Rom's being showered with praise on the BBC during halftime. Utterly deserved, we are seeing some of his best ever performances in this world cup.

The massive hard work and continual improvement since he joined us has started to pay dividends in his performances. During this World Cup he is playing Kane off the park with such complete attacking displays that bring things to Belgium all over the park. I hope he managed to bring some of it back to United despite our less attacking style under Mourinho.

All he needs is a goal for a 10/10 performance. Absolutely sensational.

Touch, hold up, dribbling and link up has been on point.

Lukaku being brilliant today, and i really like the Belguim's setup in this match. We could emulate that with:

Martial------------------------Lukaku
----------------- Sanchez---------------

With Matic, Pogba and Fred in midfield, we should be playing fantastic atacking football next season.

He's already reached a level I thought was beyond him when he first signed. Can't wait to see where he goes from here...

I've never seen someone as huge as him so fast, he got no business doing those accelerations with that frame of his.

The United version of Lukaku is the one that only had 6 touches in the first half of the opening game. This version is finding the ball in different areas rather than playing targetman for Young and Smalling's hoofs. Also has elite ball carriers like KDB and hazard so all his touches don't have to come with his back to goal

Brilliant performance. It helps he’s part of a fluid attack & when he has players making runs creating space for him rather than the rigid formation he gets at United.

How have we not tried him in this free role before? In between the lines and roaming all over the place. It's like watching a completely different player altogether. He is wasted as a target man. This is world class performance so far.

4-3-3 with him as a free role \ rw type player and Martial centrally would be great. Jose probably won't entertain it though, he is unable to change from his 'big striker up front' mentality.

Hopefully we'll try something like that in pre-season. Sanchez left, Martial central, Chong right/free role.

Or just looks more like the player that was at Everton.

He’s not a target man and never has been, and this is what you get when he isn’t just chasing lumped balls or just trying to get knock ons.

Have to agree with that. He’s improved since he’s come here though no doubt. If he keeps improving he’s going to dominate the league for years to come.its up to Jose to get the best out of him.

I always rated Lukaku as having a higher ceiling than Drogba. Got laughed off Arsenal forums for saying we should go all out for him when he was valued at 40m.

He’s an absolute beast of a player and will get better.

Matches like these where his team are playing a counter attacking football suit him. He can make use of his ability to hold up play and use his pace.
At United, we are the ones attacking and the other team is playing on the counter. There he depends on service from the wingers and midfield; which unfortunately our team don't seem to be able to provide.

Great from the big man.
He should be in the conversation for player of the tournament if they get to the final.
He won't win it but should be in the conversation all the same

He's been playing like this for a while now to be fair to Lukaku and United.

Maybe the best performance I've personally seen from him in terms of all round contribution.

I hope this is his "Ronaldo 2006" tournament where he comes back on another level

He was great tonight but you are right. We don't get to play counter attacking football much in the PL. It isn't because of how we set up but because of how the opposition set up. He looked devastating at Everton on the break too at times.

Whoscored gave him that an assist for the second goal, looked to me like he was tackled by the Brazil player who inadvertently played the perfect ball?

Hazard doesn't care much for Big Rom, does he?
Not sure if its that, he just cares about himself much more.

Has looked good and I'm all for praising the big man.
Running one out of play, and a couple of really critical mis controls took it down a little though.

Liked the comment from Rio about him looking like a 16 year old in a game of 11 year olds though!

He's been absolutely class all tournament. If Hazard wasn't such a dick he'd have 10 goals already.

Hopefully this performance is not forgotten by his haters. If hazard wasn't such a jerk , lukaku could have got his goal.

Good first half from him. Second half it seemed like Miranda had his number, maybe cause he was getting tired anyway. Also, why wasn't hazard passing to him?

Miranda did get the measure of him a bit but he wasn't getting the support he was in the first half because Belgium were sitting deeper and deeper.

Yes. Also helps that Brazil have Marcelo playing as a winger (even, to a certain extent, in the first half).

What about the Liverpool game? Or the numerous games where he's scored headed goals? The truth is, he's both. He can use his aerial ability to put us ahead then use his pace/power (racist much?) on the counter. A bit like Pogba who uses his creativity when teams are sitting deep then can drive through midfield when the game opens up.

Seems like there's something going on between Rom and Hazard. Hazards wants to be the leader of the squad being the captain and all but big Rom is the natural leader.
