What? The man was simply a flat track bully. He needed everything on the plate to get a goal. He has atrocious first touch, is lazy and not agile enough. I have never seen him creating a goal out of nothing. One of the worst CFs to play for the club. We did well to recoup most of our investment.

Conte said he's not in his plans so even if he stays he won't feature much.

The absolute definition of a flat track bully. I read a stat which said he's only scored 1 goal against the top 6 sides with us.

I'm sure that stat isn't much better from when he was at Everton or WBA either.

When you look at Rashford's second goal yesterday (the 3-0) and see the lovely first touch to ring the ball down from Pogba's pass - imagine if Lukaku was on the end of that pass instead? He absolutely killed attacks last season over and over again.

He never fit into the team at Utd - genuinely I think he is an atrocious footballer from a technical point of view. Like, completely atrocious. A net negative for any team with the ball at his feet.

He came out and admitted months ago he bulked up for the World Cup, was too big and it was affecting his game.

Why has he seemingly done nothing about it?

He looks huge in that clip? He's going to be as immobile as ever.

Probably struggles to keep the weight off, slow metabolism that has slowed even further. He was a very early developer so perhaps he's getting the slow down most people get in their 30s.

It really shouldn't be that difficult when it clearly affects his profession, and he has or can very easily have top nutritionists telling him exactly what to eat and even making it for him. He is in a very privileged position where losing that weight is going to be as easy as it ever can be for a person, if he can't then I don't think there's anything to blame except himself and his mental state and attitude

Totally unprofessional of him to not be fit by now. Glad he has left. Feeling entitled to that big salary and not train for it is just so not what united should be about. Sad really as you still can see he can't handle himself with a bad touch (from the Bergamo game). I wonder if Juventus will ask more of him..

He looks right at home, playing football at walking pace. No surprise there. Still somehow ended up looking knackered, mind you.

Yeah agreed, not replacing him was a bigger issue than just selling him itself.

Could fully see the ball rolling out off his first touch or stopping the ball to turn his back to goal. At best I'd imagine a heavy touch out wider and a decent finish.

Yeah that's a shocking stat. Was never a big game player and will never be. I can only thank him for his two goals against PSG and that's it.

He was 105kg for us when he came back from the World Cup. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t more now.

You can have doors at the training ground which the public aren't allowed in to witness. :smirk::smirk::smirk:

He will still score goals if you feed him in the penalty box, other than that though...he is barely moving, on the ball he is not on the level. he can pull out a nice pass once in a while and score some good goals, but if he doesnt score regularly, which happens for a while during a season, he offers very very little. I am happy we took the 70m, because that is a great price for such a limited player. He would be stinking up the place on and off the pitch during the season if still here. The only thing is we should have used the money to invest back in the squad, to buy a midfielder or striker really.

Was so refreshing watching us play with freedom and without a pinball obstacle ruining every single attack. Good riddance.

Totally agreed, never would have scored that 3rd goal with him. Feck even the second goal, I can't see Lukaku making a run into the box like Martial did. He'd probably hang back a bit further while pointing at his feet instead.

He is not for everyone. So the fans weren't allowed to witness their new CF.

Which is exactly why its good to have him as a squad player. Can play against a number of those teams and guarantee goals. Currently, Rashford and Martial are just not consistent in that role.

His first touch in that video is a 5 yard pass that somehow manages to bounce across the turf.

Getting rid of him was such an important step in our rebuild.

Not sure why all the hate - sure he wasn't the most technically gifted CF we had but nor was Andy Cole as an example. He did a job for us for a couple of seasons and I wish him well at Inter. Personally think he'll be in the top 3 goalscorers in Serie A whilst he is there

Andy Cole was fecking lightyears ahead of Lukaku in terms of technique.

He also scored in big games, unlike Lukaku.

They're not similar at all actually.

You simply don't keep an 80m forward to play as flat track bully. And he doesn't guarantee goals if not being served on a plate which is the case with our side recently.

But, why? He wanted to be a starter, and the very fact that he was considered a squad player at best is one of the chief reasons he wanted out.
