He usually doesn’t dive in such situations - probably had no chance to get to the ball

To be fair Lacroix put it in the one place he had little chance of getting it, fantastic header, not many keepers are keeping that out.

I actually don't think you can put any blame on him for that goal. It's just too far from him, and the ball had a bit of pace and was diving at the same time. Happy with him, especially his passing.

Don't think it's realistic to blame him for that goal. The cross has swung way over to the far post and then perfectly headed back across goal at a horrible height and nestled perfectly in the bottom corner. He cannot cover every inch of the goal, yet he has to prepare for that header going in all directions, unfortunately for him and us it couldn't have been placed any better.

Type of goal you'd be disappointed DDG didnt get out. No reaction either, no athleticity to get there. Thats the type of keeper he's. 90% keeper. Which is big improvement on what we had nontheless. The bar should be set higher though.
I still believe that element of his game will improve, so who do you think can set the bar higher?

Newcastle 2:1 Man Utd
Am I the only one who thinks Lammens just stands there and watches far too many goals fly in past him without even attempting to dive for the ball? Major weakness of his.

He took an unnecessary step to his left before the shot and left himself flat footed. Maguire had that angle covered so just a poor decision.

Yep. He's a really safe keeper in that he won't make any glaring errors but yea I don't think he's the best pure shot stopper in terms of making amazing saves.

inchperfect goal while Maguires fat head is blocking his sight, blaming Lammens today when the rest of the team dropped a 0/10 is just insane.

Isn't there a coach in the club that can tell Lammens that goals have a back post too. Always in trouble

wtf was Malacia even doing leading up to that goal
I don't think he could have done much and Maguire might block his sight, maybe he took a left step before it for reasons not needed but I do not like how often he just looks at the ball, have to dive, at least try, you never know. Otherwise he's been great this season at pretty much everything, would have hoped he had saved a penalty by now though, did he not like save almost all of them in Beligum? (obviosluy not a critique on him regarding penalities)

The ball goes in off the post and bends well outside the post and back in, no keeper in the world is saving that if they're even reasonably trying to cover the goal.

It was a 0.03xG chance that had an xGOT of 0.7, and that doesn't account for the fact it was curled out and back in.

He could have made an effort to dive for it, but he'd never have gotten to it and he'd have put himself in a bad situation if it went off the post and into the danger area.

Didnt expect him to save it because I dont think he makes those kinds of saves. Ramsdale probably would have and that was one of the differences today

Donnaruma isn't making that save, let alone Ramsdale.

This king deserves better. About the only one who really put a decent performance in.

To be honest, I didn't even know that that guy can bend the ball in such a manner. What a goal.

He should never been allowed to cut inside.

Senne Lammens:"We scored our goal just before half-time and it was really important to give us a good feeling going into half time."When we step out on the pitch for the second half it needs to be better, I think our mentality needs to be better. In every aspect it was not our game today."

Absolutely no way Ramsdale makes that save. Ramsdale also would typically have been stood further to the left to begin with. It’s aleay the keepers task to cover the nearest half of goal in such a situation, and up to Maguire to cover the farthest part. To Maguires defence he almost does it, and it’s made difficult by Malacia being a none entity ahead of him.

I knew there would be a few knives out for him after he didn't dive for that second goal and how right I was

When you look at the screenshots above, you understand how the keeper can't be blamed for that goal - his positioning is fine, the ball as it passed him is simply too far from reach, the shot was simply fantastic and sometimes, you just have to accept that you were beaten by an absolute cracker.

The lad is doing well, overall, a massive improvement on the last couple of clowns that stood between the posts for United.

Putting it really bluntly, if you think any keeper is getting to that you don’t have a clue about football, ball starts mile outside the post on top of that comes from behind a big body where he sees it late, no keeper in the world is getting to that.

To be fair, Onana might have saved that.

He might have saved it because he was miles away from where he should have been.

doubt any keepers saving that, unless they pre-empted the strike and positioned themselves better - even then, if the shot then came in at the near post to beat them, they'd be crucified. So no, not at fault.

I do think it was unsavable. I do also think his footwork was a little off. There was only one place the ball could go once he cut inside and the positioning of Maguire. Would like to see a bit more anticipation.

That being said. As mentioned. I do think it was unsavable.

Also. Senne is fecking mint.

I want to see the keeper that is saving this shot. Blinded by Harry and also sold out by Harry for not stepping up to close the shot. No keeper is saving this shot.

It’s laughable the goal is been talked about when he was after a fantastic game. Excellent in the air too brings a whole lot of calmness compared to the rubbish we’ve had to endure. Just to confirm there is no keeper saving that.

Somebody has to be blamed for everything, it's the way of the world now.

Looks like his performance on corners vs Everton has forced teams to try and keep the ball away from him. That poses a different set of problems for the defence, but it was nice not to see 22 players under the cross bar.

Probably being harsh, and this is more a case of trying to understand if he will end up just being a solid reliable GK or one of the top GKs, it does feel like he lacks those match winning saves. Maybe its just a case of circumstances that he hasn't had the opportunity to do so. But if he can start producing those then for me he'd easily step up into the top GK level. Again probably harsh but we saw Raya pull of some great fingertip saves over the past couple weeks to similar curled shots, a part of me wonders if a top GK tries to save yesterday's winning goal and gets a slight finger on it which would have been all thats needed to push it on the post.

He saved Zirkzees shot which is another I wouldnt expect Lammens to save. He was having an outstanding shot stopping game so yes I fully expeect him to have saved it if it was our effort on the Newcastle goal

He’s 22 and he commands his area far better than could be expected of someone his age. He’s got decent reflexes in his locker too and is confident with his feet. Needs to improve his long distance shot stopping.

Had we won last night, we wouldn’t be questioning him today.

Are we saying he should have saved that winner ? That was a brilliant goal. Maguire was used as a shield which means GK couldn't see what the striker is going to do. Now, if Maguire isnt there, then he would have dived and tried to save it.

Sometimes I wonder , people actually has played this game.

Lammens made a pretty identical stop to that last week against Everton.
