If we win both those finals, we had an argument to be one of, if not the, greatest team ever. Obviously that Barca team was better than us and is probably the greatest club side of all time. Those two finals are a big part of that.

It has been their weakness in the last couple of seasons.
Everyone analysis / praises / criticises their club based on the context of their recent success. Madrid are used to winning trophies (barring toe years) and hence naturally their fans are looking at their squad keeping that in mind, and they do lack quality in the midfield buildup or playmaking aspect.
Expecting their fans to see their team as if they were United oscillating between in the top 4 and outside, doesn’t make sense. Their ambitions are currently greater and so are the necessery standards.
Does that really make sense in the context of competing against: PSG, Barcelona and Bayern Munich? Even Arsenal could fancy their chances against that grouping. Context is everything and you’re not applying any.

The common denominator to the CL winner going back to 2007 is the presence of at least one truly world class CM in the team, with 11/12 team'-of-destiny Chelsea the only exception

Crazy that one of Barca or Real hasn't completed this deal yet. For Barca (injuries pending) it pretty much guarantees them 2 more league wins and probably a better run at the CL. And Real...yea they spend all that attention on Vinicius and Diomande, but they dont go 100% to get the one guy who could truly make a difference.
Think Rodri only wants to go Barca now, which make sense, his type of football will be appreciated alot more there.
Real Madrid are concerned with Galacticos, they are not looking at team balance.
Couple of months ago, Perez boasted that Real Madrid had the most valuable squad in the world, so its clear what the priorities are, its not squad balance.

That was back in 2022. This summer £75m for B28 year old Bruno G is overpriced. City's demand seems reasonable for a world cup winner.
It is just like PSG. You have to set an example and send the clear message to all the players and agents that the club won't give in to player power, when you have the resources to do so. It is not a club you can mess around.
