Please go and do some research. Putin was in the community party and your all saying he isn’t a communist.

Your all talking absolute made up crap.
My Dad was a Maoist, he used to go around pubs in Dublin handing out the little red book and getting digs to the head for it.

I can assure you he is not a communist.

Define communism please.
Yes, he was in the communist party. Circa 30 years ago.

George Washington worked for British at some stage. I guess he was a royalist.

Gandhi too.

It doesn’t matter if everyone was forced to be a communist because the fact is that Putin spent most of his life as a communist. He isn’t a right winger that your all claiming, that isn’t in his DNA.

You don’t know Putin at all if you think he is a right winger. He is basically a despot leader, he is an extremist.

Putin and Russia are far-left extremists. I hardly can imagine right wingers celebrating Putin invading a democratic country. Even if they are, they don’t represent Trump so that’s false to say that. Every side, right, centre and left is all opposed to this act of bullying.

Don’t agree with your ‘prediction’ at all. Why didn’t Putin invade Ukraine while Trump was in power then? If you say Ukraine wouldn’t exist if Trump was president. He was president and nothing happened to Ukraine.

Putin sounds unhinged and is clearly acting like a mad man, he’s not scared of the whole of Europe so why would he be scared of America. He is invading regardless of which leaders are in power.
Holy shit dude.

he was in the communist party because you had to be to have any meaningful career back then

it’s meaningless now
Yeah but why your not laughing at the poster who called Putin a right winger? You choose to laugh at me for pointing out his communist DNA. Seems like you have an agenda as he’s definitely not a right winger.

" At least 30 Russian Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters and Mi-8 multifunctional helicopters landed on February 22, 2022 near the R-35 Khoiniki-Bragin highway, Gomel region, Belarus, which is 35 km from the border with Ukraine. "

He is a right-wing authoritarian, he is defined by his KGB past, not his membership of the party.

Wel have to agree to disagree. The only true communists are North Korea so I know he’s not a pure communist on that sense. However, there are many other countries like China and Russia who have communist values. He has been a communist most of his life. He is now clinging into power way past his sell by date. I just think it’s false to call him a right winger as that implies he is motivated by right wing policies and he’s not, he’s an extremist.

Some strange assumptions in your posts.

The bolded for instance very strongly implies that you cannot be a right wing extremist.

Could you point out some of Putin's communist policies? And could you also explain how his apparent communism sits with the number of oligarchs in Russia and their disparity of wealth?

Don't be ruddy ridiculous. No one not even the Ukrainians would accuse him of being a communist.
He is a right wing authoritarian leader. I wouldn't call him a despot because he could be get rid of if the majority of the Duma or the people wanted.

Well they aren’t communists but it’s a fair comparison. Personally, I consider all of those names quite extreme to the left as they are totally against nationalism and borders. The EU certainly shares some values of communism along with some liberal values.

I don’t speak like that but keep mocking me mate, I know your a bully who acts hard on the internet. Your insults don’t bother me.
You started off this whole thing by replying out of nowhere that my original post was irrelevant to the thread. After I explained the rationale behind my post in good faith you replied that I should take my "agenda" to another thread and now have resorted to telling people that they are "clowns" and to "do their research". Now you want to say you're a victim of bullying?

Sadly, I think that's exactly what they have to do.

Its not immediately clear that Putin will stop at those 2 republics and particularly not when he just gave a speech basically calling Ukraine a made up country. They can't afford I guess to take any risks anymore.

They won't be able to win a war against Russia but they can try to make it intolerable for Russia and Putin to be there.

They don’t consider him a right winger either which is the original point I was trying to make.

Personally I'm still wondering why Putin gets away with just being called an autocrat.

Seems to be a blatant fascist dictator to me.

Yep, and its quite worrying Zelensky has within a day gone from "there won't be a full on invasion of Ukraine" to calling up the reserves and arming civilians.

Edit: And just now declared a national state of emergancy (finally).

Fun fact. Despite common belief, USSR (and entire eastern block) never reached level of being true communist states (if we define communism by Marx and Engels theory in "The Communist Manifesto"). They all were in reality socialistic countries who were trying to reach true communism.

What is the point of arguing whether someone is left or right wing? If it ends up in a dictatorship, does it make any difference?

In the end, they have a very similar mentality. Left and Right converge on each other when they go to the extremes. Is there really much difference between Hitler and Stalin just because they are deemed fascist or communist?

I never insulted you though. I was enjoying our debate but you went too far.

The poster I called a clown completely insulted me first. People just don’t know how to debate without loosing their cool.

To be fair the right wing papers in the UK are very mixed in their messaging on this. Daily mail reading brexiteers probably all do think Putin is left because the likes of the mail spending so much time creating a cartoonish narrative of the left being Russia aligned.

Right winger in being ignorant shocker.

What the actual feck.

It seems like everyone to the left of Franco and Mussolini is pretty much an extreme leftist in your world.
