Rodri

They signed Anderson and are about to sign Bouaddi, highly doubt they'll be in for a Real midfielder
Depends if they see Bouaddi as ready for a starting role. The two signings are replacing Rodri and Bernardo so it is not as though the squad has grown larger and Maresca is supposed to prefer working with a bigger group than Pep. Lots of rumors still swirling around Gonzalez and Reijnders potentially being moved on before the window closes too.

Also Bouaddi could stay at his current club until 2027.

Were gonna sell rodri for less than half what we paid for Anderson.

Giving me Dzeko out Bony in vibes.

Twice the player

True but he is 30, had a major injury recently and last year of his contract and demanding big wages and long contract again.

While Anderson is 23 i guess.

City will be in a market for a 6 too i guess, unless they do a exchange for tchouameni. Bouaddi wont be a starter yet.

What about Fernandez reuniting with Maresca?

Sounds more realistic

Goes to show that quality can still be had with the right timing in the transfer market. Worse players than him are going for £100M a pop, yet here is probably the best midfielder in the world - at 30 but who can comfortably play 5 years at the highest level still - going for a modest £60M.

Helps when he really wants to sign for you

Come on, you must realise that its not that simple. When RM want a player, they generally get them. When RM want a player they rarely pay what others would pay for that player. When players know that RM want them, they often tell their club they want the move and don't want any other move.

No City don't have to sell but they generally don't keep players than don't want to be there and they don't want an unhappy player.

If he was on the open market we would be going for £80m+. I reckon RM will get him for £50m or so.

Yeah push even harder for that move Rodri

And you just know that Reijnders will move for a significant chunk of change despite being a flop.

Would have 4 of the 5 spanish midfield starting for them then; Rodri, Pedri, Olmo & Yamal.

I love how philanthropists at football clubs are so concerned that sports journalists won't have anything to write about in the summer, and to make sure that doesn't happen, they leak every detail of ther negotiations, revealing all their secrets to everyone else.

A game of poker with all the cards face up, as if you were learning the rules. How sweet.

Bit of a strange one as he looked very finished as a top level PL player last season, so these big fees would have looked like amazing business for city at the time. But after his WC performances, he looks again like he’d be a big loss. I do wonder if the pace of the league may have caught up with him, maybe.

If he leaves, then they'll have lost 18 out of the 23 players in the matchday squad for the CL final 3 years ago. 9 of the starters. Kinda mad.

Thought he finished the season well for City no?

As to international football, he looked brilliant for Spain but I reckon I would have been passable with that team around me. Such a balanced team with everyone working perfectly together. Its a much slower and more open game in international football in general. Even if he is losing something vs a few years ago he will be fine in Spain.
