Much prefer the Carrick approach - where everyone has a chance and publicly or via the media no one is ousted.

How did it go so right for him at Sporting? Was he saying these sorts of things when he was there?

Hiring this dude after what he did to United, is nothing short of malpractice. What the hell were Milan thinking?
Sporting was a club in turmoil and he got them out with his hardline approach and that’s why he was revered, as far as I remember reading about it

Yes we are such a fantastically well run club it’s hard to believe Amorim struggled(5th). They basically skittled the club didn’t get the players he needed and then when they did it was too late. I don’t think the front 3 we bought ever played together under Amorim. He’s fired just as the big teams are struggling under the weight of competition, our front 3 suddenly get fit and Bruno and Cas have their best ever seasons(think Cas scored 1 goal in Amorims first season) for the club, player power?. Sure tactics would have played a part but an Awful lot went right last season and it a concern with the extra games a lot of that could need finding from somewhere else.

He wasn't 5th he finished 15th. The worst finish we had since we were relegated. And the same team that couldn't win 3 games in a row under him went onto win 13 out of 17 when he left. Now either Carrick is the second coming of Pep or he really is a shit coach. You pick one.
And Amorim got additions. About 200 millions worth of it. Yet he insisted on suffering and makings suffer along with him.
It's a bit simplistic. They were in turmoil especially with fans and the infamous training ground invasion but it should be said that they were still the third best and wealthiest club in Portugal. That the floor for improvement is lower, that the job of building the squad was largely done by Hugo Viana and that he still didn't dominate the league in spite of both Benfica and Porto being in turmoil themselves.
To me his time with SCP is slightly overrated due to how long it took them to win the league again. While fans of SCP should be extremely happy, outsiders should look at it with a bit more objectivity.
Such a shame Pep didn’t quit sooner so Amorim never got the chance to showcase his idea at City.

TBF we did have a high culumulative xG under him. It all came from potshots and Dalot as the final pass for some reason but he'll give them decent possession and an attacking style. Whether they actually win 2 in a row ever is a different matter.
Further highlights the culture that needs to change here with managers. Our fans will lap up anything a manager says or does and anyone who questions things is shouted down. Meanwhile, we have seen our most recent managers be analysed and questioned for their behaviour/performance from day one at Leverkuson/Milan.
The big benefit those clubs have is seeing them act a fool here, but point is we should not be on our knees bowing to managers before they have proven themselves and earned it and when they show poor performance it should be rightly called out without blind faith dominating. Support them yes, but not over the club itself and not in the face of obvious under performance and/or vocal disrespect towards the club.
I think everyone accepts that improvements can take time but a portion of the fanbase has twisted that notion into a belief that things inevitably get worse before they get better. Wittingly or not, Amorim’s “suffer” talk played into that belief and effectively gave him a free pass from being judged on the usual metrics applied to a manager (winning games) on the basis that there was some longer term master plan at work. I doubt Milan and their fans will buy into that BS.

That being said, it really does seem like so many of the issues he has at United and is seemingly now already having again at Milan could be solved if he was just more agreeable.
