I used to hate Madrid for this exact reason, especially with their conduct regarding Ronaldo in 2008.

However, I've come to really appreciate them over the years due to how good they've been at keeping Liverpool and Abu Dhabi from trophies.

Seeing them decide to sign City's players is glorious. Hala Madrid!

I don't know if I agree. You have midfielders coming off back to back relegations going for over 80million pounds.

I understand he has a year left on his contract and is coming off an injury ravaged season, but he was starting to look himself towards the end of the season + his WC performances show he's still the best his position has to offer.

Losing him on a free or pocketing 60 million and accepting it's going to seriously weaken their side for the upcoming season seems unlike City. That level of money makes little difference to them.

Unless Rodri throws his toys out of the pram, or Madrid offer more cash, this smells like a Madrid on a free next season to me

The fact he just bossed the world cup with that injury suggests it's not as bad as it sounds.

Yeah, it really all depends on the nature and severity of the injury. This was first reported weeks ago and it’s always been referred to as a minor procedure. So who really knows.

Rodri appears to be a good professional, i thought he may not be able to return to his pre ACL level but he's done it, seems to take care of his body so don't think he will go down the Hazard/Schweinsteiger decline.
 
Rodri Camavinga Bellingham feels like a potentially fantastic trio, guess it’ll be Valverde as the third man though. Would sell Tchouameni and Arda.

Hazard was already on the decline when he joined Madrid, he was notorious for being a very poor trainer and it caught up with him, which is why he kept getting injured and was overweight.

Hazard also had seasons and periods where he went missing and didn't offer much on the pitch.

Rodri is the best midfielder in the world and yeah he had a cruciate injury but he recovered and became the best midfielder in the world again.

Valverde is gonna be captain under Mourinho. Arda is untouchable. Tchouameni signed a new contract. Mourinho doesnt want Camavinga, but Camavinga doesn't want to leave. Not forgetting Bernardo Silva. Its a super strong midfield of talent. That's before you add Rodri.
