Ruben Amorim - AC Milan head coach (not manager, or perhaps manager) | living rent free in your heads

Funny enough. He may work there. His formation and tactics were too complex to work in England. Like ETH, too many components had to consistently work to make sense. Teams are too fast and aggressive for that to work in England, but with a good squad of players in Italy, it might bear better fruit.
 
I actually hope he does well as i like it when the traditional big clubs are competitive and I do like Milan from back in the day. As others have stated they’ve played 3 at the back before and if he shows he can be more flexible and adapt he could do well. Recruitment will be interesting if they go established or young and hungry.

Milan fans have been in need of collective emergency therapy for a while.
 
I wonder if he would change his methods and play to the strengths of the players he has. I think he may do decently there. Several players have felt it easier to strive in Italy after the PL stint. Could be the same for the managers.

They're still apopleptic over the way the club has been not-run ever since Cardinale took over and sacked Maldini

They hate Cardinale and Ibrahimovic worse than you guys hate Amorim
 
Is he officially "head coach" and not manager and does he know this?
Maybe he'll rant about being a manager if/when things don't go his way.

Since we probably never ever gonna get relegated (let us hope) there is no big difference btw missing out on Champions League as 5th or 6th and finishing 12th.

In that sense, I'm also aware that there isn't much to lose. Still, Amorim isn't convincing, especially when we have a better option, Glasner.

I genuinely think that all the football world is a bit too hyped for the Portuguese coaches. I don't see them that successful, yet they are capable of landing great offers for themselves, all the time.

Amorim is more handsome than Allegri, Fonseca, and Conceicao, plus great looking hair, (nh). Those are the positives I see as of now.

I want him to be great, be the Sporting Amorim and not the Man Utd one. Hope springs eternal.

Might find Milan a better fit than us. I might be wrong but I think 3 at the back is in the Milan playbook so he might adapt better there.

Will be intriguing to see how he does and obviously we are playing them soon. I’m still miffed he hasn’t addressed the fans though.
 
Fair enough I suppose. This'll be his time to sink or swim as I can't imagine many other clubs will take a chance on him if he fails.
 
weaker league he should do ok, weird though he's saying its one of his ambitions. I guess any manager gives that line.
 
Here in Italy they're bringing up quotes from him dating back to when he was a player claiming he was a milan(and benfica) fan, and then again more quotes from when he started coaching saying his dream was coaching Milan(since he couldn't fulfil his dream of playing for them)

Anyways, if they don't win games right away he's gonna last less in this job than he did in Manchester
 
Hilarious how AC Milan fans are acting like they're some top team these days who'll have all the best managers waiting in line to join them. You've spent more time outside top 4 in fecking Serie A than inside for the last 12 years. Amorim is the best you can hope for.

Completely ignoring what he did before he joined us in a league much more comparable to Serie A than Premier League. No surprise if he does well for them.

It ‘s not arrogant to not want the worst United Manager in living memory to take charge of your club. It’s sane.

What’s insane is the idea that Amorim is the best a club that has won 19 Serie A titles and 7 Champions Leagues could hope for.

See, why do you have to put it out like that, though? Why are you ignoring what he did before United, in a league comparable stylistically and quality wise to Serie A? Why is United everything you remember, especially for you, as a non-United fan?

AC Milan have spent most of their time outside top 4 in a shit league for the last 12 years. Why are you talking about their earlier Champions League now, as if that is somehow relevant?
 
He was a terrible fit for us but he brought us some good signings even if he didn't know how to use them properly, I never hated him, he was just out of his depth and extremely stubborn I genuinely wish him well.

I’ve watched a player who absolutely terrorised the Portuguese league get benched as soon as Havertz came back from injury. Outside of Porto and Benfica, Sporting had incredibly weak domestic opposition. Portuguese La Liga is not close quality wise to Serie A.

Also, it’s his most recent job and his only tenure at a giant club. How Amorim did at United is far more relevant than how he did at Sporting. Surely you’ll concede that, at least?

Of course it is. It is much closer to each other than Premier League, in any case.

I would not say it is. The pressure at United is first and foremost a completely different level to AC Milan (even if they're also a giant club with great history), and the chaotic state of the club at the time of his arrival is not something to scoff at.

I can see why fans are opposed to it, of course, but take a look at these managers for AC Milan in the last 12 years; Tassotti, Seedorf, Mihajlovic, Brocchi, Montella, Gattuso, Giampaolo, Fonseca, Conceicao, what did they do prior to joining? Nothing (bar Fonseca, but it was with Porto). Yet, somehow, Amorim, who has actually won something and built something before is being made out to be some sort of meme because of how he did with us. It does not mean he will do similar for Milan.
