Do you only think our priority position is midfield?
We had far more pressing issues against Arsenal than midfield.
Of course midfield is a priority. Eriksen for example, at best, is a stop gap for someone better.

Like I said, the squad needed a heart transplant, not a boob job.

But I think we're derailing the thread and topic. McTominay in any capacity at United is not up to the standard. With numbers we're talking about a player who passes the ball accurately about 20ish times per game. With eyes, we're talking about a player who's peak this season in the PL was doing a spinarooni whilst holding Gabby Jesus.

You're entitled to your views on McTominay and priorities, but you won't find many agreeing with you.

McTominay needs to be moved on at the end of the season. I felt there was potential in him, but he’s regressed and should be playing for a club like Bournemouth.

Many won't agree with me because you've seen how this thread goes. Go against a "popular opinion" and you get lambasted with idiotic replies (not yours btw)
I can assure you wholeheartedly that redcafe is detached from the reality of many matchday going fans. In fact. Redcafe is on par with Twitter.

I could name you many current players who've been written off by our fanbase only for thise fans to go quiet until the next opportunity to abuse the players arises.

Some of the comments from apparent “fans” is disgusting, McTominay has never and would never let the Club down. Would love to see some of you keyboard warriors do better.

personally don’t think he is injured myself. The Manager was lying through his teeth, he is making him a scapegoat for defeat to Arsenal

It’s good to see at both times it looked like McTominay was going to be first choice for a long stretch of games, Ten Hag moved in the market to make sure that didn’t happen. No top club would have him near a starting berth, so if we’re to meet our targets he has to be back-up, rotational at best.

That's bollocks, if it was true I'm pretty sure McT would have made it known that he wasn't imjured

Hope to have him back soon. We will need the squad depth in midfield in the coming weeks. Any timeline on his return?

I don't think Sabitzer is here to compete with Mctominay. He's here to compete with Fred and Eriksen. The base of our midfield is:

Eriksen/Fred/Sabitzer Casemiro/Mctominay.

All on the left hand side can also deputise for Bruno. Let's just wish Eriksen a speedy recovery.

Minimum a week but, ETH seemed to suggest 2 weeks or even longer possibly.

He's injured too, we need cover for two midfield players. :houllier:

What does "letting the club down" actually mean? I ask because if it's in reference to actual performances on the pitch, he's let the club down plenty.

The eye test tells you he hides, but then the stats back it up as well. For a midfielder, he's rarely on the ball and his tackling isn't actually great. He mostly just "escorts" opposition players or just fouls them and his positioning is really poor.
About 4 or so times a season he'll play a blinder in a box-to-box role, getting on the ball, full of powerful running, goals even, and the rest of the season, he'd just disappear into obscurity.

All about opinions...I support every player that plays as they play for the Club. I maybe grew up in a different era perhaps? The modern fan would not have coped much in the 80s and 90s when it took a Squad to win things.

All things considered I doubt it will be much of an issue soon, all the the haters will be happy as he will be gone in the Summer and he will not start another game this season as for me I doubt that he is injured, something gone on behind the scenes.

Bit of a stretch, what is that based on? We're not in a position to ignore midfielders at the club.

So you grew up in the era where you rather slag of the manager instead of the players then?

I don't actually hate him, he just doesn't offer much as a footballer at this level as a squad player or a starter (does brilliant interviews by the way and could be a model).
And I would be pleased to see him gone and replaced by a better player.

Why do you reckon something's gone on behind the scenes by the way?

Getting a lot of flack from people and that is fine, as I said, Football is all about opinions but blows my mind that some seem to think you are "on something" or "strange" or "for real" for having a differing view, people do realise we are not all sheep who have to think the same yes? I do not know football because I rate a certain player? I do not know this, that? How do you know this from a faceless forum that is designed for conversations and debates that I know nothing about Football!

I think the Management Team at the Club are better served that experts on social media or forums to make a judgement on a Player, there is a reason fans do not get to pick the team...

Regarding something happening I dont have any tangible evidence clearly I do not but I do know body language and the like and for me I do not think he is injured, same way I do not think Shaw is sick. The Manager is in charge and it is his decision end of the day. I will still go on supporting the Club when Mct and others move but I can bet my life savings that when they do, people online and in the press will move on to someone else next season.

If something had gone on behind the scenes, we’d have likely sold him rather than exile him. There’s no basis to such theory.

McTom isn’t first choose (obviously) so he is not holding the team back in any way.

I never understand the hate squad players get from the supporters.

As Scott's agent, do you have any idea of the clubs interested in him or any idea of the amounts they are ready to pay for him?

That's because they need a scapegoat, their expectations of a player comes from FM not real life

Part of it has to do with the fact that some supporters just don't understand the concept itself (the concept of squad players).

Which is odd, you could say, unless they're so young that they never followed United over a full season under Alex Ferguson.

But on that same note, you could (of course) say that being generally dysfunctional (as United have been, largely, since Fergie retired) has made it much harder to appreciate squad players that could - potentially - be very good...er, squad players in a functional team.

I've said this many times, I'm sure - but the idea that any number of players we've had in the post-Fergie years have been horribly bad (individually, in terms of talent) compared to the likes of, say, John O'Shea is laughable. If the latter had been promoted to the first team in 2014, I don't even want to think about the abuse he'd have gotten.

Condescending post aside, John O'Shea was a much better player than Mctominay.

That's your problem though, you can't understand it. So instead of trying to figure out why, you are labeling them "haters".

Maybe, just maybe people dont share your view on things? Ever thought about that?
You wont get far in life if you cant accept that simple concept.

I find it weird that some people dont like bacon but i understand that some dont like the same food as me. I wont get angry and call them "bacon haters" like you do. I just accept it and move on, its not a big deal.

What you do however is creating a toxic environment and i wish people would stop throw around the hate word at everything they dont agree with, the world (and this forum) would be a better place if people did.

I dont rate Mctominay, not even as a squad option, am i allowed to think that or am i just another "hater"?
