Scottish Football 2025-26 | Can Hearts dae it?

Do yourselves a favour and watch the Craig Gordon save that happened virtually in the last play of today’s Hearts game.

Maybe the best I’ve ever seen.

*here it is

Ridiculous save from anyone, let alone a 43 year who hasn’t played since Scotland qualified for the World Cup in November.

The behind the goal view is even more impressive.

That's one of the best saves you'll ever see alone. Add in it's the last minute/Hearts fairytale season/ and he's 43. Wow

That's a title winning save. 43 years old and is most likely better than Kasper at Celtic.

It's a great save, I'd say the Dundee fans were already celebrating a goal.

He was always a very good keeper capable of that. He made some excellent saves in the PL.
But to be doing it at 43 when he hasn't played for months is exceptional.

Incredible save. Nothing but respect the way he came back from a broken leg at 41 to become the national team's first-choice keeper again. He's had a great career despite the injuries he suffered along the way.

It's surreal to think he made his professional debut in 2001

feck off. We just draw 2-2 at home to Annan Athletic. We were leading at 90+10 minutes as well (according to the live score updates on Google).

Teams fighting the top flight relegation battle are hilariously bad this year.

Three wins in 46 games for the bottom two combined.

Anyone watching the Hearts v Celtic game ? Hearts should be winning this, they've had two great openings but for a great save and last ditch tackle

Brilliant hearing Hearts singing that Champions League song that Villa are now quite renowned for

Comfortable victory.

No chance of the Hibees taking anything off Rangers tomorrow, they need to rollover against both them and Celtic.

That’s the 5th Hearts game in a row where there’s been a red card. The jambos need to stop shooting themselves in the foot.

Really would be good and healthy for Scottish football as a whole for Hearts to win the league. It's ridiculous that Fergie is the last non-Old Firm manager to have won it.

It would. Unfortunately we look like we're running on fumes right now. I think Rangers will beat us by 2-3 goals in our next match.

The format of Scottish football is woeful.

Why not just have two leagues where you play each other twice?

The format of Scottish football is woeful.

Why not just have two leagues where you play each other twice?
There are two main reasons. Firstly, the more times the Old Firm play against the non-Old Firm teams, the more money that is made for the non-Old Firm teams. Last time this was looked at there was a lack of willingness to move away from playing against the Old Firm 6-8 times a season as opposed to 4. Secondly, the value of the TV deal is higher when the Old Firm meet 4+ times a year, as opposed to just 2.

Prior to 1975 the leagues were split into two. TV money and competition for European spots were obviously less of a thing then, but fans became bored with the volume of low-stakes games towards the end of the season. This was compounded with Celtic winning the title 9 years in a row.

All of that said, there would be widespread support for expanding the top tier again. The Championship has plenty of teams with the support and infrastructure to compete in the top division.

Feels like a big day. Celtic losing, you'd expect they come back plus Rangers vs Hearts after. Hearts have an opportunity here

Incredible, Celtic 2-0 down and score a 96th min winner!

Celtic keep scoring winners far into stoppage time. They’re an awful team though.
