Ruben Amorim. Fired for being crap. Full stop. Just another addition for Amol as he loves it

Stubborn and strange guy. Two real positives from his time here:
- Much better squad when he left vs. when he arrived
- Played Amad

I'm sure he'll get another job in Portugal easily.

I'd be amazed if he gets another good or even decent job outside of Portugal though. His stubborness will count against him and also the way he basically had a temper tantrum to force the boards hand in sacking him. That's before you even get to the results he had here.
His next job will be the biggest of his career. If he shows he has learnt nothing from his time here and remains stubborn in the face of poor results, especially if it ends up with his departure, then it will probably be the end for him.

Had nothing to do with him really though. His outburst essentially confirmed he had not much to do with transfers.

He wanted Semenyo and Nuno Mendes and Quenda as our wing backs. Him not having a say in the transfers is a shame when it comes to them. We could be playing Mendes as our LB now and Quenda instead of Dalot with Semenyo as our LW. Realistically Mendes was never coming here but he refused to sign a contract with PSG so we could have tried to make a move at least.

He also wanted Martinez over Lammens, so careful what you wish for

Martinez is a great keeper who probably made one of the most important saves ever in a World Cup final. No one could have predicted Lammens to come in and be this good. And I'm sure getting Nuno Mendes in along with Martinez as our goalkeeper would be far better than Lammens and Dorgu.

Was Nuno Mendes even attainable?

Yeah there was progress to improving the dressing room under him.

He also massively improved the athletic standard of the squad.

Other than that he was a massive flop.
If he reflects on his time he will hopefully regret being stubborn with his system and understand that Wilcox was correct in that meeting. He himself knows that results buy time. Switching the default system to one we get better results in with the squad and building flexibility over time was the way to go, but his ego couldn't handle that.

Wanting the best LB on the planet is hardly some stroke of genius. No one really knows how much impact he had on transfers, so while we're definitely in a better spot as a squad than we were when he took over, it's hard to say how much credit goes to him for it

Fabrizio reported that he was linked to several PL clubs and that he wasn't happy with his contract. PSG are trying to cut their wage bills and has had it cut in half over a 3 year period, but ultimately they waivered to Nuno Mendes. Understandably, considering he is a generational LB player and could be top 5 of all time, if he isn't close to already. Like @hellhunter already pointed out, it's not a stroke of genius to want him, but there are posts on here who suggests he wanted poor players, and wanting Nuno Mendes and Quenda among other great players really just disproves that. There are posters who genuinely think Dorgu was all him.

It's not hard to say. It's 0. His personally picked signings, if approved, would have made us worse off - similar to ETH. I'm glad we didn't go down that route.

Thread closed. I told you all yesterday
- don’t raise moderation issues in thread. Raise them privately
- more disrespect and thread derailment would result in thread closure so here it is
