Rashford will eventually become the better player but Lusaku is gonna score host of goals for us this season. It's good to have both of them.

People analysing a half against LA galaxy lol. Even though Rashford scored 2 it means very little, wait till were 3 or 4 games in then you can make observations but these games are almost meaningless in terms of everything but practice and fitness.

He got only once chance in the game and he missed it. Not a big problem at all as it's nothing new that he's not the type of striker that will create for himself but needs service from other players, something he didn't find in the game. His link with Martial seems out of synch and Martial was doing everything on his own. I'll only worry about Lukaku if he's getting 4 or 5 chances every game and missed all of them, otherwise, no.

I think he's more suited to the lone striker position rather than the 2 strikers system and that we'll mostly field next season, as he'll be the focal of the attack who gets almost all chances and will shine in scoring it.

I don't like the comparison with Zlatan as the later is supposed to be one of the best strikers in his generation and it's very unfair comparing a striker who is at the middle of his career to a proved striker who won almost everything bar CL and scored goals in almost every country. Lukaku is Lukaku and should be judged based on that only.

Didn't have the best of games but will improve. Looking forward to seeing him during the season and hoping he scores the goals that we know he can.

That said, it seemed like everyone else managed to get chances.. yet he didn't get many. That's a worry. Majority of teams in the EPL sit back against us as well so he ain't going to get much chances in open spaces

For all the "proven goal scorer" remarks, dude only scored in 17 premier league games last season, that's less than half of league matches, went on a run of 13 games without scoring, has a heavy touch and lost possession 584 times compared to ibra's 416.

I don't know man, I want to be hopeful but I can't shake the feeling that we should have gone for someone more technically gifted...oh well, just gotta hope for the best but that wasn't a good showing

Watch his highlights now away from the match itself. Doesn't really look that bad at all. The chance he missed was a poor finishing sure and could have played it much better, but he hold up the ball very well and wasn't selfish. His first touch looks decent and not as bad as people were claiming.

You think scoring in 17 league games is a bad record?

For his first preseason game back off holiday and in a new team he looked good. Will only get better.

He looked pretty awful if we're being honest.

Not concerned though.

Scoring in 17 games is good. I don't think Kane has ever scored in more than that. He tends to go on barren runs too, then scores about 7 in two games like a maniac.

I thought he had a good game. He occupies the defenders and creates lots of space for everyone else. No evidence of that infamous poor first touch either.
It's been incredibly overstated due to him signing for you. He's improved it considerably since his first season with us.

Plenty of games to come, he needs to get used to his new teamates. Let shake of his nerves and get into some sort of rhythm then he will start banging them in for us. He ia playing wuth better players than he did in his previous clubs and the chances will come his way.

So knee jerk on here. It's a bloody friendly!! Let's judge him come Christmas time. If he isn't doing the business by then hopefully the other lads will step up eg Martial, Rashford, Ibra (if he comes back)

Just 17 matches, you say? Debunks the theory that he'll help us score more against the low to mid tier teams, given the fact that those make up the numbers.

Am I missing something? Lukaku scored 25 league goals last season, Kane scored 29.

Just watched the match. The thing he brings to the team (well, apart from the goals) is the way he pulls defenders towards him. Leaves so much space for the other players, which will lead to more goals. And he is just a truck isn't he?

haha wow now even the goals he scored are worthless. Wumming is strong in here
No. Just pointing out that many top strikers hammer it home against the smaller teams.

We badly need one of those. If we had a "flat track bully" in the below games we would have been pushing for top 3 easily.

Man utd 1 Stoke 1
Man utd 0 Burnley 0
Man utd 1 West Ham 1
Man utd 0 Hull 0
Man utd 1 Bournemouth 1.

Meh! He missed a goal. Morata would never have missed that chance.

Just watched the highlights, and my initial thoughts are that he played pretty darn well when you consider the factors of the match.

Preseason (1st match)
His debut (only been with us what 5 days!?)
Experimental formation

What are some of you expecting?

It's obvious that there's a whole lot of tweaking and settling into the team that will take place over the next few weeks of preseason..

Jesus let's give the lad some time and support!

Yeah, if only i had mostly remarked on his output last season and not on his one pre season match right? Oh wait

Hope we kept the receipt tbh, wonder what's the policy for refunds on players

So he basically scored in nearly 1 in 2 games he played in? That's a terrific record.

With the utmost respect, there's another level of stupidity by some on here. Come on we've watched this lad season in, season out score goals IN this league. Now it might not happen for him here but after one half and four training sessions, new team etc.....please let's not make him the new dog to kick.
