Rugby Union Discussion 2025/26

Injuries mean we’ve lost our two second rowers this weekend. Steyn and Jones have remained with the squad so that’s some good news.

Anyone else hate the 10 past 2 kickoffs, or the Friday nights, well they should just call them the Irish Kick off time, same again next season.

I like them if there are 2 good sides playing because it means I can watch a game live before going to bed, albeit a little late.

Well it would be 2 full seasons of it at this stage, it's like they forgot we can play on a Sunday or at 5
It’s very American, NBA games religiously start at 10 past, even if they’re scheduled to start on the hour. It’s fecking bizarre

Yey, looking forward to today….to get the rugby equivalent of having a baguette inserted in my anus

Never thought I’d see the day that I’d be waking up on a Saturday thinking about rugby 1st thing. Our biggest game in decades & for a whole generation, their biggest. Madness how we are in this position to begin with but credit where it’s due, they’ve proven me wrong in this campaign when I was fearing that we’d be in a scrap with Wales for the wooden spoon.

Just get the result in Dublin (easier said than done) and we’ve done what we needed to do. Anything after that is outwith our control but let’s put our ourselves in the best position to take full advantage of the unthinkable happening in Paris tonight.

I'm heading to my first Connacht game in the new stand tomorrow. Can't wait.

Temp is going to be 3 degrees with a "feels like" of -2

In other news, what could possibly go wrong...

This was great!! The new stand is incredible. Something for Connacht to be incredibly proud of.

They've also gone above and beyond to make the stadium accessibility friendly too.
Loads of areas for fans with limited mobility and even a sensory room. Fair play to them.

The result was excellent too. This Connacht team have a toughness now.

Last year, they'd have shipped way more points against an opponent playing the way Scarlets did. Instead, they ground our a very good win.
The Lancaster Effect.

It was also very enjoyable in the pub.

Very understandable!

The funny thing for Ireland and Scotland fans is one of that brethren will have to barrack for England in the late game.

Having the Irish core of this thread cheering for England is the only pleasure I’ll take from this rotten series

Ireland vs Scotland should be a good game because Luke Pearce is the referee.

Irish and French have been spoilt with success in this sport (even the English & Welsh to an extent). Can you please be gracious and just let us have our moment of sheer exuberance & ecstasy for once in this sport? It’s been a tough ride these last 27 years.

Im seriously hanging onto the hope that we can finally put out an 80 min performance today. But it’s been a loooong time since we won in Dublin.

The Irish have bullied us upfront for 17 years. We’re gonna miss those two second rowers massively.

However with Finn there’s always hope.

Fabulous rugby from Scotland to respond. That pass from Russell was a beauty
