Scottish Football 2025-26 | Celtic sack Nancy after 8 games

That’s quite a statement by Desmond that Rodgers was basically a liar, self obsessed who created a toxic environment!

Be interesting to see what Rodgers says in response. To be fair to him they made a disaster of recruiting this summer

Rogers is a fraud….got full of himself again winning the no challenge SPL a few times again - just like that fraud Big Ange….Im not sure anyone in the EPL would be stupid enough to employ a manager that’s just come from the SPL because it’s an absolute pants league

Ahem.....

If Hearts win the Scottish title will this go down as a greater achievement than Leicester winning the Premier League? Breaking the duapoly of both Glasgow teams and first team potentially winning the league since Sir Alex with Aberdeen since 1985 is insane.

Ralston is experienced enough to know to cut his arm off before the shot.
Don’t know where else his arm is supposed to be. It was tucked in right against his body when he went to ground to block the shot.

Having said that, you wouldn’t think Rangers have played this whole half with 10 men.

You can see both sides are a long way off where they want to be. If Hearts don't win the SPL this season it will be one of the biggest bottle jobs of all time.

Heading to extra time now.

Rangers have done well with 10 men. Celtic have regressed massively since they botttled the Scottish Cup final to a very poor Aberdeen team in May.

It won’t even come close to the biggest. There is 9 points in it with Celtic having a game in hand with 10/11 games played

It’s ridiculous really. The lack of common sense is astounding.

That’s an absolute outstanding goal by McGregor. Butland though would feel he should be saving that but what a strike.

2-1

That’s an absolute ludicrous penalty decision in the OF league cup semi final.
That will always be called as a handball under the rules as it's a deliberate action where he's dived towards the ball to block it.

The worst call is Trusty not getting a red card in the first half. Shocking decision.

Celtic really do get away with murder up there. It was as blatant a red card as you’ll ever see, to have VAR in operation and still not get the correct outcome makes you wonder about the integrity of officials in Scotland at times. I say that because these calls only ever seem to go one way. Bullying and harassing the referees in 2010 so much they felt the need to strike has certainly paid dividends for Celtic.

Hate to be that nerd but their underlying xg was always indicating a drop off. Much like Aberdeen last year, although this Hearts squad are stronger and better led.

Of course the question on everyone's lips is "who the feck is this bloke?"

A quick Wiki check suggests he's had a brief managerial career, with stints at CF Montreal and Columbus Crew. At the latter club he won the MLS Championship, the CONCACAF version of the Champions League and something called the Leagues Cup, which involves teams from the MLS and Liga MX.

I am of the belief that all these trophies are worthy trophies. A regional champions league type tournament is always going to be very tough to win. The Mexican league is one of the best in the Americas and coming out on top in a cup that involves their teams is an achievement.

And I think the MLS is a decent league and winning it is a sign of managerial ability, just as it is if you win some other leagues outside the continent that Europeans like to turn their nose up at.

All that said, this was not the direction I thought they'd go.

I am of the belief that the MLS is a decent enough league and winning trophies there is a sign of managerial ability. Just as it is in some other leagues outside the continent that Europeans like to turn their nose up at.

Still, this was not the direction I thought they'd go.
I suspect it’s the cheap option

However Celtic are still better than everyone else so he should be able to manage

Big thing for Celtic fans is surely doing a bit better in Europe?

Weren't any great shakes with Ange and had some poor results in CL qualifying under Ronny Delia.

As much as Rangers have been poor domestically they have still overachieved hugely in the Europa league in last five years, really feels like Celtic should be doing that instead. Just had that one decent tie v Bayern Munich last season.

I knew Paul Tisdale had some role at Celtic but I didn't realise he was in charge of identifying the new manager.

Explains this choice though. He's very much someone who likes to work with people he knows, Wilfried Nancy's assistant is Kwame Ampadu and there's the link.

A week of Scottish Internationalists scoring screamers. Celtic were absolutely awful there but McGregor scores a rocket with basically the last kick of the game.

That handball at ibrox that wasn’t checked is farcical too. Can’t imagine that ever being ignored, let alone not instantly given if it was the old firm as the benefactors.

Celtic still going to win the league aren't they? Rangers picking up now so feels inevitable they'll take points off Hearts as the season goes on and Celtic will take advantage.

Celtic have the momentum. Hearts need to win tomorrow

Rangers have removed chief executive Patrick Stewart and sporting director Kevin Thelwell from their posts with immediate effect, with the Scottish Premiership club suggesting they do not "align with" their "vision for the next chapter".
Both had come under fire from supporters following a poor start to the season that led to Russell Martin's dismissal in October after just 17 games as head coach.
Former Manchester United chief executive Stewart only arrived at Ibrox in December, while Thelwell's appointment was announced in April, although he did not take up post until leaving Everton at the end of last season.
Rangers have since been subject of a takeover from a US-based consortium led by Andrew Cavenagh, who has now appointed director Fraser Thornton as interim chief executive while replacements are found.
"We've now had six months since we became part of Rangers to assess the club's needs as well as to get to know Patrick and Kev a bit more," the chairman said in a club statement.
"And, simply put, when we think about what we need in both CEO and sporting director today, it's different than who we think Patrick and Kev are.
"We want people that align with the vision for the next chapter."

Damn! I'm surprised that Thelwell has shat the bed so much up there.

fecking hell! We just got knocked out of the Scottish Cup at the third round by Cameron Juniors. They beat us 2-1. I hadn’t even heard of them before today.
