Well, he shouldn't start every game, that's the issue with him.

Also, somehow, he looks void of confidence. He had these moments yesterday where it was clearly visible he was afraid to receive the ball near a defender.

He either needs benching here and there, or we need to play with two strikers, otherwise he'll be useless for the whole season.

Unless he makes a second season, looks destined to be 14th in the all time list.
15 so far, and only 1 in ages, so 20 might be a stretch this season.

I wish he had rejoined us when he went to Juve. Assuming he'd have scored a similiar number with us as he did at Juve, he'd be on course to be our all time top scorer now.

All time top scorer of United and Madrid. How absolutely ridiculous would that be! For someone who started off as a pure winger as well (so he only had very few goal scorer seasons at United)

At least 10 more games this season then, will be very interesting how many more he can bag.

Needs 9 to tie with the next guy up which might be a stretch, but should get to 20 for the season just needing 2.

Statistical deep dive about the impact of Ronaldo on winning…

https://www.espn.com/sports/soccer/...ited-portugal-benefit-today-version-superstar

Granted, the same article puts Messi in the top 10, but he’s been awful for PSG this season…
That’s pretty damning.
In his final season with Real Madrid, the team won 76 points and finished third in LaLiga, behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. In his first season with Juventus, the team won 90 points, five fewer than the season before. The following season, Juventus won 83 -- the team's lowest point total since 2011, when it finished seventh. Then, last year, Juventus took home just 78 points, finishing fourth and ending their nine-year streak atop Serie A.

This season, Manchester United have taken 50 points from 29 games. The projection model from FiveThirtyEight sees them ending the season on 63 points. Last season, they finished with 74. In fact, 63 points would be the lowest total for Manchester United since the Premier League was created.

One of two things is happening here: Either Ronaldo is making the teams he's joining worse, or he's maintaining his same level while all of the players on his new teams are suddenly performing at a worse level than before, unrelated to his presence on the field. Given that he's aging ever deeper into his 30s, the former seems more likely than the latter.
Stating the bleeding obvious but sometimes the bleeding obvious needs to be stated, evidently.

I still think context is needed. Madrid were always going to slow down after the 3 champions league, and everyone knows Juve were on the decline. United had a PE teacher in charge and the goals scored eventually trended towards xG. Maybe I'm making excuses, but what it does show is ronaldo is probably no different to your good striker these days.

Edit: that Ole autocorrect

So if this was true and it wasn't the others level dropping, it was Ronaldo holding them back i assume juventus are getting more points per game this season since they added a new £70m striker and shipped Ronaldo out?

I've checked the table and they're 16 points off last season's total with 6 games to play so would need to win every game in order to beat last season's points and if they lose just one they'll finish with less.

They also got dumped out in the champions League by losing 3-0 at home to villareal, so this doesn't seem so much like "the bleeding obvious" really

It can also just be sometimes coincidental. Juve went further in the CL in the seasons before he joined, than when he arrived. They also won the league 8 or 9 times in a row before Ronaldo joined.

United did miles better last season without Ronaldo than with Ronaldo.

But then the flip side, Juve are doing worse now than when he was there, RM did worse in the CL after he left.

Sometimes these things happen, for a multitude of reasons.

22 for the season, can he squeeze it out to 25? And give himself a chance of getting up to Spence/Giggs level next season?
Should at least have a decent chance of getting beyond Scholesy and into the all time top 10.

Not optimistic he'll even be here.

Where do you think he's going? On 500k a week :D
It's a legitimate point. Only PSG realistically to "replace" Mbappe from a global marketing standpoint. However a front 3 of old CR7, Messi and lazy Neymar will not bode will for their CL ambitions.

At the end of the day, Ronaldo will have to decide with us what's more important at this stage in his career. We're miles away from winning trophies.
