So who'll manage the u18s? McKenna has done a great job with them, hopefully the next manager we choose is of the same mould as McKenna.
Give it Ricky Sbragia t'end of season.

Not that we are certain what Faria's responsibilities are but isn't Carrick a bit underqualified? He`s barely been in coaching for a few months.

Sorry who did you message? And what website is this?

If it is McKenna, he must be absolutely thrilled. Imagine being a boyhood United fan and getting this opportunity!
I asked the guy on Reddit who said he'd listened to Howson's podcast thing, I asked him who it was and he said it was McKenna.

I'd love it if it was McKenna, he's been brilliant this season for the U18s playing some really enjoyable football. Plus the added bonus of having in-depth knowledge of all our brightest talents, hopefully he can point Mourinho in the direction of some of them next season. I know we've talked about it in the past with Giggs but if it's true I can't help but feel we're grooming him for management, just in case things go sour with Mourinho and there isn't an ideal replacement available.

Someone should break it to him that the manager largely determines the style of play and an assistant is...well, an assistant. Faria may offer key tactical, fitness and personnel advice but it will be Jose calling the big shots.

Nothing will change with a new assistant manager. Suck it up.
Exactly. A new assistant isn't going to mean Mourinho suddenly gets us playing attractive football. It'll be the same shite served up unfortunately.

If Faria's off, I can't see it being for someone like Arsenal. Much more likely to pitch up at one of the bigger clubs in Portugal.

That could be interesting if that guy and Howson aren't full of shit.

He plays some great football and it'll be a perfect transition to the first team for Gomes, Chong, O'Connor etc with him there as assistant.
Wonder if Williams or Laird have a shot next season considering our full back woes.

I’ll be happy if McKenna was on a path to eventually becoming first-team manager.

I dunno, similar was said about Meulenstein and Sbragia (during his first spell) and both have shown that they dont have it to be proper managers.

Change is good I think it's necessary, it will do Jose good to take on board some fresh ideas.

I guess you have to step out of the shadow at some point. I like him but this may actually be a good thing. Together they’ve always played the same way. Not expecting huge changes but fresh ideas might benefit us.

Does your man Howson make people pay to listen to his podcasts? If so what a knobber!

Yeah, I completely agree with you on the last part. Hopefully we will see some expansive football next season, if McKenna is indeed taking over. And if we do play good football next season, it'll be clear who that's down to. When the time comes, I wouldn't be against him becoming manager. All day dreaming at the minute, obviously. Nothing is even confirmed yet haha but you can't help but be excited if he can bring some of football that the under 18's played last season!

Why do you think this has come about?

Simply Faria wanting to leave? Or maybe enforced by Woodward to force more attacking football?

Very interesting and possibly positive news for us. Let's see who takes the role. Shouldn't be Carrick imo. He is still too inexperienced. I'm looking forward to seeing how the style of play changes. A new direction and fresh ideas will hopefully bring us much needed change in our style of play and getting rid of this 19th century football we still play.

Good luck for him in his future. I think Mourinho too will benefit with some changes in his coaching stuff to install new ideas. Hopefully it's not only Carrick. We need someone beside him.

Exactly. You couldn’t have gotten a more attack minded player in Giggs and that didn’t stop LVG playing such mind numbingly boring football when Giggs was assistant to him.

The only way we are getting attractive, attack minded football next season is if Mourinho either decides to completely change his approach to games, or we have a new manager in charge.

Interesting that Jose says about his happiness. I think it is on Rui

People need stop with the whole Faria leaving because of our style of play. He's more likely leaving because he fancies a go at management himself.

This is one of those things that probably will effect the club in some way, but there is no way to actually know how (and how much).

Also, it probably, almost certainly, won't affect the style of play.

17 years and the kid is now a man. The intelligent student is now a football expert, ready for a successful career as a manager.
Think he's probably taking a managerial role somewhere. Good luck to him!

There is no way that Mourinho would be dictated to on playing style and first team coaches. Mourinho would likely walk rather than have that happen.

Sounds to me like Faria has been offered a managerial opportunity and he’s leaving with Mourinho’s blessing.
