He can play both sides and Sancho can play on the right.
Barnes has played zero games on the right hand side of the field this season. In his entire career he has played on the right 15 times his whole career, compared to the 148 matches he’s played on the left.

Sancho can play on the right, sure. But he’s our best winger and his best position is on the left. That’s where he will play the vast majority if not all of his matches going forward.

We need to stop this ‘can play both sides’ nonsense. Wingers need to be specialised and play on their preferred positions these days too.

In the UK an alleged victim cannot drop a case. The Crown prosecution service will decide this based upon whether they believe there is sufficient evidence to potentially obtain a conviction.
Thanks for the information. I did not knew that

But if the victim refuses to testify, would the case be dropped?

Agree with this, both Sancho and Rashford specialise on the left so we're desperately in need of someone on the right, and the way the game has gone, it will liekly be a left footer. Leeds' Raphinha gets my vote.

Isn't there a trend in the modern PL that right footed right wingers no longer exist? We've seen Sancho arrive as a RW and be moved to the left to cut inside. Salah, Saka, Mahrez, Pulisic, Raphinha.
The old school wingers of Giggsy and Beckham are no longer. Should target Raphinha imo, despite having to pay hefty.

There are three big issues here

A- We will probably not qualify to the CL. That means less funds.

B- We might not be able to find a buyer for Martial. His salary is ridiculously high for someone whose clearly unreliable on the pitch. Thus Martial will be back unless we decide to pay most of his salary elsewhere

C- We have several positions to be strengthened. The DM role is the most pressing as Matic is the only one who can play there and he's ancient. We need a striker especially if Greenwood is out

I think that United will spend most of their money on a DM and a STK and then we'll make due to what we've got. Rashford had been horrible this season but he was decent in previous years. If he fails then we'll be hoping that Elanga can continue improving on the left to eventually replace him. Meanwhile Jadon can play on the right as shown at Dortmund and we'll be hoping that Diallo and Pellistri would provide adequate cover.

Is that ideal? Surely not but Rome wasn't build in one day and I sincerely can't see United bringing in 5-6 players. Of course things can change. We might find buyers for Martial, Maguire, AWB etc which would add additional funds. I can't see it though.
Well thats the situation I dread. I wouldnt be shocked if that happens, but two players in, no matter who they are doesnt solve our problems no matter who they are and who the manager is. Lets face if we brought three quality players in and replpaced the manaer with a good tactical coach and we have gone backwards if anything.

The priorities are of course a striker if we are left with jsut ROnaldo up front or maybe nobody and a central midfielder (actually two) has been a priority fo a long time, even more so maybe this summer when hopefully and thankfully the likes of Pogba and VDB move on.

But that is the things that fills me with hope, there are several players with contracts ending and others that want to move, Martial is one of them. I think he is despearte to leave now that the wages are a hurdle that he may well sacrifie to a degree. Our squad though is bloated, we can lose ten and still have a 26man squad before even entering the transfer market.

Being utterly ruthless with our squad, I actually feel there are up to 20players should be moved on and up to 10signings are actually needed. Of course that isnt all happening in one window, even though financially its actually possible as pretty much a zero net spend

But we really should be looking at bargain deals and free transfers to bolster our options as there are a few very good options for players we could replace:

Henderson out Vandervordt in
Bissaka out Livaramento in
Maguire out Romagnoli in
Matic out Kamara in
VDB out Caqueret in
Greenwood out Dembele in

Not saying we will move all those players off or should sign all the players mentioned, but that would be about a £70m outlay at a guess and its a negative net spend before buying a striker (personal choice Giouri £40/50m)

We can realistically, certainly bring in 4/5 players this summer I feel if we avoid spending huge fees on a Bellingham/Rice or Kane for example as good as they all are

On the bolded, while you might be right, the opposite has generally been true. Since Moyes we’ve seen an average expenditure of €204 million on transfers when we’ve missed out on top 4, as opposed to €131m when we’ve made it.

If Leeds go down Rafinha is available for €25m - this is such a no-brainier that we obviously won’t do it.

I'd be willing to cash in on De Gea and give Henderson a shot if it helped achieve the above

Rashford too

Olise's always really impressive.

That gliding, head up style of dribbling coupled with a wand of a left foot. Just a really elegant player.

He looks a talent. I’d worry it’s a little bit too samey with him and Sancho on either side, though.

I haven't watched a lot of footie nowadays, but I do remember seeing his name a while back. Recently, I did a bit of scouting on Youtube, and yeah, he really an elegant player, press resistant, left footed but is not shy from using his right, close control and dribbling style, and always looking up to pass or cross rather than shoot on every opportunity possible, but that's like in every Youtube highlight reels of every player, right? :wenger:

If anyone interested:

So elegant, even the music is not the usual terrible kind. :wenger:

If we do go for a RW i hope it’s either Antony or Olise.

I’ve only seen him in one game and I was impressed. This highlight reel is something!

Was hoping we'd be in for him this summer but if not then Antony from Ajax could be a good shout if we bring in his manager

I think if we're going to address this we absolutely need to buy somebody who specialises on the right, who's best performances are on the right, and who's track record says he plays the vast majority of games there. We've been compromising too often on this. Even with Sancho we were sold the idea he'd play on the right, and then you dig into the stats at Dortmund and his best performances and numbers turn out to be on the left.

For far too long we've had this attitude of somebody "doing a job" out there. It's no less important than left wing, surely. It's like buying left backs and putting them on the right, you just don't do it.

There is rumor Arsenal is interested in him but I hope he stays in Crystal Palace for his development.

He'd be crazy to go there with Saka in his way. Mahrez is 31, Salah may leave, we have a spot open there unless Amad makes it his own (or Ten Hag uses Bruno out right).

Leicester still haven't replaced Mahrez. That would be a good move for them.

Considering Olise is from Crystal Palace - how much do people think he will be available for?

I watched Olise few times, he looks good and very talented.

Antony could be a very good option if our manager is Ten Hag. Players might need time to settle in a new country and new league but it’s also actually important if we have players who already settled with the manager’s system. And Antony is one of them who knows what Ten Hag expects and how to play in Ten Hag’s philosophy. It will be even better if we can bring in both Antony and Mazraoui.

It looks like Raphinha and Antony both have the big dogs of european football after them so the chances of getting either of them without CL football seems slim to be honest.

Raphinha would probably prefer CL football but he could still be convinced to come here by Bruno. Antony could be convinced to come here by Ten Hag if Ten Hag is our manager and wants him. If I’m a player, why would I choose other clubs with different manager if I can play for club like Manchester United under same manager at Ajax who I can trust.

This winger needs pace and power and also the ability to dribble past defenders even at a standing pace.

It makes sense that Antony may prefer to continue working with Ten Hag, a manager who trusts him. On the other hand he may see Barca/Bayern etc as a safer bet for winning trophies. I hope you are right though and the Ten Hag factor is enough.

He is Brazilian after all. No Brazilian can reject Barcelona if they come calling. The city, weather and culture.
