Diallo coming on.
Lost momentum in January as the new manager tried to work out the tactics. That was the problem with Gerrard leaving mid-season.Rangers have been impressive in these last few games vs Celtic. How did it all go so wrong in the title race?
Cheers. What's the point of it though?During the first phase, each club plays three games against every other team, either once at home and twice away or vice versa. After this first phase of matches, by which time all clubs have played 33 games, the league splits into two halves - a 'top six' section and a 'bottom six' section.
Each club plays a further five matches, one against each of the other five teams in their own section. Points achieved during the first phase of 33 matches are carried forward to the second phase, but the teams compete only within their own sections during the second phase. After the first phase is completed, clubs cannot move out of their own half in the league, even if they achieve more or fewer points than a higher or lower ranked team, respectively.
I believe otherwise they would need to play each team 4 times and it would result in 44 games a seasonCheers. What's the point of it though?
Been a great watch. These old firm games have been so entertaining recently
Thanks. Makes sense now.I believe otherwise they would need to play each team 4 times and it would result in 44 games a season
I love the effort both teams put into the match. Its the opposite of Man UnitedBeen a great watch.
I suppose it also creates a bit of excitement, as all (well, more) matches become 'six-pointers'. The Belgian league does something similar, but splits the league into four groups, and also halves everyone's point to reduce the gaps. Especially the latter is a bit artificial (why does doing well at the start of the league count less than doing well at the end? it's screwing over Union this season), but it's true that it adds tension.I believe otherwise they would need to play each team 4 times and it would result in 44 games a season
Unless they win the Europa League. You never know, I doubt anyone backed them to get this far.All of Rangers hard work in Europe is going to result in Celtic getting a guaranteed CL group spot.
No one cares about that mate, it's all about Seville now.Tweet

Let's hope the fans don't embarrass us all and treat Seville a bit better than they treated Manchester. No one cares about that mate, it's all about Seville now.
It's getting destroyed. I've no doubt about that.Let's hope the fans don't embarrass us all and treat Seville a bit better than they treated Manchester.
The Spanish police are amongst the most brutal in Europe. They won't have any compunction about putting the hammer down. It's getting destroyed. I've no doubt about that.
I'm not sure about that. Having witnessed them over the years, my money would be on Rangers fans over any police force you care to name...unless they were all black and in America. The Spanish police are amongst the most brutal in Europe. If Rangers fans think they can do in Seville what they did in Manchester, they have a shock coming.
With all due respect to the Rangers fans (which is none), if you add in Birus Norte (the Sevilla ultras) and maybe Gol Sur (From Betis), on top of the police, the Rangers fans will get squashed.I'm not sure about that. "Well done".Champions again

Common problem all over the football world, not just Scotland. It has become a very result oriented sport, and it reflects in the club board with South American leagues probably being the most extreme. And fans share a big slice of the blame sometimes because they have some personal bias against the manager.-lol-
It does have its merits in that it's old school, tough and raw.
Problem is that its imbalances, mainly due to decades of the Old Firm feeding off ignorance and hatred.
Another problem is the other ten clubs are happy playing second fiddle. Hibs appointment the Belgium assistant manager (Shaun Maloney) who is progressive, etc, but he got fired a mere four months in, as the Hibs board weren't happy that Shaun Maloney didn't have a magic wand and couldn't turn things around overnight.
That's what happens when you don't get decent Sky money turning it into a sanitised fancy show league like the EPL.christ that league is shite
Manchester was the perfect storm. Seen as a once in a lifetime game, that was easy accessible for all the dregs of society to get to (not just football fans), all day booze & benders, malfunctioning screens in the fan zone right before kick off.Let's hope the fans don't embarrass us all and treat Seville a bit better than they treated Manchester.
I didn't see George Square getting wrecked or fans rioting with each other last night after Celtic clinched the league or any of the 9 years before last. There were no reports of trouble when Celtic fans travelled in their numbers for the UEFA Cup final in 2003. In fact, UEFA awarded them the Fair Play award for their behaviour in the city.Manchester was the perfect storm. Not excusing what went on but there was no trouble at the game, there's been no trouble the past few years on the road, so that suggests the actual football fans aren't the issue, it's those that attach themselves to these things that cause the issue. Seen it with the celebrations in George Square last year, drink & drugs & a wider society problem.
And neither did Rangers during their 9 in a row or any of their previous title wins. George Square was again an example where not just football fans were out, & again a special set of circumstances, first title win in 10 years, lockdown meaning fans couldn't attend the game or get in the stadium, so a lot descended in the city centre, and yeah a ned element with drink & drugs blackened the name of the support.I didn't see George Square getting wrecked or fans rioting with each other last night after Celtic clinched the league or any of the 9 years before last. I don't think you can absolve the football fans of any blame either. Ibrox holds 50 thousand. How many of those 50 thousand do you think descended onto Glasgow city centre last summer to 'celebrate'? Only recently a Celtic physio required stitches after being glassed at Ibrox as well as whatever scumbag launched shards of broken glass into Joe Hart's goal area.
Granted, there's definitely a wider societal issue in Scotland but it's clear there's a rotten element within the Rangers support that doesn't exist at any other Scottish club to anywhere near the same extent. For example, three Scottish clubs have reached the UEFA Cup final and two of the fanbases have been awarded the Fair Play award afterwards for their behaviour. Guess who the odd one out is? Three Scottish clubs have won European trophies. Two of them were presented with the trophy in front of fans as is tradition. One of them received their trophy in the dressing room because there was a riot happening outside which earned them a ban from European competitions. Take another guess as to which club that was? In recent seasons they've had multiple partial stadium closures by UEFA for "sectarian and racist" behaviour.
There's definitely some issues within society that fuel it but the club themselves don't do enough to distance themselves from the nasty element in their support. They create an "anyone, everyone" campaign and then at the same time they hire a senior Orange Order member in David 'No Surrender' Graham to head up their communications and PR. It beggars belief.
Aye, forget all the other important stuff, it's Rangers & Celtic's rivalry that ruins the Scottish game. This is the main reason why Scottish football is such a shit show.
Forget the lack of money, the modesr stadia, the basic training facilities, etc. The main trouble with Scottish football is that the two most successful clubs are entrenched in bigotry, anger, hate and ignorance.
Both are successful as hell, but they're too busy being hostile towards one another, to enjoy it properly.
Both clubs are poison. And the funny thing is that they're joined so far to the hip that they're almost the same entity.
People say that Scottish football would die without the Old Firm. Yeah, well, people say the sane thing about Scotland if we broke away from Britain.
Scottish football and Scotland would do just fine, in either scenario.
