Lamps, Jose and now Klopp. Only a matter of time before Pep does the same.

Surely this is unfairly pressurising refs not to award us pens? With VAR I’m not sure what they’re yapping about. Not to mention Jose and Klopp have players with world class reputations for taking and winning penalties respectively.

I can’t help but feel they’re rattled.

Drink it all up. There was a reason they weren't complaining until now.

Also Leicester have double pretty much every other team in the league. Must be a conspiracy

Lampard was only one with good reason really.

I thought Liverpool had loads of penalties a season or two back.

Klopp won a CL on the back of the most ridiculous pen Ive seen. Mane and Salah constantly dive. He just sounds silly with his rant.

To be fair, I'd be fuming if I was an opposition fan/manager. We have had an abnormal amount.

But it doesn't mean that we haven't won most of them fairly. Our players have very quick feet and defenders find it hard to bring them down without fouling them. In any case, it'll level out eventually, just one of those things.

We may or may not win the title but the fume we have caused over the past few days takes me back to fergie days. Man I am loving every bit of it.

What's the top 5 of English teams with most pens in all competitions?

When? Leicester have had more this year and we’ve only had about ten more than Liverpool since klopp got there

The amount of penalties we get under VAR, makes me wonder if we haven't been short changed fur years.

Yes, that is the idea. The media will pick it up and shout about it, as if that is the truth.

VAR is not perfect. If a ref does not give a penalty, there should be an overwhelming foul to get it overturned. Refs who have made up their minds not to give United a penalty, can still ruin the game. Also VAR completely ignores many aspects. VAR rules are designed in a way, so as not to undermine the "elite" ref's shortcomings.

The only good thing in your favour now is that VAR is a thing so if the refs do feel pressurised to not give a pen then it sometimes won't matter. It is the first time in a while that people have ganged up on you though. Fear that the aura of United wasn't just about Fergie after all perhaps and that you're actually a lot better than the media and fans give you credit for.

Put it this way they wouldn't be talking about it if we weren't starting to worry them.. Jose has had a few nibbles and now despite saying it's too early to think about playing United, Klopp has started.

Fergie used to love all this let's not forget. Anyway enjoy it. We are very relevant again and those around us can see it. We might not win the league and looking at the age and experience of our squad and coaches we are a huge underdog but we are still there plugging away and building slowly..

They know it too.

Is the list I'm looking at bad, or are the stats for pens awarded this season currently:

Leicester - 10
United - 6
Liverpool - 5

What the feck are they moaning about us for?

The first hint that Utd have got their act together and it's sending people crazy.

The PTSD from Fergie dominating English football for 20 years must be crippling.

No doubt Fergie will have a chat about the mind games, I can imagine Ole talking to him about it and probably having a laugh already about klopp

That's correct I think, just had a quick look myself. Why do Leicester have so many pens is the big question here.

your list is correct. I don't get it either ... Brighton is sitting at 6 as well, but for some reason, they all have a go at us

I don't see Ole getting involved in it at all. He'll just focus on the bubble of United. No doubt Sir Alex will mention it though over a glass of red.

Jamie Vardy has taken 7 pens already this season. But anyway, did you know that Bruno Fernandes is a penalty merchant?

We did but what Utd have had in the last 15 months or so is unprecedented. Unbelievable, really. Peak 1970 Brazil playing in the PL now would get less penalties I'm sure you'd agree.

Managers are just asking why this unprecedented behaviour now? It's not just cos Man Utd dribble in the penalty area more, or better, that's blatantly not true over say Salah/Mane or Sterling/KdB/Mahrez.

As others have pointed out Leicester have had more pens than us in 2020 and indeed this season

Didn't we go an entire season under Moyes/Van Gaal where we didn't get one?
we never got none, but we certainly didn't get a lot during those years ... or during Mourinhos years for that matter.

2013-14 - 5
2014-15 - 5
2015-16 - 3
2016-17 - 4
2017-18 - 3

Where’s the stats to back up that shit post about how we are in unprecedented times with our number of penalties and thats why managers are bringing it up right now.

It’s not that unprecedented. We had 14 all of last season. Leicester have already had 10 this season. They’re only 3 behind over the course of the last year and a half. For some reason nobody gives a shit about Leicester.

My issue is more to do with inconsistency surrounding decisions. You'll see a penalty given for something one week and then not given the next. It's coincidence if certain teams get the benefit more than others, and these things balance themselves out over a season. It was the same last season when everyone was crying about VAR going our way. Swings and round abouts.

In all fairness the red card for Martial and Lamela not getting one for initiating the whole thing was ridiculous in terms of decisions against United this season. United don't lose that 6-1 if it's 10 vs 10.
