (she has been doing all the RE remakes/modern ones of late on the most difficult levels) it'll be interesting how it stacks up, because most of the others haven't been that bad overall but can get very tricky in places.

Leon is so much fun to play. Grace sections are great though and filled with so much tension/suspense.

That girl monster thing can feck off.

Completed it. Great game overall. Think it tails a bit towards the end but RE games usually do.

Took me a little over 8 hours but I’ll have a few more playthroughs to get the platinum.

Agreed with the poster who said the boss battles weren’t great, but again never really been a strong point of RE.

Is it better than Res Evil 2 on the original PlayStation?

Almost done with the game I think.

I'm current 15 mins into the orphanage chapter

Very impressive Switch 2 port and fun game overall. I can understand it sitting at close to 90 metacritic. It does drag in the second half of it a bit, preferred the early sections where it was heavier tilted towards Grace, whose parts are much more tense and interesting, but the balance between horror/action has been pretty good overall. It's much less of a horror than 7 was, but also much less action oriented than Village or the old RE games.

I assumed I was getting through it considering how long I'd spent compared to those who have already completed it, but looking at a walk through, I'm only a third of the way in!

Really enjoying it. I really take my time and am overly cautious playing these games. I could probably pick up the pace. After a couple of hours of creeping around as Grace, it's lovely to pick up a shotgun with Leon and pop some skulls.

Yeah I'm super slow too. I'm still trying to find the third quartz. Although it didn't help that I wasted my first requiem bullet on a wall whilst testing the gun and then the second bullet on a jobber zombie... Then I realised how rare the bullets are.

So I managed to clear the first bit with Grace and took on all the big baddies in the care centre before dropping down after the blind girl.

Subsequently playing with Leon… had naff all to do just admire my handiwork.

I’ve really tried to avoid spoilers and had I known, I’d have left and snuck around a lot more so I could have some fun!

My friend leant it to me on the ps5, it’s great. Love the mix of different RE games. Just a really fun time. What games should be.
