Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

I think that mix of technical and physical has always been needed. The top team have always had it.

Football really isn't complicated in that sense. The ingredients of a good team have been the same for decades.

A mix of the two used to be important in any team. Now almost every player has to have both those qualities. You can't get away with just being technical or physical.

A mix of the two used to be important in any team. Now almost every player has to have both those qualities. You can't get away with just being technical or physical.

But you've never really seen top teams with just physical or technical.

The top teams have always had a blend of the two.

That blend coming from most of the players having both attributes.

You used to have the odd player who had just one of those attributes but you have the odd one now as well.

Nothing has changed in football in that regards. United's team in the 90's was lauded as being the best but also the hardest working.

Newbie here, hence posting here. Not optimistic about this evening; thinking Amorim is setting us up too defensively again. Hoping I'm wrong....

We start every game terribly, like Amorim has given the opposition the gameplan and notes for how to beat us the day before.

Gameplan: "Get a dodgy penalty"

Right.
The first 10 minutes were terrible though, Sociedad were all over us and giving the ball away left right and centre. Only led at half-time in 5 out of 26 games under Amorim.

Actually played much better now since conceding, hope it continues.

Very interesting game of football. Amorim will not make a change at half time - why would he - when the system is working perfectly. Takes just a Hojlund sitter to put this tie to bed.

He’s very very raw but you’d have to be blind not to see Dorgu’s influence on this system (not so much the player but the profile of the player) .it bodes well for the system if we get better players.

First time this season I've seen us take the game to the opposition from the start and sustain attacks throughout the game. More of the same please, Ruben.

He has gotten us to start playing some proper football again in recent weeks.

I guess a few posters won't be showing up in this thread for a few days :(

Fantastic performance from the team. The players are playing for each other and seem bought in to Amorims style. Zirkzee was immense, Bruno clinical and Dorgu caused them problems all night. The kid was playing like a young Antonio Valencia.

Deserved to beat Arsenal despite the draw. Deserved to win tonight, with some great football on display. He's stopped the losing runs. Finally we look like we're making some real progress under him.

Well well well

It wasn't randomly though.
We keep persisting, pushing and training and we get better. That's how it's done.

Good managers don't change the system on every hurdle. Unlike some redcafe members seem to believe.

I reckon we have been subtly improving since the Everton game. Pressing is much more effective, creating more quality chances. Some good signs. Lack of a reliable finisher has cost us big time.

Excellent tonight (we were very good in the 1st leg as well). The kind of game at which you can point and say we're progressing which is the most important thing atm.

I so hope he's backed in the summer. Give him the players he wants and we will be fine.

The potential is there IF he gets the correct tools for the job.

Played well today. We're so much better in the Europa league where we can physically compete and even out muscle teams. He said as much. I think it is clear what the common attribute of the players we will be targetting is likely to be. I just hope tecnhique is a close second.

Starting to see signs of things of coming together starting with the Ipswich game. Hopefully he will get a front 3 that he is happy with next season and things could start looking upwards.
