I've got a different take. Diomande might be the best player on the park in 8 games a season, but he doesn't have to be the match-winner every week. Although he impacts big games more than the domestic fare, that's not about attitude for me. It's about how his attributes come to the fore when there is more transition in midfield and he's up against better players. Against deeper-lying defences his main strengths are less effective. He's outstanding at winning all the little battles that make up control of midfield over a 90-minute game. I'd like to see his consistency of passing improve, particularly in advanced areas. That's his main flaw for me. But he's young and learning and I'd expect that to sharpen up in the years ahead.
Not sure many would agree that Raskin is limited. He didn't look limited when he stepped into the Belgium midfield recently and he's been bossing the centre of the park against plenty of strong teams over the last year.
Agree about the midfield looking disjointed. Raskin moving wide doesn't play to his strengths, while Diomande can play wide more naturally, but as a left-footed player he needs an overlapping right-back which we don't have.
Raskin is a number 6, he wins the ball, breaks up play and keep the game simple by passing it to players who can progress the ball quickly through the lines.
When I say limited, its not meant as a criticism, he does what he does very well but he ain't beating a player as a midfielder, he isnt spraying 40 yard passes. Getting capped For Belgium, respectfully, doesn't mean a huge amount. If he gets 40 caps then fair enough.
Engels off us also got capped for Belgium. It means little to be honest. Probably the coach having a look at youngish fringe players to see if they are up to it. He is a limited player who is fit as a flea, presses, tackles, and passes the ball 10 yards. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. I like him as a player but he's far from having the characteristics of a complete midfielder.
Re Dio, I disagree, he is physically light and struggles when games become very physical. I've seen him posted missing in quite a number of domestic games to be honest.
I'm not having his attitude. He's certainly not a roll your sleeves up type a player and stuck in, unlike Raskin, who is to be fair.
It appears to me he doesn't fancy the physicality of Scottish football. Has ability but could do far, far more. I see yee as vulnerable when yee go away from home and teams get physical and get in your faces, yee might as well have 10 men if Dio is playing. He is 23, he ain't that young! See when u say he is ineffective when teams sit in, in a low defensive block. He has got to be one of the players ( given fee paid for him and given he has more technical ability than most other midfielders) who unlocks tight, low block defences through cute, clever passing and making overlapping runs when balls go wide to your full backs who will be situated high when up against a low block or play 1 2's with whoever is playing number 9 and get a shot away. He needs to do more and I suspect RM feels the same.
