I don't get it. Why are prisoners always ripped to feck? They only have a tiny cell and little walking/running facilities and a reduced diet. Why can't the average fat feck get the same results?

They don't have much else to do other than do press ups and sit ups probably.

I thought the same thing the other day when I read about groups of online hackers getting into hospital computers and installing ransomware. Some of them have been targetting the hospitals most overwhelmed and crippled by Coronavirus, knowing full well that these places didn't have time to employ tech specialists to remove the ransomware, and would most likely just pay the $5000 or whatever.

I mean, how scummy can you be? How can anybody with any kind of humanity or conscience go to bed at night and feel pleased with themselves for doing shit like that?

Maybe the fear of getting the shit beat out of you keeps you on your toes.

@RedMist99 - Hope you don't mind me asking, how is your grandpa getting on?
Hi mate,

Thanks for asking, really appreciate it. After a week long battle, my Grandpa passed away over the weekend. My Nan was also admitted to hospital but she seems to be making an improvement. The nurses made sure she could spend 15 mins with my Grandpa to say goodbye before he passed. Absolutely heartbreaking that we can't be there to comfort her.

Ahh man I'm sorry to hear that. I'd hoped he might be able to beat the odds. It's an awful disease - the isolation of the patients is especially cruel both on the sick and on the family. Godspeed to your nan!

Also, hope your parents are still symptom free - I remember you were worried about them.

Keep us posted (if you want to of course)

This is true - Have a colleague who has been in intensive care for a couple of weeks now and was in an induced coma for part of that - so difficult for the family to not be able to visit

Thanks mate. My Grandpa actually survived the Covid 19 but the fight took its toll on his body and he developed other complications.

Thankfully my parents have come out symptom free and have isolated for 2 weeks so think they're in the clear for now.

British tourists stranded in Nepal say they have had to turn to the embassies of other European countries for help, after the British government failed to rescue them. Maria Terziska, who arrived back in the UK yesterday on a French rescue flight, said, “I have never felt so helpless in my life… It was a really scary situation and it felt like the British embassy did not care about anyone or anything.” Terziska said she was trekking in the Everest region when she heard that the Foreign Office was advising British nationals to return home.

“The British embassy did nothing to get us back to Kathmandu, it was the Nepali tourism authorities and our tour guide who got us back,” she said. In Kathmandu, Terziska said she was unable to get any information about flights from the embassy, so she turned to the French for help.

Another British trekker, Scott Hopkinson, managed to return to the UK on a German rescue flight. “I felt so stressed. There was no clarity from the British embassy. It was giving out conflicting information,” said Hopkinson.

The British embassy in Kathmandu announced today that rescue flights for British nationals would be leaving on Wednesday and Friday, almost two weeks after German and French tourists began to be evacuated. A seat on the flights arranged by the British embassy costs £800, twice the cost of the French rescue flight. Foreign secretary Dominic Raab announced last week that the government had allocated £75million for rescue flights to repatriate British citizens stranded abroad by the coronavirus.

On March 22, the Nepal government banned all international flights. The announcement came at the height of the tourist season when tens of thousands of visitors arrive to trek and climb in the Himalayas. Two days later the government announced a lockdown, leaving many trekkers trapped in remote regions, struggling to return the capital Kathmandu, which has the country’s only international airport.

The Foreign Office has been approached for comment.

Tbh if you were a slob before this isn't going to change you and if you were a fitness freak before then like you said those people will be more inventive. It's a mentality thing.

Fewer work stresses seems a bit glib though. I wager there are far more people stressed about not having any work and wondering how they are going to stay afloat than those thinking "well this is nice to be out the office."
Quite a discussion on Sky at the moment with the president of the police superintendents association, amongst others, on how they are dealing with the large increase in suicides taking place. Sounds rather like there are more severely stressed people at the moment, not fewer.

Imagine having a serious mental illness and then having the worry of COVID on top of that coupled with a vastly reduced and restricted mental health service who are no longer doing face to face work. Plus not being able to see friends and family. It's not good for any of us and unfortunately will push some people over the edge.

I find the bolded the harshest of all as the sense of closure is taken from you as well as the loss of a loved one. I hope your Nan pulls through.

Since when does shutting down avenues not make it harder to do something?! Just because there are workarounds doesn’t change the fact that closing gyms has made it more difficult to get/stay fit.

And that’s without even getting into the end of organised sport. No football means my son (who has zero fecking interest in going jogging, because jogging is dull as feck) will likely lose a lot of his cardio fitness and no climbing gyms, or access to outdoor boulders, means I’m rapidly getting out of shape too (because doing loads of pull-ups and finger-boarding is dull as feck too) When exercise becomes more difficult/boring to do, a lot of people will become less fit. That’s an inescapable fact.
Ok. It’s made it harder to a pedant. But it’s not made it hard.

It’s taken away a location. The parameters of getting fit remain the same. The fact that a preferred method isn’t available doesn’t make it hard.

This is roughly my take (having brought up the whole fitness topic in the first place!). I used to play football every week because I enjoyed it - getting fit in the process was a very useful extra. Ditto kickboxing. I cycled to work because it was easier than driving and took about the same length of time.

I like to stay in shape, but find it very difficult to motivate myself to just exercise for the sake of exercising - hence no interest in gyms or jogging - and I definitely feel like im much less healthier now than a month ago, as a result.

Yeah, and I think a lot more people are at risk than just those diagnosed with a serious mental illness. Millions are on the edge with anxiety or depression that have never even sought medical help, even though they probably should have. I say they, I should have worked we in there really. Loneliness is a terrible thing at the best of times, and there must be many more feeling that at moment than ever, as you say of course.

I think you're over simplifying things.

I'm eating in different ways than I normally would now I don't spend 2 hours a day commuting and I'm spending more time around my 8 month old and partner on maternity. Those 2 being unable to get out and about and expend energy means they're quite demanding of my time (I now help with the baby where my partner would ordinarily not have a choice but to deal with it, for example, when I go to the gym straight from work). I have asthma so can't go on proper runs and have limited stuff to workout from home. I could do more, but I can also see why some may be struggling and don't think it's as simple as you're suggesting.

The Minister of Health in Norway announced this afternoon that the epidemic is «under control». According to their estimates each infected person infects 0.7 others.
