What do you describe bang on average?

Not as if he was 100% fit yesterday either.

If you don't recognise that currently he is our best player in that midfield, his passing might not be Pogba esque but he tracks back uses his physicality too.

He needs improving on the ball? In what way? short passing? long passing?
It doesn't need to be, just needs to be a lot better than it is now

He is very underrated still. Which is good since we are not buiding up hype. Lots to work on, but he is bloody good without the ball and good with the ball too. He might lack top quality vision to pick a pass, but that might come with time.

Also he is not a DM yet has the following stats:

McTominay has won more duels (78) than any other Manchester United player this season.

most recoveries (76) among United’s squad.

McTominay has also won the most fouls (26) of any United player.

Only Aaron Wan-Bissaka has won more tackles than McTominay (18) for the Red Devils this term (Wan-Bissaka has won 43, which is absolutely insane).

Wan Bissaka is also the only player to make more interceptions than McTominay (15 vs 14).

– On the other side of the ball, only Marcus Rashford (16) has completed more dribbles than McTominay’s 15 this term.

– Only Harry Maguire (39) and Victor Lindelof (24) have won more aeriel duels than McTominay (20).

– McTominay is one of only six United players to register an assist in the Premier League to date.
In all ways my dear friend.
He is young hence should be expected to improve. But we need to get better players in midfield.

I feel he is a Midfielder that teams need in order to do well.

Obviously he is not a specialist in any department and if he wants to be a long term player I fear he needs to be.

I would describe him more as box to box, than a DM

I think Freds performance yesterday is where he should be aiming, breaking up play he has on lock, now add the ability to spread the play and he will be a very good midfielder

Anyway I find it odd that people actually don't think he seriously needs to improve his passing, I bet he himself probably recognises he does as I have seem him attempting more passing lately especially against Partizan. So he himself seems to be aware of it at least

I think the biggest compliment I can give him is that he is not on of the players in need of urgent replacement. So let's say he has been competent.

Im reading hes meant to be out for 8 weeks?

Lets see how fast our attackers can get the ball now, his presence will be a void for 2 months

I don't understand why people get so defensive on here. He has been good this season, but needs to improve his passing.
Of course he will be missed, especially if it means Matic will have to play... sigh

Hopefully Fred can keep up the performance levels

Well if he wants to stay in the team long term he needs to improve the quality of passing. The good thing is that he seems to be trying.

This is the season he has to prove himself due to lack of options and Pogba injury. Ideally what we need is a holding mid who cleans up everything and can play a bit alongside a midfield maestro.

Lets judge him at the end of the season before we decide anything.

From what we have seen of him, he has really come along way from his debut.

Solskjaer made a statement along the lines of "I've had one that's kept me out 8 weeks, and another when i've been back in two, so I dont know"

Obviously the headline from that is Mctominay out for 8 weeks.

Solskjaer said when he went over on his ankle he was out for 8 weeks, I don't know if there's any actual news on his injury yet.

Who do we actually have to replace him? Matic is still injured, isn't he? I wonder if we'll consider dropping Pereira further back and playing Lingard as the 10 perhaps? Or depending on when Pogba's back stick him in there, maybe even take a risk and stick Garner in there? We really have left ourselves very short in midfield.

Blow for Pogba too. Means when he returns he'll again be expected to play as the deep box to box midfielder, whereas putting Pogba into Perreira's role with Scott and Fred in behind would've been ideal.

I’ve rated Scott very highly this season but it wasn’t until I watched him live yesterday that I really appreciated his importance to the team! The number of aerial battles he won, tackles he made and general positioning on the pitch was top class! The way he was pulling Fred and Pereira into position throughout the match should also not be overlooked!

Will be a huge blow if he’s out for a while

As simple as this for me. He does so much of the 'dirty' work well. I have a feeling his presence would be much more noticed with Pogba ahead of him instead of Pereira. Maybe then people will realise the work he does in breaking up play and getting the balls into those positions with a player much more consistently able to make use of it. It'll be sickening if he's out. Honestly our luck with injuries this season is a joke. As bad as we've been at times I'd wager we'd be at least 7 points better off if we had most of the players missing available.

That means Lingard or Mata at 10 vs Sheff Utd which is a big no

I'd much rather Garner or even Matic come in instead of playing those 2 at 10 to drop Pereira deeper
Isn’t Matic also injured

Pereira needs to drop back

this is a blow
We need to play someone with the same skill set as Scott! Andreas would be fine next to McT but no way can he play in place of!

Please don’t shoot me but I hope Phil Jones is given a shot in there as he played the role really well under SAF with Scholesy pulling the strings next to him

If I'm remembering right he only played there when a job needed doing on an opposition player. I remember him playing there vs Fellaini, Bale and Ronaldo. Probably a few more. Hasn't played there in 6 years mind.

Its almost like the football gods are punishing us for selling all our midfield and forward options. Us fans might not like it but the club is getting what it deserves.

Sold Lukaku and Ole said in a presser that if he left he'd be replaced. I also don't think he wanted Herrera to leave or for him not to be replaced but that happened too.

Almost past the point of caring anymore. The club is still an absolute shit show and doesn't seem like it's stopping any time soon.

Pretty sure he had a decent run at cm! Remember one storming game against Wolves at OT in particular where he looked like a young Roy Keane!

Maybe it’s just my memory playing tricks though

Ralf Rangnick.
Losing McTominay will be a big miss for us as we don't have a direct replacement. We will have to lose the attacking mid, which maybe will be a blessing in disguise, especially away.

How long do we think he will be out? I did read 4 weeks which should be 3 premier league games if I am right.

If he's got suspected ligament damage, it could be a long while.

Those 4 weeks he misses Sheff Utd (a), Aston Villa(h), Astana,Tottenham(h) and Manchester City(a).

Hopefully he's not out for the worst case scenario, which would see him miss the whole December schedule, which is a further 7 matches, 5 in the league.

Need a confirmation how long he is going to be out. We don’t have backup to replace his role and Pogba is still out for another month.
