I don't see him as a guy who's going to have a prime Dave highlight reel of stunning reflex saves, but he absolutely could be a nice solid keeper who calms things down in the defence and saves everything you'd expect him to plus a little bit on top. Reminds me of van der Sar in that sense.

Very different challenge up next of course. Another clean sheet would do very nicely...

Didn't give any reason not to start him in the next game, which is all I would have asked for from his debut.

Solid. Boring, even. In the best sort of way. Wonder how long it will take the commentators to learn his name doesn't rhyme with 'amends'?
1) he did a video the day he signed pronouncing his name
2) don't commentators get phonetic spellings of all players in their prep?
3) It's, like, the most obvious way of saying his name. I don't get how you would default to anything else...

Not only did the basics right and had a proper solid game, he showed great composure with that save at the end. A goal at that point could have seen us fall apart and throw away a 2 goal lead. Seen it so many times. Top job and a great relief to have what seems a proper keeper between the sticks.

As good a debut as we could've hoped for.
Looks a bit of a leader also which is even more encouraging.

The Geordie bloke on my stream called him "Le Mins" all game.

Like, it's not even a difficult name at all, why are you inventing some kind of French name for him?

He looked like an actual goalkeeper. Nothing looked forced or weird or anything. It all just looked like something the player in that position should be doing. After the two clowns we have had for the last couple years, just looking like a standard player in that position is a huge improvement.

When he rushed out if that was Onana he would have completely wiped out the Sunderland player trying to get to the ball. Lammens at least seems to have his brain in with how he avoided it which got the Sunderland player a yellow for simulation. Then winning that ball into the box towards the end, Onana probably tries to punch that and whiffs and Sunderland get a tap-in.

He made saves he was supposed to, but what was promising was his coming for crosses and his sweeping. Tougher tests ahead. If he can come through the game against Liverpool without any howlers, it will give both the team and Amorim one less thing to worry about.

That’s exactly what you want to see from a Manchester United keeper. Lovely save at the end to top up an impressive overall performance.

I’m still disagreeing with the idea that not putting him into the starting XI from the get go was the correct decision.
I agree with though - I think we saw him commanding more today and was shouting from the back exactly because he's been given a few weeks to get to know everyone and prove his worth during training. Just my two cents on it, but I really am believing connecting with his team mates, in what has been a position under heavy scrutiny has been really good.

New keeper comes in and first clean sheet in 4 months. Feels nice to have an actual GK in net for a change.

I'm glad he didn't bother with the short passes. The last thing he needed today was passing a short one straight to a Sunderland player.

We got our first clean sheet with him in goal that says it all. Why do we play every goal kick long though, obviously it's tactical.

It's also a pretty quick Premier League start considering this is a *massive* step up from his former club. I know goalkeepers are a bit different, but it's still a big deal to go from the Belgian Pro League to the PL and look so assured.

He didn't have much to do.

Crowd cheering over his aerial claims was actually amusing, I had the same reaction from my room. Getting excited about such basics is also self-mockery of the criminal fact that we've been deprived of aerial presence in the box since VDS left. Obviously we do not yet have enough hindsight to judge him in this department

His long ball distribution seemed awful but we could put it down to the first game pressure. Anyway I don't even care as long as he just claims crosses and through balls, and does the basics on his line.

Near perfect debut. Didn’t look nervous or out of his depth. Made the saves without putting the ball back into dangerous areas. Actually caught the ball. You can see the defense playing with more confidence knowing they don’t have to try and prevent every cross or shot from distance.

Has to start at Liverpool in 2 weeks.

Great debut. Particularly liked how he dealt with the Xhaka piledriver, although not the most dangerous, a proper strong set of hands to it.

Good debut. Didn't have all that much to do but when he was called upon he did well. Bar from the mix up with Bruno, he was relatively unbothered.

Yes, he parried it to the side, which was an unusual surprise from our keepers

I think the impact and importance of this is underdiscussed. Hesitation leading to sloppy decision making in the back, leading to and conceding most of our shots on target against us.Reason why I had this position as a priority 0 for upgrading before summer.

We would've picked up more points and still be in the CL with a halfway competent GK. Suppose it's better late than never though.

I didn't see a very good replay of it, was hard to tell how good the shot/save actually was. But it looked like an absolute rocket and he dealt with it well

Superb debut. One really good save but his takes catching the ball rather than punching was solid. Looks like we might have finally found a top keeper.

I think it may have been hitting the post or wide. Either way, as you say, he dealt with it well - which gives me confidence in his decision making.

Brought a tear to my eye the couple of times he caught a high ball in a crowd
Same with me. After the first catch my eyes got a little wet. Same happened after the second catch. So crazy that something so basic can bring so much joy to a lot of us fans. It only highlights how desperately we were lacking a goalkeeper who can command his box and doesn't get pushed away by the opponent. Still early but already promising signs.

Man that first catch he did in the first half. Celebrated that like a goal.

Long may it continue. Hope he continues to improve and make that position his own.

That save round the post just before half time looked routine enough but it's one we've been used to Onana and Bayindir fumbling. Looking forward to feeling less nervous every time the opposition takes a speculative 25 yard shot.

He can catch the ball with his hands, and can kick it with his feet. That’s good enough for me, hope we see him in goal for every remaining game this season.

As good a debut as we could've hoped for.
Looks a bit of a leader also which is even more encouraging.
Also considering his low age and the fact goalies come into their right at higher age, he is so promising and calm.

Solid debut.

Looked comfortable, Made a couple of fine saves, commanded his area well and even killed attacks outright with arial saves.

For once our defenders didn’t seem like a nervous wreck. Bayindir and Onanas nerves were clearly passing on to the defenders.

Looks much more reassuring. Annoying how much better this season would have been so far if United had bought him earlier. Would not have lost to Arsenal anyway. If City wanted him they would just pay the cash in June or July. Instead we wait until right up to the transfer window ends to try to get a better deal.
