Damn just beat me to it. Umm for all of Gary's 'giving managers time shtick they do sure love sacking their managers based on results that aren't even that bad.

He lasted a month at Oldham. How's it going to work when/if they need to sack him from the club he owns?

To be fair, they are a sacking club. It's the Salford City way. :smirk:

Haven’t these hypocrites been crying about us not giving managers enough time for years?

I know some hate hearing this, but the CO92 (the vocal ones like Neville & Scholes anyway) are kinda clueless these days. Great players doesn’t always equate to great football minds.

I'm assuming something has happened rather than the manager being sacked based on results. Scholes is only in a caretaker role. Their website cannae handle the strain though.

BBC reporting they initially wanted Warren Joyce to be caretaker, but is apparently in self-isolation.

Why did they sack him? Wasn’t he doing ok?
Articles I've read say mix of the style of play and home performances. Last season Salford were 2nd in the league based on away performances and 20th in the league based on home performances. Although they've started unbeaten in the league they've won their two away games and drawn their three home, throwing away a two goal lead last time out. Also got spanked 6-0 at home by our 23's in the FL Trophy.

It'll come out if it wasn't results based

All the talk of them being hypocrites, they aren’t the majority shareholders so it’s not their decision anyway.

Ok that could do it I guess. Wonder why they bottle it at home

I think CO92 own 60% of the club (10% each) with Peter Lim owning the rest so they are in effect majority shareholders.

Personally it is hypocritical of Neville but then it's not solely his choice. Plus things aren't ever just black and white.

As brilliant and clever as Scholes was on the pitch, it's clear from his punditry that he's pretty dull-minded off it.

I thought he said after his Oldham stint that he didn't enjoy management and didn't want to do it again

I wonder what Scholes would be like as a manager. He seemed like a player that everything about the game came so naturally to him, both the mental side of things and the technical side of it. With it all coming so naturally to him I wonder how well he can get his ideas across as a manager? How well could he do with players that require a lot more drilling into them than he did.

The most obvious comparison is Zidane, another player that made it look effortless a lot of the time, and he manages to get his ideas across well enough, but it does make you wonder.

Maybe they are starting to realise that running a football club is not so straightforward.
From the way they often spoke, Neville especially, hasn’t it always just been a case of give the manager enough time and they’ll come good

Exactly. Seeing they are paired up with Peter Lim as well who isn't a great example of how to run a football club.

Hopefully lasts longer than the Oldham tenure

This is quite messy. Will they avoid sentiment if he does shit? Or will he walk away the second time, if things don't improve?

I'll have to assume it's only interim till they find a new manager. With no chance of him staying on no matter his interim results. Otherwise it'll get messy at some point.

Everyone on here talking as if they know why he was sacked . Who knows maybe it wasn't completely football reasons before all jumping to conclusions. Time will tell

They are the opposite of clueless. They are using their brand of CO92 to enrich themselves which is fair. It's just unfortunate that what they want is not great for United fans.

Apparently it was supposed to be Warren Joyce but he has Covid?

On a related note, im surprised Joyce can't get a job at a higher level than as a Salford coach!

Some way over the top criticism here. Previous managers left by mutual consent and weren't really suitable managers for a professional team. They've sacked one manager. People are so desperate to criticise! About 5 promotions in 8 seasons isn't it?
