Jesus Christ. This is what’s wrong with our fan base. You lot would rather a Kevin Nolan over a Ronaldinho because he slides on his knees & kisses the badge. Being passionate & running hard is like the coleslaw & cheese with your dinner. If you don’t have the actual main course (ability) where is the point?
That's a false equivalence - Mctominay offers more to us than Nolan would, and Pogba's nowhere near Ronaldoinho. I'm a fan of Pogba unlike a lot on this forum, but the comparison is closer than you make out.
A fully fit, 2015 Pogba is no question ahead, but the one we have currently is injured often, and physically isn't the same as he once was. It's why he can't play DM for us - he constantly gives the ball away there. He's more an AM for me - bags of on the ball ability but not that much on the defensive side. It's where we've preferred to play him this season (alongside as a wide player occasionally).
Mctominay's passing is a bit 50/50, but he's far better than Pogba as a DM or a box to box. Tackles really well, provides great cover to the defence, can run with the ball, fairly press resistant, and relatively injury free - all things Pogba's struggled with as of late. He also can finish well and gets goals. So of course Pogba is the more gifted player, can score, make great assists, beat a man in the final third, - but Mctominay has qualities that suit better to playing as the DM or box to box.
